  1. So price increased confirmed for the US now... Not sure what that means for Bag End and if the price has already been increased to $270 or will increase further.
  2. No problem. Can't believe we're nearly two weeks away and there's no teaser, reveal or confirmed price yet.
  3. A small minority of people saying this on internet forums definitely does not influence LEGO's pricing policy. Yeah, it's not retroactively applied to goods already in the country. HOWEVER! The US stock is mostly from the Mexico factory (as Christiansen say's in the post below) and the Mexico tariffs are already in effect as of March 4th. So, unless they got stock in the country before then, the tariff would be applied. Hadn't considered the Book Nook, good catch. That US price came from converting the confirmed Danish Krone price, which is with the price per piece sounds about right. Really does point to tariffs being applied. As for LEGO's response, there's not really much they can do. Mexican imports are already having a 25% tariff applied. All they can do is maybe negotiate lower tariffs based on the fact they're building a facility in America, but chances are the factory would be built by the time legislation like that gets passed! ________________________________________________________________ Have any of the other sub-forums noticed pricing discrepancies? Lego may choose to absorb the tariffs themselves and see a loss in company profits, but I doubt it. That's a hard thing to sell to the board. They'll probably do what most companies do and split the difference. In basic terms, LEGO will take a 12.5% hit on their profits and increase prices by 12.5%, so the product will still sell.
  4. Why did you change what I typed? It should say 25% 'off' actually. Reflecting what the RRP would have been before tariffs.
  5. I'll be very interested to see if it is the new US tariffs having an impact. The plan was a 25% tariff on goods imported from the European Union starting from 1st April. Coincidently right around the release date of the set! 25% on $200 is $250 OR 25% off $270 is $216 (Maybe the retail was supposed to be $220? I remember hearing that number once or twice and it seems reasonable) Regardless, the tariffs are definitely happening (unless there's some sudden agreement in the meantime, which seems highly unlikely as the EU is not backing down and is instead implementing counter-tariffs) So either way, LEGO is going to get more expensive for US customers until the Virginia facility is complete. EDIT It's worth noting that at $200 the PP ratio was $0.099/piece At $270, it's $0.133/piece For reference, last year's averages: Star Wars $0.114/piece Disney $0.115/piece Marvel $0.111/piece Mario $0.107/piece Barad Dur $0.084/piece Rivendell $0.081/piece Even compared to other licences (excluding Jurassic Park due to the large moulds) the price is way off and at $200 it would have been comparable to the other LotR sets.
  6. That was before the (unconfirmed) rumours of a $270 price tag. If that's the case, it will be Β£230.
  7. Yeah, they're cutting this one fine. It's less than 3 weeks until the release.
  8. It was MaxBaut? Brick Clicker just made the graphic that's doing the rounds.
  9. I'm not convinced by that new price and release date. How reliable is that leaker usually? Very sceptical of a Smeagol & Deagol set, I just really struggle to see Lego releasing a set based on one single scene in which a cold-blooded murder takes place...? (don't get me wrong, I'd love it! But it's also hard to display alongside the set) Wonder if they'll bring forward the reveal after this leak now it's gone from the site. Also looks like the doorknob piece is chrome gold!
  10. NEW details! 10367 (Icons - Lord of the Rings Book Nook) Release: 1st June 2025 $114.99/ Β£99.99 (No piece count yet, source: bog-ide.dk)
  11. As a teacher of 9-12 year olds, I think I can offer some good insight into this. Harry Potter has not ceased being relevant since the films were released, I can't think of a single class group i've taught since 2001 where at least one child has a HP pencil case or bag. In between films or lulls in popularity, it still maintains relevance because the kids read the books and the films are always on TV. I can (and have) done HP quizzes and most every kid knows the answers. It also appeals to both genders. Star Wars is very different. It definitely has more significant quiet periods where I don't see kids talking about it or with merchandise. It's obviously very male dominated (whether you like it or not) and the kids aren't aware of the EU books to fill the voids between releases. From 2007ish to 2015, it dropped off the radar in my school. Obviously there were ones who would watch it with their parents and then a small group would be 'into it' for a few school terms, but it would pass. From 2019 to now, interest has really died off. But do you know what they NEVER talk about at all... Lord of the Rings, they just don't care. It's huge to us, but I am frequently stunned and grounded when I found out they have no idea about Ghostbusters, ET, Bugs Life or Jumanji either. LotR are LONG films which are very dark in places, they honestly don't have the attention span for it. Most haven't even seen Shrek or Monsters inc.! (aside from the memes) It's very easy to forget just how internet-centric this generation is and where they get their entertainment. LEGO does HUGE amounts of market research before committing to this stuff and I can assure you, there is no audience for it in LEGOs target demographic for a fully fledged theme. It's frustrating to see this endless conversation about a new theme when the interest just isn't there, that's why it's bundled with ICONS for adult collectors who do remember and enjoy the films. Old and retired theme discussions become echo chambers where their popularity is significantly over-estimated outside this forum bubble. It just descends into fantasy and dreaming about things that will never come to pass. We're not going to see a 1K set. I don't doubt that LEGO have been pleasantly surprised by the reception the new sets have received, but it's taken Star Wars over 25 years to get to the point of building a large enough audience of collectors to risk such a large set! I agree with this, but I'd like to know what 'BDP' number are? Lord of the Rings is a 'mould-heavy' theme which requires great investment.
  12. Now that 'mid' legs are much more common and colourful, I took the opportunity to upgrade Thorin's company! Also used new wigs, accessories and reunited Gloin with his walking Axe! Also updated Bilbo's legs (fingers crossed for Dark Tan Hobbit legs included with Bag End!)
  13. I agree that the market just isn't there for a full LotR wave. The only way I see that happening is if the Gollum films are really something quite spectacular that captures the imagination of this new generation and prompts them to go back and watch the Trilogy. I think it will be pretty easy to gauge the hype and see if that is happening (especially because I work in a school, which is why the Wednesday tie-in was no surprise to me. The kids were REALLY into it despite its mature theme) I guess it would be akin to the Star Wars prequel/sequel trilogy introducing a new generation to Star Wars. Regardless, a $1k set is not on the cards, nor are Dwarfs with Bag End.
  14. I actually think it's quite likely we'll see a Hunt for Gollum set at this point, as the hype around the movie begins to ramp up and LEGO continues to support LotR. It's allegedly supposed to premier next year, which likely means they're well into pre-production and have concept art to share with Lego. That would also make sense with the current annual release of these sets. I doubt it would be a full wave, more something like the Netflix Wednesday tie-in and one set for each film.
  15. I really wasn't a fan of the new Elf hairpiece included with Rivendell. (I switched most of the figures back to the old ones, especially Legolas who's old one was perfect) But today I was looking at it and thought it's actually perfect for Haldir, who does wear his hair over his shoulders...
  16. Welcome on board! This is the quiet lull before the first leaks happen, so sit tight, friend! What do you think the new Bag End set will look like?
  17. Yeah, that would be nice. Could be a pretty cheap and cheerful GWP. Would even be a decent opportunity to reuse Merry & Pippin in the tent with the fireworks.
  18. I could see the GWP being 'Bilbo's Birthday' and including the cake, some barrels, tables & benches, ale cask and maybe a tent.
  19. Well given that they're making Bag End, the large black microscale tower must have sold pretty well. It wouldn't be an architecture set, just a microscale location similar to Barad-Dur with a minifig-scale interior. (mind you, not a lot happens inside in the films, but the same could be said of Barad-Dur)
  20. There were actually a couple of April 1st leaks today, so it could be imminent. More likely that we'll know more within the next 3 weeks though, if we go by the flurry of early leaks at the moment, which are mostly about 5-6 weeks prior to release.
  21. I just don't think the Courtyard, White Tower and King's House are Iconic enough for a set, I can't really remember what the King's House facade looks like apart from it's white with a lot of pillars. Rivendell worked because the location consists of multiple buildings and structures, so it was easy to isolate certain elements and bring them together for one set whilst still looking 'complete'. By 'System Playset', I mean a small portion of a larger location; like Balin's Tomb, Dol Guldur, The original Rivendell, Uruk-Hai Army or in this case, something like the front gates with Grond or Walls with Trebuchets. Minas Tirith is kind of an 'all or nothing' location. It's only iconic in its entirety, with all seven of the concentric levels. I understand why they decided not to make sets for it back in the day. It’s hard to do it justice and if they went for a smaller set, it would just be boring white walls.
  22. Agreed, I actually think Bag End is more of a 'filler' set for this year in the lead up to Minas Tirith. Minas Tirith would likely be a bonanza of new moulded parts (which is why I don't think we'll see any new moulds for LotR this year, essentially Bag End is funding the development of Minas Tirith) Like I said before, Bag End will very much be build-focused with underwhelming figures. As for Minas Tirith, I expect it to be scaled in a similar fashion to Barad Dur. We've seen they're not making 'system playsets' for the theme, so it's unlikely to be a small section of the city with play features. The only catch is the courtyard. It's the one place you'd really want to display figures, but if it's scaled like Barad Dur, it's going to be tiny. The White Tree would probably be represented by this piece, recoloured white...
  23. I just don't expect generic Hobbits to be included with nowhere to really display them. Like BrickBob Studpants said, expect a pretty weak line up for this set. (then be happy if you're proved wrong!) Although a quick note on Lobelia; in LotR her appearance is far less striking than her colourful appearance in The Hobbit. (so it would actually be quite a dull choice, unless they just decide to go for her Hobbit look) There's also been a bit of an up tick in leaks at the moment, so maybe we'll get an idea closer to the end of February if the current leaks are anything to go by. (Surprising really, LEGO has been quite successful in cracking down on leaks after appointing staff to that specific role. Maybe they're on holiday!)
  24. Personally, I'd rather they invest the money in more pieces towards the build; it'll take a lot of detailing to stop it looking like a green blob.
