How did you like the Clone Wars TV series?
Corvus replied to kill will's topic in Culture & Multimedia
With Filoni answering it, I'm not too hopeful. We'll see, though. In any case, the new episode looks amazing. -
Wow, thanks, guys! Their armor is airtight, so I suppose they can just attach a tube or something and off they go...? I loved that level. I don't think I could make his basilisk though- it has these wierd plates that stick out, like armor over armor. Seems hard to do. In the Bespin level of the Wii and PS2, and maybe others. Didn't the one from KOTOR II look completely different? It looked more like a ship. Maybe KOTOR I? I haven't seen it, no. Now that I look, I can't find many lego ones. We're not feeling special. It's nice to have the level because the 2 systems with bad graphics (wii & PS2) get a little something that the powerful systems(xbox 360 and PS3) don't.

Same thing with every store I've been to. It's not that the set sucks, it's that it's rediculously overpriced.

Not that much...I'd tone it down a little, but it's funny how Cartoon Network censors out 'hell', so it'll be funny to see what they'll think of this. -
The thing that annoys me about clone brands is that they tend to copy other bricks than the standard blocks. For example, MB took the ball-joint from lego to use in their own action-figure(bionicle) line, Marvel figures....

To me, just leaving it would be rude and obnoxious, taking advantage of TLC. I'd go and contact someone...

People texting while driving. I don't mind reading at a restaraunt, but someone hunched over, staring under the table texting annoys me. People texting while driving...on mopeds.

Speaking of which, I just watched the commentary on 'Cloak of Darkness.' I really don't like Filoni's view of clones. How are senate commandos 'elite' to clones? Clones ARE the elite. Sure, the senate commandos might have better armor, but the clones have spent their lives training for battle. Sure, their lives were short, but ten years of very, very intensive training (and being clones of Jango Fett!) would make each and every one an amazing warrior. But no, some are downright stupid... And how do clones have less originality than other humans? I don't get it. I'm sure a clone has a higher IQ than most people, and are much more resourceful. Anyway, you're right that a new commander gets boring. The cool thing about commanders is that they're characters that you can look into- if we get a new one every episode it's just another guy with a cool paint job and a kama. The new episode looks great! Aayla Secura and Commander Bly! Awesome. I'm worried about Rex, though- he looks like he's in a bit of trouble in that teaser. Is it just me, or is Aayla a little.... overly sexy? I mean, I like a shapely Twi-lek too, but she's a little too much for a kid's show. -
You make a really good point here, Asuka. How are kids going to like a theme if they never try it, and instead insist on something they're already tried? The problem with trying a new idea is just that- you're trying something new, crossing your fingers, and hucking it out there in the hopes that it'll catch on. Some themes will of course fail miserably, while others will have a shocking success that you never quite expected. Shooting mechanisms are fun for a little while, but they do get boring very fast. That's because every theme has a shooting mechanism or conflict. Eventually, you're doing the same thing, whether with lasers or with cutlasses. Some people are saying that kids won't like explorer themes- but how will we know? All right, sure, a 'Peace Brigade' set with space people going around and hugging the aliens won't sell so great, but to have a set or two in a theme that focuses on the charaters themselves- giving kids the opportunity to send the figs out to explore, do this, and do that, while still having some alien around to throw in a jail cell sounds like a good combination to me.

After I finished with my Basilisk Snow Droid for the EB Snow Box Derby, I couldn't just scrap it- no, I had to build the real thing. So, I modded and modded until it didn't look a whole lot like the original. Here's what I came up with: It is flexible (one joint midsection, one tail) because I assume that the real thing would straighten out, too, and not just stay permanently bent over. It fits a fig, too. flickr The 'real' thing: Wookiepedia C & C welcome.

Mystery Manor - Chapter Three

Perhaps we should flip through the whole thing, and look for notes or something scribbled inside? -

I think the 'Gungan General' has had the best quotes so far. "I don't want to kill you.... per se. In fact, you seem like decent fellows. Even you, Count." -- Hondo Ohnaka to the Jedi. - "You should be more patient, Master. After all, the Count is an elderly gentleman and doesn't move like he used to." - "I suppose you're right." - "I would kill you both right now if I did not have to drag your bodies." -- Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku - "That can't be right." - "Are you calling me a liar?" - "Isn't that kind of what you do for a living?" -- Anakin and Hondo Ohnaka "Kill him! Kill him! He's no representative! He's a plague!" -- Weequay pirate after dealing with Jar Jar. I liked Obi Wan's response to Hondo: - "Oh, Captain, you will find that Count Dooku does not share our sense of honor... and he knows where you live." Uh oh. -

I finally took a picture of my character! -
At the risk of getting slapped upside the head by kimT, yes, the set is rediculously overpriced. But that's not the only thing that's annoying me about the set. The only good thing in this set to me is Dooku's lightsaber, and maybe dooku himself. He looks horrible in the cartoon, though. The set itself needs something more, like more of an interior. I'm dissapointed that the only thing we can do with it is put Dooku's speeder (which is a pretty nice) in it and stuff the droid in as well. The arms lack anything good, too, since they open oddly and don't do anything.

Thanks, guys! I'm working on setup constantly. It looks like with this setup I'll have to work on the small stuff like pieces and minifigs... Well, the skinny legs and extremely long arms did get to me. I've modded the legs to look a bit thicker, but I don't have shorter arm pieces in black... Thanks for the edit. The best thing about these hands is the ability to punch other figs. I didn't know the cut-off foot bothered some people. I'll work on that. I liked the hands in the first movies. Too bad we couldn't have 4-fingered hands here.
-
Cool! From the top view you can really see the difference between this and the official set. Great job.
-
Well that's just it- we can't. We can guess what's likely, and how much room there is to MOD. I like your idea of a conference table with hologram, but I'd also venture to guess some sort of mini-hangar (with mini-ship like Vader's TIE in the DS, hopefully), and maybe even some sort of small control room.
-
It may not be preportionate to the real thing, but what about how it looks as a lego set in general? I think it looks quite nice if you don't think about the real Venator. It's more minifig and interior friendly, and actually looks quite cute and more able to blend in with other lego sets.

Possible trouble for used LEGO sales in the US
Corvus replied to Deinonychus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually, this won't affect Ebay or Bricklink at all because those are private sales, not official ones. Stores, however, like secondhand stores or collector's stores, will suffer because their sales are 'official'. Things like garage sales, flea markets, Ebay, or Bricklink are private and aren't recorded, other than numbers in a checkbook. If anything, this will help Ebay or Bricklink because more people will be going there to get old toys rather than that poor old secondhand shop across the street. -
Well, they're less common than normal troopers, and it's an added bonus to get one of them in this set than a normal trooper.

"You may fire when ready."

Plenty of places to add a spot for the rubber-tipped shooters. We didn't know there was a launcher in the AT-TE till later, right?

That's....stupid. So it's illegal now because some terror about a bit of stupid lead-based paint from china? It's LEGO. it's plastic. No fear of lead, right? Of course, there are a lot of older toys that have a lot of lead in them... -
I don't mind the fig selection. While I'd like some Clone officers, it's nice to get three new figs and two relatively hard-to-get ones. The set is good too. It has the overall shape and you know what it is, and it's taller so the figs'll have headroom. You guys wanted an interior, right?
