Hey everyone, my first 2008 set is this one, 5613. I thought I'd share a review of it. *sweet* I'd like to say sorry about my photos, they were taken quickly. first, we have the box: it is the smallest lego box I've ever seen, and actually looks cute *wub* it will be heavy competition with playmobil's specials... back of the box, showing an action pose: the contents of the little box, with a very tiny instruction manual *wub* the manual unfolded. Notice that every part has its part number beside it :-) the back of the manual, showing some fire sets and the other Impulse sets the parts, 30 in total: the small set built. the firefighter has a small fire to extinquish, armed with an axe, chainsaw, other saw and foam... psssh thing X-D . five extra parts in a 30 part set! we get an extra black hatchet, yellow bar tap, light bley 1*1 plate, red 1*1 plate modified with fingers and 2*2 dark bley radar dish. Besides the plate, I've never seen these as reserve parts... but I'm not complaining X-D here is a small "alternate" model I created with it: a small bbq... what? He's hungry and he needs to put something on the bbq >:-) X-D Overall, you can't go wrong with these Impulse sets. I paid 2.89 euros for this little set, so thats a great value! Sadly the only impulse avaible were these 3 city sets (no police) and the alien Mars mission... Looking forward to the knight and magician as well as those Indy sets! TT

Has Indiana Jones made ancient history of Johnny Thunder?
Tanotrooper replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Licensed
well, the Indy license probaply won't go as far as SW, since there are only 4 movies to cover. As much as I love the Indy line, I don't think it will last for more than 3-4 years, simply because there isn't that much to cover. After this year, what we have left of possible things are: -1ste movie: perhaps 2 more sets, but then everything is covered... -2nd movie: the temple itself, some other sets, perhaps about 4-5 sets? -3rd movie: (let me remember, it's a while ago) zeppelin, (book burning :-P ), perhaps 2-3 more sets. -4th movie: ??? If there are going to be 2 waves a year, this license will be used up fast. But I really like those Germans and Soviets *wub* Johhny, on the other hand, has still a lot of cultures and places to explore: -Rome -Greece -Arabia -Norse cultures -Atlantis? -... These could also offer parts wich can be used for different timelines, and so will attract much people... TT -
well, since chrome peels off and might end up in some kids throat... 8-| anyway, I love the fact they stopped chroming! *sweet* knowing that the paint will peel off isn't quite a nice thought... These sets look great, but the gunship... I don't know... I'd have to see the final pic... TT

5978 Sphinx Secret Surprise Review
Tanotrooper replied to alex54's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
ah, the desert adventurers theme... (known by my friends and me as "LEGO Egypt") made me a very happy boy. Let's see: small anubis temple, jeep, plane, large temple... I think this is the only set of that line wich I don't own. It seems like a nice set (beautiful sphinx), but a bit too open. I remember it's price range wasn't that much smaller than the one from the biggest set... The adventurers theme opened many ways to MOCing different civilisations like Ancient Egypt, China, India and Maya-like (not to mention the exquisite dinosaurs) but it's a shame the line didn't continue... We could perhaps have had Roman or Greek adventurers theme... Oh well, great review ;-) TT -

These are my entries for CCV: on the 11th July 1302 the battle of the Golden Spurs took place near Kortrijk in Flanders. This day is also the Flemish holiday. The Flemish were sick of the French demanding more and more of them and started rebelling against them. The French king was mad and sent a big organised army to those Flemish unorganised farmers. But the Flemish were smart, and defended the area behind a small river that flood around Kortrijk. The french army consisted of footsoldiers, archers, and a 5000-man knight army. The Flemish forces existed of militia, farmers, some noblemen who remained with the Flemish and laborers. The French first attacked with their footsoldiers and archers, pushing the Flemish forces back. The knights, who wanted their glory, ordered them to pull back, so that they could get their victory. A glorious charge of heavy cavalry took place, but the Flemish stood ready with their long "goedendagen". The cavalry got stuck in the sticky, muddy banks of the river, when the Flemish slaughtered them from above. No single knight was spared. The golden spurs of the knights were collected, and because so much spurs were collected, the battle was named "the battle of the Gulden Spurs" (de Guldensporenslag). From now on Flanders was independant. on to the pics! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=292624 gallery when public deeplinks: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...battle/gss1.jpg just when the battle seemed lost, the Golden knight appeared and encouraged the men to fight: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...battle/gss5.jpg the figs: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo.../gssfigures.jpg from l to r: Flemish militia, templar, French knights, Flemish laborer, an important Flemish leader (can't identify him yet), Flemish knight, French soldier, French head, the Golden knight (Guy of Dampierre), Guy of Namur. here is the begin scene of the movie made of it (had problems with computer, so this is the only scene I can show now): my second entry: the Crown knights found an old unfished Roman bridge, and decided to fix it up: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...ridgebefore.jpg this is the result: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...tercontest1.jpg a shot through the doors: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...tercontest2.jpg the doors closed: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tanotroo...ridgeafter3.jpg gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=292627 the curved bridge surface is made of 1*2 bricks. Tanotrooper replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
and don't forget about the Isle of Sark! |-/ we had to learn about it for the exams... It has an impressive army of 40 men still armed with muskets... TT -
take a plastic cape (the older types like in castle) and put it upside down on the minifig head, and tighten it with a 1*1 plate. or try a neck bracket or a beard... TT

I can't take it anymore *sing* too much good stuff... all those great 2008 sets... hehe X-D The impulse line seems to be good again *sweet* TT
