  1. Part 4: After Finish I very small update to the final build. I removed the second layer of plates on the top plate of the body again and instead used the parts to iron out the thickened front side plates of the body. Also some better pictures with a more realistic walking pose Those last two pictures are probably my favourite ones since they show that the walker is now a lot more interesting and camera-friendly from a low angle view, without any major gaps or exposed technic frames (at least on the body). This angle is also important for the AT-AT in particular because it was from this view we saw it the most in Empire Strikes Back. Really makes it look towering and menacing
  2. Well maybe there are people who think that buying single Minifigures seperately is way too expensive for what you actually get. But I agree with the necessitiy for a new TFA Luke, he looked spot on and pretty amazing in the movie. Actually, his appereance was the most exciting part in the whole movie for me
  3. Part 3: Legs, Body and everything else Since my last update I mad it and was able to finish the entire MOD of the AT-AT. What I did compared to the Part 2: Head: Almost nothing, only added 2 1 x 2 Tiles and tweaked the back end of the side plates a bit. Legs: Mostly tiliing and thickening with Plates as well as a bit of recolouring. I also tried to simulate the inward facing Leg Connection to the body with Bricks and Slopes on the underside. Makes the AT-AT look bulkier from underneath and the Leg Contstruction more believable and closer to the real thing. Body: The most work was put into the body section. Main objective was to thicken the 6 individual side plates to compensate a bit for the bigger head. I increased the distance between the plates to the technic hull and thickened them mainly with Tiles. Now, I knew from the start that i didnt want to Tile Up the whole Walker, since that would make the AT-AT pretty blocky, would just not look good with the Head Design and also would require a hug pile of Tiles that would barely improve the look (for example on the top plate). Instead I tried to create a silhouette or a simulating line of tiled space that goes trough all the side plates. The aim was to smoothen the design as efficently as possible. In addition to that I changed the design of the enhanced side plates in the middle to make them connect better/closer to the main plate. I think the new angle of those enhanced side plates is one of the best modifications, its a lot less steep and much more accurate (also looks great from a front view angle). Furthermore I covered up the more visible technic frame holes and did some more recolorization. Something that wasnt absolutely necessary for the look of the AT AT was the modification of the very bare troop/ cargo hold inside. I closed up some gaps inside, used black plates to level the center hole and added some detail, for example the weapon holders on one side. Its not perfect or completely closed up, but I think it feels a lot more usable and meaningful now. And that is more or less pretty much it, there are a lot more very minor changes that i didnt mention, but I think I covered the most important sections/changes. Incoming are a lot of pictures from the exterior and interior. Please feel free to give me your feedback or suggestions for the finished project.
  4. Those two fellas: About to get squashed
  5. It will not! TFA was the first Star Wars Movie in 10 years and also the beginning of a new Trilogie + it had old beloved elements like Characters (Han Solo, Chewie) and Objects (Lightsabers, Tie Fighter, X Wing). Rogue One has nothing of that going for it. Of course it is interesting to get to know what we can expect to get, but for me its only to see if we actually get more bigger sets with completely new designs compared to TFA Sets so far.
  6. Definitely! The only minor detail that kinda feels off are the blue plates around the engines and the side. Maybe exchanging them with black ones would make them more subtle.
  7. Something that hasnt been discussed much until now: What do you guys think about the First Order Tie Fighter? He had quite a big role in the movie and I really like the design overhaul compared to the old one, which looked a lot more plain. Even though the building process seems to be pretty boring, I am actually thinking about just grabbing it for display (It has a nice discount on amazon at the moment down from 70 to 58 euros). The red Stripe, white solar panels as well as the 3 printed canopies are just pure eye candy. I also really like the new Tie Fighter Pilot Design as well as its Minifig Version with the Hose attached to the helmet. The UCS Version of the old one feels like a total overkill for such a small and unspectacular craft, but the system scale size seems to be just about right.
  8. So in reality its the long await UCS Moisture Vaporator Set? Wait until that one is retired and gets sold by resellers on ebay, the UCS MF will never compare against that
  9. Exactly, Lego just needs to sell a simple blank sand base plate for 20 Bucks as Lego Star Wars Jakku Set and market it as a new feature that you can now imagine everything by yourself
  10. Ye, Jangs version is not perfect, but its a good example for the potential that this Lego design has. I am thinking UCS Imperial Shuttle in regard of the wings, since in the case of Kylo Rens Shuttle it is even more important that the wings look good from both sides. And for that matter the combined building technic of brick built and technic frame works just as good as it gets in my opinion. In regard of the utility or lets say the advantages of the design of the craft in general, I honestly dont know. From the previous Star Wars logic those huge Wings doesnt really make a lot of sense besides looking intimitading as hell (Which totally works for me). But maybe they will come up with some sci-fi explanation
  11. Gotta hand it to Lego with those battepacks, they are definitely not bad. I really liked the last Clonetrooper Battlepacks with the realistic/movie design (Kashyyyk, Utapau, Geonosis), and the newest line are pretty decent as well. This might the best on in my opinion. The prints are well done and its great to get different races for Rebel Alliance Minifigs, I mean that was one of the major things that set the Rebels apart from the Empire. Also the Speeder seems good enough. Sure its way too big, but hey, most of the time the battlepack extra vehicles or units are a lot smaller than they should be. In this case at least it seems to be usable for more than just part scavenging, also its probably easier to scale it down to minifigs than the other way around.
  12. Wow that second one from djs72 looks great. I mean, you instantly recognize it and it doesnt seem to have that much more parts than the one in this set.... Just why Lego, why cant you get it done proper Regarding the AT-AT... well we will see I actually would like to have a decent Hoth Rebel Base Set to go along with the custom AT-AT to creat some sort displayable scenery. My hopes are high for the UCS Hoth Echo Base, but I fear that it will be more of a heavily segmented playset than something for display
  13. @krisandkris12 More or less exactly how I feel about the matter. Kylo Rens Shuttle is really a shame, if you look at Jangbricks black version, you see how good a system scale version of the craft can look and work. Maybe a better system version would be the way to go instead of an actual UCS version, I mean the Wings are already huge, in an UCS Version they would need to be absolutely ginormous to be scaled properly. The fact that Reys Speeder holds up decently is because I think there wasnt too much to screw up with it. The missing net however really takes away the scavenger style/design.
  14. Would have been a great set, IF it actually would have featured a proper detailed minifig scale Probe Droid. I really liked the intimitadting look and sound from the real thing in the movie, but this lego version looks barely anything like it.
  15. It is But to be fair that MOC is extremely impressive
  16. I agree with it being too large, at least for my personal taste. I mean I love big ships and also minifig scale versions, but in case of the UCS MF its just too much Is it known what exact scale it is btw? Always seemed to be a bit bigger than minifig scale to me... Aside from being an extremely expensive trip to get one of those nowadays, I also heard a lot of times that the build itself is not really that much fun to do nor could it be considered "good" (for example: Big gaps and dropping mandibles over time, bad cockpit design and no interior what so ever). Sure it will probably forever remain the ultimate hardcore collector set, and that label will always intrigue people. But if you just want a nice and goodlooking MF, I dont know if its the best way to go anymore. Getting the System-Scale version, MOCing one or waiting for a new UCS MF seem to be way better options to me.
  17. I am thinking so hard right now.... when did we saw him without his pilot helmet? Only two places come to mind...
  18. Looks great, the scale seems to be perfect! Also really nice that there are barely any studs exposed. The craft design actually has something to it without all the flashy and unfitting stud shooter gimmicks
  19. Probably not Like I wrote in my initial post I am more or less a complete amateur when it comes to own creations. I really enjoy looking at a basic model and imagining ways to improve its apperance and features without completely butchering the original Lego design. Just to see for myself how much better a released model can be with relatively minor tweeks and enhancements. Thanks for the compliment, but I am still not done yet (even though the head will surely remain the biggest visual change)
  20. As long as a possible new real canopy is printed and doesnt require multiple stickers (as the new ucs x-wing does)
  21. Sadly it absolutely is! And not even the front but the the rest of the body as well as the legs too. The Head is just way out of proportion and scale. This oversized look is strongest when you look down on the model, its not so bad from the side, front and underneath. I already tried to modify the 6 main body plates to be thicker so that the body would be in a better scale, but thicker plates also means wider gaps and especially for the front plates I havent found a decent solution. All in all I dont see a reasonable way to get the head in proportion while maintaining its size for proper details inside and outside. At least not without major changes to the construction of the body to enlargen it, which would make this more of a MOC than a MOD. But hey, at least it fits the Lego design of comical oversized heads (when you look at minifigs) EDIT: Thanks for those pics Junior Shark, didnt know those ones yet! For comparisons sake, if you look at the original 75054 AT AT Head, you will notice that that one is already a bit too big as well (http://cache.lego.com/r/www/r/starwars/-/media/franchises/lego%20starwars/products/75054/prod_product_retina_1224x688_75054.jpg?l.r2=264163158). The general scale of this model just doesnt seem to allow proper proportions, at least not for this level of detail.
  22. If you desperately want a Millenium Falcon, go for the system scale one. I am really satisfied with it and the price is decent. It also seems to be relatively easy to modify if you really cant stand the gaps between the pizza slices of its hull design.
  23. Well I would agree that the Millenium Falcon has reached an all time high in popularity. I mean already several weeks/months before the Release of Episode 7, the new Millenium Falcon was #1 Bestseller on Amazon in the category of Star Wars Merchandise in general! Collectors as well as casual consumers really seem to have a high demand for it, as it also plays a big and crucial role in the new Star Wars Movie. I would probably buy a new UCS Falcon in an instant, even if it would cost 500 - 650 Bucks. But even so it remains to be seen if Lego really wants to go that route. I would definitely make sense, but with Lego you never know.
  24. Regarding cavegods latest bit of information about a new UCS MF there is a similar discussion in another forum: http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/15467-new-usc-millennium-falcon-2016-rumor/?page=3 And I have to agree to an extent with the information that is given there. Just because a different UCS Size Millenium Falcon has been seen, does not mean they have one ready and about to market and sell. It also could have been just a prototype for Lego to discuss the matter of releasing a new one, doesnt mean they automatically decide to do so. Of course I dont know if Disneys involvement might be able to change that state over time and if they want a new one released regardless if it fits the portfolio of Legos smaller sets.
  25. Actually I really liked the Starkiller Base. Love the design and it did had some very memorable/crucial scenes to it: All in all I think a Starkiller Set would make way more sense than another Death Star!
