  1. Yes and even closer to home for LT , Myer TTP was putting them out this morning as well as other new sets such as Princesses and I saw Captain America but no Hulk (but they were still unpacking). Staff were lovely and realise they have to put discount through manually, so if they forget it's an honest mistake so just remind them. They also had a few Republic Gunships which at the lower Myer RRP makes them a good buy at 20% off. The woman said the movie sets are already extremely popular so grab them on discount while you can.
  2. Couldn't see any Lego Movie sets at Myer Adelaide at lunch time. Plenty of Star Wars cloud car planet sets on both clearance table and shelves that I think will be $5.60 after extra 30% off clearance items is accounted for.
  3. The Lego Movie sets must be close. I saw two on display in Toyworld Adelaide today. The ice cream truck and recycle truck. Both versions of each were in the display case. So I assume* they've hit our shores and are probably sitting in the back of storerooms waiting for the official release date. The catalogue says March, so maybe they'll appear this weekend for the last couple days of the Myer sale. *based on the assumption that Lego Australia put these together rather than being shipped assembled from overseas.
  4. Thanks for this and your great set. I'd love to hear you talk about the design process and get the box of my to be purchased copy signed. I reckon you'd make a great guest at the various sci fi and comic conventios around the country.
  5. My dream is for Benny to get his own TV series so Lego will release a whole line of neo-classic space sets.
  6. I got one correct replacement only even though I had requested two (as I had purchased two sets). Can't be bothered chasing it up to get the other one. I think it has a different part number though according to my 'order' for it.
  7. This might be old news but the Back to the Future car is now $59.99 (but not listed as on sale) on shop at home instead of $69.99 that it was before. Maybe it does work when us Aussies vote with our credit cards and don't purchase unfairly priced sets (I'm looking at you Sea Cow). Also for those in Adelaide, there was an R2-D2 at Target Newton last night. Box looked like it had been repaired a little and I assume the 20% off is valid for it. Also it doesn't look like the discounts apply to the junior range of superheroes sets.
  8. Yep, for me it went from a must buy to "I don't think I'd even buy it at 20% off if it makes it to the midyear sales here". Also when they set the prices it's quite possible the Aus $ was 10% higher against the US$ than it is now. I love steampunk and pirate ships, have a decent disposable income so I imagine I would be Lego's target market, however there is no way I would consider paying anything like this price. I wonder who this will appeal to in Australia, the parents that just can't say no to their kids and are forever in debt because of this, the very wealthy and those that aren't real smart with their money are the only groups I can imagine purchasing this.
  9. Congratulations, Brent. Thoroughly deserved. Us fellow Aussies are extremely proud of what you've done. Can't wait to get the set in my hands!
  10. Those classic space logos look printed to me which is a big plus. No-one tell me I'm wrong, please...
  11. Now that is service, the actual set designer resoonding to a problem! Now if only It was in Marcos' power to get a better price for us Aussies and any other countries that have to pay a steep price. Marcos, thanks for another great design, you're giving Jamie B a run for his money as best set designer.
  12. I think there's a simpler reason than those offered. AFOLs know that the Parisian Restaurant will be available for years while the Maersk ship could disappear very quickly as has happened before with the previous Maersk ship(s) (10152 and 10155).
  13. My possibly optimistic theory on the price of the Sea Cow being $300 US and 300 Euros is that people have taken the South African price from kiddiwinks. However, even though most of their sets seem to have what would be a correct RRP, this one they have listed as available in March. Given that it's an exclusive I think the only way they could get their hands on it by March is buying from Lego at full RRP and then marking it up. The Simpsons house has a more reasonable price on their website but says it's not available until May, so that may be when they release it to retailers. One other point with the Sea Cow is that they have no product information so it doesn't look like they were necessarily given a catalogue with details of it in it. And my final, possibly irrelevant, point regarding getting info from this site is that they list the Sea Cow as a 12+ set, whereas the box shows it's 14+, so I wouldn't put total faith in their numbers.
  14. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's actually a radioactive bar like in the opening credits according to the press release. However, I will be pretending it's an inanimate carbon rod.
  15. I don't know if this is national or not but my local Coles at Newton (SA) has series 3 of the friends animals for just $1.25 each. That's the series with the puppy, parrot and fawn. Nice little stocking fillers for young girls for next year or even a few nice parts for MOCers particularly in the fawn set.
  16. Online the extra 10% off code stacks with this. No Colby Cities at Adelaide store but plenty of cavalry packs, silver mines and I think some stagecoaches. I also saw the SSD Star Wars set there, so I guess there'll be a chance at some stage for folks to grab that at 20% or more off.
  17. Sounds like something from the adventurers desert series. Here's a list... http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Adventurers&subtheme=Desert Check them out and I reckon you'll come up with the one. There is also a more recent similar series Pharaoh's Quest which isn't too expensive for a series that is now finished if that's something else you'd like to get your son.
  18. You might be better off describing the set to us, given it was one of your favourites I assume you have some memory of what it was. Those pics aren't that helpful. A quick search of "skull" on bricklink didn't come up with anything that was an obvious match. Even a current photo of the pieces you have, particularly those with any decoration or minifigs would be a great help.
  19. The ship (hopefully becoming a set) in the background of his poster has a white minifig with the classic space symbol on it. If you're able to zoom in enough you can see that this is a full and not damaged logo. So for now I'm optimistic that there will be at least one set with classic space minifig that's undamaged. Also the red and white classic space figs appeared in one of the previews, so hopefully they both show up in sets.
  20. Unfortunately the voucher is $15 off if you spend $60 on clothing in-store, so can't be used with Lego
  21. if you go here and click the instructions tab and download either pdf file there should be pics and details on how many of each set of tracks you'll need. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=7499-1
  22. In Adelaide Myer they had 20% off toys (I didn't notice any Lego exclusions) and had the Opera House (the good one as well as the dud), big X-wing, Sopwith Camel, Mini Modulars and Horizon Express. Also while you're there check out the great displays done by Australia's only Lego certified professional, Ryan McNaught.
  23. I'm not sure what any perks would be. For me the removal of ads wouldn't make much difference because they currently don't majorly interfere with my enjoyment of the site. However I've got a lot of enjoyment from the site over many years and would be more than happy to make ad hoc payments to help with the upkeep.
  24. t Do you remember what rrp was for the lake town chase hobbit set is?
  25. Plenty of Arkham Asylums at Target Adelaide, no R2-D2s though. Also a couple Warg sets that would go down to about $53 $55 on sale.
