I took a look at that. It was a really great review. I must say I love the back of the boxes for these sets. I love how, since these sets don't have a lot of 'function' features, they just showcase the weapons and the figures in battle setups. It looks really cool and makes the boxes very appealing. Also, the more I see it, the more I love Éomer's helmet. Also, on a note related to Éomer, sidersdd, I asked you to take a picture of Éomer with Elizabeth Swann hair. I noticed you put it on Gandalf, which made me chuckle. I guess it must have been late, and everyone has been asking for special pictures, so if you could maybe take the pic with the hair on Éomer, that would be great! EDIT: Also, I remember Durin's Bane saying he heard the release of these sets had been pushed to May 21st or something, and I was wondering if anyone else has heard something like that, or if there is any backing to this information?

Well, the sets are available now at Toys R Us, so it seems like a waste to get one fig (without proper accessories) just for the sake of a couple weeks early.
-
That's great! Thanks! Also, I just thought about how there must be some people kicking themselves for buying those factory leaks from a couple weeks back!
-
Great pictures, Pandora! Also, I have a question for sidersdd. Can the Ring fit IN (not ON, like a stud) a minifig hand? It would be cool if Frodo could hold the Ring like is shown in his CGI picture on the official website.
-
Sounds great! Can't wait to see them!

That minifig page is great. I love Boromir fighting the goblin, and Frodo wrestling Gollum for the Ring is pretty cool. Also, at sidersdd, if you could take a picture of Éomer with Elizabeth Swann's hair, I would like to see how it looks on him.

9470 "Shelob Attacks" video review (not mine!)
Fives replied to Alldarker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't know how you wouldn't want this set first! It comes with three of the most important (if not the most important) characters of all LOTR, plus Shelob is amazing (probably the best brick-built creature yet), and there are all those extra bits (two Stings, three Rings). I'll probably get this one first at the start of June, and then wait a bit to get the rest. I just don't know how I will be able to get only one without going a buying all the others! -
9470 "Shelob Attacks" video review (not mine!)

The sets are available at Toys R Us in the States. It is definitely the best video review I've ever seen, and it makes me want this set even more now. -
It says on the site that the sets are in stock for shipping and in stores, so yeah, you should be getting them soon. If I didn't live in Canada, I would order these sets in a heartbeat, but I just can't justify the shipping fees.
-
When you get them, could you make reviews?

I haven't really been following this topic, but I stumbled upon this while looking around: Even though I don't plan on buying these sets, those zombie bride and groom figs look amazing! EDIT: Found this review of the set: http://www.brickhorizon.com/boardz/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3207

I would say Aragorn's hair would more suit Théodred. His hair is darker and not that orange, from what I can remember. As for a torso, I'm pretty sure you could ask around the Minifig Customization Workshop for someone who could replicate Éomer's armor in dark green as a decal, if you aren't against using decals. Théodred's armor was greenish and looked quite similar to Éomer's.

Also, Thor's face is perfect for a Rohan soldier. I plan on using it for Gamling (Éomer with Thor's head), along with a bunch of random extra bearded fleshie heads for my other four extra Éomers that I'll have to make into an elite Rohan force. If you are looking for more fleshie face suggestions to give variety to your Rohan force, the latest Obi-Wan Ep. III face would look good.

It is a good hairpiece. They also used it on Thor but in buttercup yellow (I don't think that is what the colour is called, but I heard it used once, so yeah) which was a nice addition, and could be useful in making Rohan men. I really hope they use this hair for a possible Faramir, but in reddish brown.

Having seen the movie last night, I now have things to say about this. Overall, the sets are decent, and in comparison to some past themes based on new movie material (Indy 4 ), LEGO has pulled off a very good theme. When Indy 4 came out, I had already collected all of the sets for the movie. I was quite upset with how almost none of the sets made sense. It was a very disappointing theme (not overall, just those first sets based on Indy 4). PoP also had this problem, but not as bad as Indy. POTC made sense overall, except for the Fountain set. This Avengers theme (which I really hope continues and spreads out over Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Capt. America 2, and any other related movies) is probably the best (besides Star Wars) when it comes to accuracy to the movie

Holy Hobbits! If that isn't an indication of how popular this theme will become, I don't know what is!

These are all great! Edoras is the best so far. The function in the Dead Marshes is very clever and affective. My only problem with that set would be the water seems too bright for some reason. If it had a more murky, greenish look, it might be better. But still, it looks awesome! The Treebeard is fantastic! You've done a really good job here! Edoras has been captured perfectly. It is instantly recognizable, and the minifig selection is good. Any idea when we may see more sets?

Still no news about Palpatine's Arrest?

The only reason I ever bought Castle was to imitate LOTR. Therefore, with official sets, I have little need to buy traditional Castle sets.

I haven't bought a single set at TRU since LEGO opened a store near me. Yet, I don't think I could wait to get these sets for Xmas. I'm hoping to go down to the US to get the sets at the end of June. Although Canada and the US are neighbours, the US still gets better prices. For what I plan on buying (Gandalf Arrives x1, Shelob Attacks x1, Uruk-Hai Army x6, Orc Forge x2, Weathertop x1, Moria x1, and Helm's Deep x1) I'll save around $200 by buying in the US. Also, I'm surprised there are so many people that are only planning on getting these sets for the parts. I mean, it makes sense. Some of the parts (Rohan helmets, swords, etc.) would be great on most Castle guys, but a lot of the LOTR stuff, I think, would look out of place with Lion and Crown knights around it. The Uruks and orcs from LOTR will look way more menacing and awesome beside their Castle counterparts. But, to each his own. All I can say is that I probably will never buy another Castle set again because of this theme.

This news can only mean one thing: reviews. If the sets are starting to trickle down onto the shelves or TRUs, we should be seeing reviews of all the sets within the next couple of weeks. It's a shame you didn't have the money to just get it, but still, thanks for the news.

I don't think that LEGO made the Orc Forge just from spare parts and they were bored. Sure, it may be the weakest of the sets, but without in we would have no Mordor orcs. I feel that one of the main reasons they made the set was to give some sort of way of getting Mordor orcs. All the other sets would make no sense with Mordor orcs. Also, you get a good amount of Uruk accessories, which is a plus.

According to the Toy Fair, the sets are going to be released in June. But, I asked someone at my local LEGO Store if they have any idea about a specific date, and they said the only info LEGO has given them is Summer release. They say it is because the people who gave LEGO the license still retain the rights to push the release back or forward to whenever they want. So, this information can be taken as both bad and good: either they get released a bit later than scheduled, or they decide to release them earlier. I hope they just stick with the original June release.

You must have the Gimli head. Mind posting a pic of both sides of the Gimli head?

Just picked up the Quinjet Aerial Battle. My first Super Heroes set! I must say, it is great! The ship itself is very well built, and looks fantastic. The figures are just pure awesome! Iron Man (my favourite Avenger, next to Thor and Hawkeye) is just spot on! The helmet piece is just amazing, and it makes me wonder if LEGO would ever use a similar thing for a newer Darth Vader helmet. Thor looks perfect. His hair is great, and the face captures the character just as well. Black Widow is done well, but I feel that her face just doesn't capture Scarlett Johansson's likeness at all. Other than that, she is a cool minifig. Loki is very well done, but I just personally don't like the way his helmet looks. As for the alien soldier, other than the pearl gold head being new, he is pretty plain and unexciting. I'm heading back on Saturday to pick up the CCE and the Wolverine set. I really hope this theme lasts! It has so much potential!
