  1. Hello! What a fantastic starship design! I always enjoy ships from the Star Trek Universe, and the Miranda-class starships are among my favourites. These ships can be seen from the classic series up into the newest series productions. You did an outstanding job recreating this vessel at this huge scale. I first thought the image was a reference picture when I realised this actaully already is the bricked version! Cheers, ~ Christopher Khaaaaaaaaan!
  2. Hello! The use of the astromech droid legs as rotating maneuvering thrusters is a nice idea! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  3. Hello! That's a nice complex of various car pieces. They really come together to a nice shape. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  4. Hello! Nice colours! Will you build in in reality? And where comes the "Vitamin" term from? Orange like carrots? Should be vitamin A then. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  5. Hello, and thank you for the highlight! As already mentioned, there are some more IMperial ships (including the Enforcer Picket Cruiser) which will be updated later in the "Remnants of the Empire" starship batch. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  6. Don't say things like that. Yours is a nice version. I am not in for competition. We're all exchanging ideas. No, you're not doing anything wrong. There are not instructions for the Victory and Gladiator Star Destroyer (yet).
  7. Hello! Those are really nice photos. Thank you for these first impressions. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  8. Hello! Great cave construction! It could really have happened to some Jedi like in the scene you portrayed. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  9. Hello, and thanks again for the compliments. I am really happy many of you also like the small Gladiator Star Destroyer. It's a very tricky built actually, as I wanted the wing angles made with hinges instead of several layers with plates. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  10. Hello! A great bridge layout very close to the original. Most Star Destroyer types have similar bridge layouts, so another benefit of your nicely shaped design! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  11. Hello! A nice looking diorama providing the right mood of the Mos Eisley scenes from the movies. It's also a fine variety of tan buildings typically seen in Mos Eisley. All in all a pleasure to look at. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  12. Hello! Thank you for the nice comments. There are a few more Imperial ships to come, but first we'll take care of the Rebels. I disagree. I think it resembles perfectly what it is. A box. A box with engines. No, I did not as I don't care much about those computer game created vessels. And then you will see that there are statistics for the length of the ship. So how could I scale it then. As it's a corvette class the length should be somewhere between 100 and 200 meters which would only be 4 studs in Midi scale. The typical characteristics of a ship are hardly realizable at this size. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  13. Hello everybody! After starting my new Midi model project back in May 2011, it's finally time for an update with ships from the Classic Trilogy. Today I'd like to present 9 new models of the Imperial Navy with you. For those who have missed the initial post for this project, here are again the rules: The Imperial Star Destroyer is 1600 meters long, and the official MIDI ISD by LEGO® is 31 studs in length, this gives a scale where 1 studs equals 50 meters (it would be exact if set 8099 was 32 studs, but it is still a very accurate approximation). Following you'll see a size comparison of the new vessel compared with the original Midid Star Destroyer (LEGO® set 8099, back row right). The shpis are all from the Expanded Universe. Their construction is already complete for several months, so sorry for taking the pics so late. Problematic with this project is that the smaller you get, the more accuray is lost. It's really hard to make the smaller ships still reconizable and to scale with the gargantuan Star Destroyer. -------------------- We'll begin with the largest and will end with the smallest vessel, thus beginning with the Victory Star Destroyer. This is a predecessor of the Imperial Star Destroyer which saw its first action during the end of the Clone Wars. It's 900 meters in length (converts to 18 studs). -------------------- With 600 meters in length (equals 12 studs) the Interdictor Cruiser has the shape of a small Star Destroyer but features four spheres embedded in the dagger shape. These are gravity wellm projectors preventing hyperspace jumps of leaving ships. These ships are not made for capital ship combat and do only have light weaponry. -------------------- Also 600 meters in length (equals 12 studs) but intended for capital ship combat is the Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. These ships are amongst the oldest in the Imperial Navy and date back long before the Clone Wars, but are still suitable for the purposes of the Empire. -------------------- A lesser known Star Destroyer type is the Gladiator Star Destroyer. These are only 500 meters in length (converts to 10 studs) but feature a lot of heavy weaponry for a ship of its size. You might have spotted this vessel in the old animated Droids TV series. -------------------- Not a combat vessel but an important support ship of the Imperial Navy, the 500 meters long Escort Carrier (equals 10 studs) is used to carry one entire wing of TIE fighters (72 ships) into the combat field. besides that it only feature light weaponry. -------------------- Long kept as a secret by the Empire, the Strike Medium Cruiser is a very capable cruiser at only 450 meters (converts to 9 studs) in length. -------------------- The Carrack Light Cruiser is an older design also dating back to the Clone Wars. It is 350 meters in length which equals 7 studs in our Midi ISD scale. Characteristioc for the ship are the powerful engines making it one of the fastest capital ships even still during the era of the Empire. -------------------- Even shorter with only 300 meters in length (equals 6 studs) is the so-called Star Galleon. This is more aan armed cargo transport, but is also used as Escort frigate, as featuring turbolasers for capital ship combat. When the ship is lost, the cargo compartment is released and jumps into hyperspace. -------------------- After the Empire lost the first Death Star due to tiny starfighters, it developed an anti-starfighter vessel, the Lancer Frigate. This small frigate is only 250 meters in length (equals 5 studs) and only features anti-starfighter quad laser cannons. Only few of the frigates were ever completed due to its high costs. -------------------- With that we're done with this lengthy post. You can always click on the images to view the full image galleries and building instructions. Thank you for your interest and have a great week! Yours Christopher PS: Next is the Rebel Fleet!
  14. Hello! I didn't expect that you could make your great figures look even more agile, but you did it with the right equipment! The octagonal plate for the belt is a great feature piece. It's part of the armor design and enables the attachment of legs. That's great piece use. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  15. Hello! Thank you for your interest in the alternate building project! I am glad you appreciate the models even not as perfect as they could be when building normal mini models. But the limited parts variety is an attractive challenge. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  16. Hello! The use of the brown 4x6 wedges was a good choice and makes ist quite recognizable. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  17. Hello! That's simply fantastic! The way you used standard elements to create something complex like the sith tatoos is exceptionally well done. My favourite detail are the yellow headlight bricks for the eyes. Simple elegance that is. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  18. Hello! Great representation of an classic scene! I like the corridor shot best. It has the right lights and supports the exact mood of the original scene. Nicely done! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  19. Hello everybody! So I wandered through the toy story before christmas and saw that Brickmaster kit with booklet + pieces for the hundredth time. After a big sigh I finally bought it. It's quickly summarised: The Good: the idea of a SW universal building set is great. The Bad: only one quarter of the brick compartment is actually filled with bricks. The Ugly: there are some strange looking models with strange names in that booklet. If you want to learn more about this set, have a look at the review here on our forum. From the proposed models of the building booklet I liked the zwo mini models best. So I thought let's try two more. It's the epic battle between Separatists and Repoublic: Munificent Star Frigate vs. Venator Attack Cruiser! Shape and colouring are not perfectly accurate, but it's fun building those from the limited parts choice. And another good thing is that they are approximately to scale with each other. >>> Free instructions available here. <<< That's it for now. Thanks for stepping by, and have a great week! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  20. Hello! An impressive representation of the Separatists' most common capital combat starship. Now it would be nice to see those praised special functions in images, too, besides the description. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  21. Hello! I am sorry for the delay. After no interest for one day, I didn't expect someone would actually want them. Shipping outside of Germany is 5.50 EUR (Paypal Payment), inside of Germany 2.50 EUR, both uninsured at your own risk. As this is my first transaction, I am sorry the details were not perfect yet. Please, could someone close this topic. This is done. I will send out the PM with payment details now. Thanks for your interest. Cheers, Christopher
  22. Hello everybody, if you'd like to have four fully functional and good shaped monorail switches for your collection, just reply to this post. You only pay shipping & handling costs, the parts are for free. Cheers, ~ Christopher
  23. Hello! Thank you for hosting this contest. The customising has been real fun, as well as regarding the fabulous creations. Congratulations to all winners! Cheers, ~ Christopher
  24. Thanks for the highlight Oky! Well, actually, no. This works like for the 3in1 Creator sets. Just that it is 5in1 here. The original nightspeeder set has only 200 pieces. And the mini models have 362 pieces together, with the Theta shuttle consisting of almost 100 pieces. I am sorry, I should have clarified that before. I also have 15 minifigure left-overs now... Cheers, ~ Christopher
  25. Hello everybody! Every year many people wonder what sets to buy for christmas. Here I'd like to share some ideas and inspiration which might help with that decision. Because set 7957 can be much more than just a misshapen speeder. Set 7957 - Sith Nightspeeder You can use the pieces of set 7957 to build an... -------------------- Imperial Star Destroyer >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Acclamator Assault Ship >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Venator Attack Cruiser >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Porax-38 (Magna Guard) Starfighter >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an (Medium-sized) Theta-class Shuttle >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- Summary Set 7957 is finally a set with plenty of grey wedge pieces, however the variety of SNOT pieces or transparent elements is very limited. There is not even one jumper plate available. Nonetheless the parts collection allows for creation of a number of different alternative models, but you have to figure out some tricky techniques. -------------------- That's it for today! Have a great sunday everyone and happy building! Cheers, ~ Christopher
