I was planning on getting there just after the shop opens, but now i'm thinking I need to be there sooner if you guys think there will be queues! I hope it's that popular! (I imagine there will be some scalpers hoping to cash-in, that was the problem with the BTTF delorean in the UK)

Have we found out what's hidden inside the tower yet? All the reviews seem to omit this, I presume they were told not to reveal it?

Agreed, i'll be using the old beard and helmet, the new helmet is smooth around the back whereas the old one had all the little 3D 'tabs'. Guess they destroyed the old moulds for both of those pieces, which would also makes sense for the absence of Legolas' and Elrond's old hairpieces. Love Gimli's new walking axe though! Shame we don't have a double-edged one too.

Soooooo, when do we get the Barad-dur pics....

So we are getting those trees then

Just popping in and doing my monthly LOTR Lego news check! I agree, I think it's a step in the right direction for the future of the theme. Certainly is an interesting new piece that seems somewhat unnecessary, especially in a Ninjago set... I'm leaning towards a series of vignettes that connect together to show the journey of the fellowship (similar to the recent Star Wars ones). For $500 you could easily have the entire trilogy represented by key scenes or maybe larger scenes of just the Fellowship of the Ring key scenes. I'd prefer a playset; but i'll take minifig scale vignettes over a microscale model or some full size helmet or sword!

Since reading this last weekend, it's all I can think about and I have a baaaaad feeling about the set now... As awful as it would be, I can really see LEGO making a sword. I won't be getting my hopes up for a playset.

Haven't posted on here since the original Lord of the Rings sets were released, so i'm very excited! Trying not to get my hopes up though, given the state of some of the recent large sets. I think i'll cry if it's a Sauron or Cave Troll bust. I can just about cope with a microscale set, but i'd prefer a classic playset!

Just got back form my local entertainer, felt all of them out successfully but couldn't find Ralph Picked up doubles of Apu and Homer though for their accessories

Had a look at my nearest Argos today for them and they had none in stock and none of the other 12 nearest to me had them either! I was told they wouldn't get them until the 21st! I can only assume he meant of May because it's the 24th today. Also had a peak on Toys R Us but nothing there either

The LEGO Cuusoo License Conflicts and Resolutions page has just been updated and now states they will be accepting Doctor Who entries! We can only assume character lost the license to make the copycat sets but this is great news! It's really quite specific as well, I predict a flood of Doctor Who models on there over the coming weeks. It's Almost like LEGO wants this to happen The updated page - https://legocuusoo.u...and-resolutions News courtesy of The Doctor Who site - http://merchandise.t...-a-possibility/ Edit: Sources Added

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
TheDoctor replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks brilliant! I definite buy for me! Although I do worry about how well the full size metalbeard will fit in with this? As long as I can squeeze him in at the helm it's fine.- 158 replies

Well I just got asked for the Batch number of my Orthanc with the misprinted instructions, they said they would need to recall them. Not sure if that will impact anyone who ordered them online

The first 30 pages instructing how to build the base of the tower and the last pages of how to build the ent were were missing. I hope this isn't a major thing, if so it could get recalled. Anyway! I got the PDF files off them and I have to say, this tower is incredible!!!

Just got the last one from LEGO Cardiff, they said people were queuing at the door for it this morning! Bad news is! I got halfway through the first book building the ent only to find the pages were messed up and it went onto building the tower itself before i finished building the ent! I called them up and they sent me a PDF, but it's still not on considering how much it is!

I'm popping to a LEGO shop soon and I haven't received my VIP card yet. I wondered if I need the card to take advantage of promotions? I have my VIP number, just not the card. Thanks in advance
-
I think the Orthanc more than makes up for this lines faults, of which there are few. Speaking of which, i've never taken advantage of a VIP promotion before, how will you get it early? Do you just go onto the VIP promotions page and it will be there on the 17th?

That would be amazing! But do you think that they'd make a new hat piece just for a polybag?

Press Release 10237 - Tower of Orthanc
TheDoctor replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Awsome, Thats a great idea. Would you mind doing a picture of your print out next to any other tall set you have? I have been fumbling about with a measuring tape this morning to see where mine will fit. That's a brilliant idea! Unfortunately i'm at university so all my precious LEGO sets are at home But if you manage it yourself, you will be amazed! It goes right up to my windowsill, I can't get over how amazing it's going to look when you actually have it in front of you -
Press Release 10237 - Tower of Orthanc
TheDoctor replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I actually printed out a picture of the Orthanc at 1:1 scale just to see how big it actually was....My god its huge! Especially when you put a minifig next to it! -
I thought initially it was very clever, but now on the high res pictures you can see Saruman's beard doesn't quite cover count Dooku's beard

There's 2 switches at the back of the wizards duel, looks like one is to make Suruman fly out of his chair but the other looks like it could be a light up feature for the eye of Sauron!!!
