  1. The crocodile heads work well on a non-Chima character. And I like the trees and the bushes as well.
  2. I forgot to post it here as well: The Settlers go to Historica – part I: Pinewood cutter
  3. Usually 05,-1 hours. Foliage takes longer because of the many edges and peaks I guess. Yesterday I did a new render with the "better but slower" technique wich took almost 3 hours. Since there are many edges on every build, the chance that at least one ray of light is reflected on an edge is very high. As I noticed the outcome depends on the colors used. As you see on the 2nd picture, the dark brown-reddish brown border looks much better than the dark bronw-dark brown. And the red.brown-red.brown on the wall looks veeery shiny - that's what you meant I guess. And I use LDDtoPOVray for the rendering if it says anything to you, so I can change only those thing that can be adjusted in the program. There is an "antialiasing depth" part in it, I will try it. But my 2nd building looks better I think, you will see
  4. Thanks everone! Yeah, the green door is not my best. Which roof, which part? Your are quite persistent about that real-brick thing. But I still not planning it :) And what is that "shaq"? I don't see any NBA player here I'm almost sure that this question was raised before. I'm not sure if it was you though. The aliasing problem exist in the original picture as well. The case is somewhat better on the 2nd image: If you see the border between the reddish brown and dark brown tiles on the roof which is on the left part of the 1st image, it is much better on the 2nd image. Making it even better is possible I'm sure, I will try my best. As I said, it is balance between quality and rendering time.
  5. I’ve been playing Settlers Online for a couple of weeks and I thought I will try to build some buildings from the game. Since I wanted to make them as similar as possible, I rejected the principle that I use only parts with existing colors. These designs are almost solely for “display” purpose – so they don’t have interiors, since you don’t see it in the game. You cannot rotate the view in the game either, even thought the buildings outer views are designed completely so you can see them from behind – providing that I make renders from that angle as well. J I added the original picture of the building in this post as well. More are yet to come, depending on my designing and building rate, thought I don’t want to rush anything. (I used a bit better version of rendering for this 2nd picture. It's still not perfect, but looks better I think)
  6. Not bad; I like the rocks/snow. Just a few advise if I may: You should remove even digitally the darker grey "corners" of the picture, where - I suppose - the paper sheet ended. It is not difficult to make them disappear, so that the background would be completely homogeneous. And since this is a river, by putting some white/transparent plates at one end of every rock you can imitate the ripples caused by the running river.
  7. That's a wonderful idea! I start designing and "building" as soon as my computer will be ready.
  8. Having some Simpsons characters in lego form sounds good, but I don't think I want to collect all. Some of my favourites from the listed are Homer, Bart and Moe. 9 characters are listed, what do you think the other 7 will be? My guesses: Mr. Burns, Smithers, Krusty, Sideshow Bob (he would be awesome!), Ned, Skinner, Milhouse, oh and the list is full. But hey, there are only 2 females as I see. Maybe Ms. Krabappel and the twin girls (have to buy 2) but who to replace? Oh, this is so hard, lucky that it is not my decision. :)
  9. How about medium lavender bricks? (the bricks on the lower floor)
  10. Beside the colors I like the way you built the tiles on the roof. By the way: in the middle lower third of the roof the 1x2 plates are there for artistic purpose, or those are not really 1x2 plates but something more, and they hold the roof somehow?
  11. I started a series of buildings, but my computer broke down. So now I'm trying to make it work and recover the data. After it I will continue building. I hope data are not lost..
  12. Just one note: If Sir Glorfindel is left-handed (since he holds the shield in the right hand), how is he able to pull out the sword from a scabbard one the left? Not if minifigs could stretch their arms across their torso. This is why they can't clap.
  13. It would be a nice little set I think. But wait, what holds the roof? Is there a hidden hinge on the wall?
  14. So "small" and yet so many details, especially in the rooms. My favourite beside those is the tree with the inverted slope treetrunk and the olive green leaves. And I love the colors of the bricks in the wall. And everything else!
  15. Lasvor Nirhad swears loyalty to Mitgardia once again. I will upload bio shortly. Parts: torso, legs, head, hood, cloak, arms, sword
  16. I can't even imagine how the rocks are positioned into those impossible angles! Great work!
  17. The snot cliffs are very clever. If I may say one "issue" - although I am the one that never makes any actial photo, because I render - the black dragon is almost impossible to see right. I read several times that it is hard to take a picture from a black something, and the contrast with the many golden ridges makes is hard to see what what to see. Or maybe only my screen playing tricks, I don't know. No offense!
  18. Oh, I thought it was obvious that I was kidding. Didn't the smiley help? I know you are right, one of my field of improvement is the "surroundings". I love designing buildings and I'm satisfied with the result (not as if I couldn't improve on that filed as well), but I know the fields are quite plain. So again, sorry if I hurt you, it was not my intention.
  19. de Gothia, are you saying that a DESERT is PLAIN? What a surprise I just concentrated on the statue inside and the story (I love this puzzle) so I just add one or two things.
  20. Yes, it's always a problem to me, how to end an "endless" surface, which is almost vertical. I thought I just cut it at the end of the frame. Besides, that's not the point Lord Duvors: Indeed, that is the question.
  21. The xmas tree market is supercute!
  22. All members of the team got their own assigment to get one ingredient for the potion to bring back Dugal Maclean to life. But the one Lasvor had to find was one of the most mysterious. In the Section of Dark Sorcery of the Library of Cedrica a book was found, which stated that the Eternal Warmth of Charonne can be found in a cave at the side of Erezhi, the Lonely Mountain. Unfortunately no other hint was given what it was, and how to get it. Assuming the source of any warmth could be some kind of fire, Lasvor took a lantern with him. He hired a horse in Cedrica (the Mountain is a few days away even on horseback) and hit the road. He found the cave relatively easily since local folks knew and feared the Mountain greatly. When he wanted to enter the cave, green smoke arose from a hole that was near the entrance, and a genie took shape from it. “I am the Guardian of the Cave and I am here to warn all those lost souls who dare to enter! Inside, you will find two Spirits who guards the fires that hold the Warmth. Yes, two fires, because one of them is false and if you go near it, you die instantly. But if you are wise enough, you can tell which one is the true fire. The two Spirits can help you, but there are some conditions: First you should know that one spirit tells always the truth and the other tells always lies, whatever you ask them. But beware, as you can ask one, and only ONE question to only ONE of them. After you ask one of them, he will answer and will be silent for you forever. You cannot force them to say anything else any more. So ask wisely. If you choose a fire with doubt in your heart, you will die as well, so you MUST know which fire is the right one.” “Hey, but if I ask only one, how will I know if the answer is true or not?” Asked Lasvor, but the genie started again: “I am the guardian of the Cave and I am…” “Okay, this is recorded message.” said Lasvor and stepped aside to untrigger the mechanism. The genie disappeared. He entered the cave. It was not a pleasant please. The air was stuffy and hot, he could even smell burned flesh in it.. “Not the best odds, but okay, let’s think” After a few minutes of thinking, Lasvor asked something, chose one of the fires, held the lantern to the fire, and lit it with it. When he left the cave, the genie appeared again: “Congratulation, you are the first mortal who left the cave alive in 1000 years. So let’s hear he clause: If you tell the solution to anyone, the curse of Charonne will find you and you will die!” “Crap!” And the most important question: What did Lasvor ask? Oh, and I hope I am not the only one who is old enough to know song
  23. Lasvor will be back to Cedrica in a day or two with the Eternal Flame of Charonne.
  24. That's great! My favourite is the snot tower for its unusual technique. Do you now, how many clear plates/cheeses are in the waterfall?
  25. They reached Hungary as well, so I took the same two ones (among others) that you mentioned. The rubbery mask doesn't bother me, why is it problem you think? After you wrote, I checked the spear (and the pitchfork) and they do seem more flexible. Although I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned.
