  1. Outstanding! This is the best entry in my opinion, mostly for two reasons. One is because it's an older set and the Western was one of my favorite themes when I was younger. Second, it's the very clever usage of Spongebob characters instead of the different themes divers, which are quite common in everyone's underwater vision of a set! Of course it's also very well detailed and nicely destructed by the waters ... Great job and good luck in the competition!
  2. The model does look promissing, though some details still seems very odd. The part under the cabbin is awful and the rudder? It fits more to a 50W motor boat, not the ship ... The minifigs are awesome, but they too have a flaw. The first one is their selection as discussed before, do we really need another Gibs and Will, with so many characters still missing. And on the Daavy Jones' crew part, I think they really miss the leg printings. Their legs just look too clean. Hadras is a nice example how it should be done. Still can't wait to get my hands on this piece!
  3. Just recently came across this bug - don't know if it's LDD or my computer (it's been acting strange lately). But, it works fine unless I combine the two bricks in the image in the way they are connected on the left. Also that works fine, but whenever I try to select both pieces and mover or rotate them, LDD instantly crashes without any warnings ... Hope it's not been discussed yet, I really didn't read the whole thread ... Just wonder if anyone has similar problems?
  4. According to the set number, you can see it's exactly next to the one from the SpongeBob series, which was already rumored around a while ago and has nothing to do with Pirates nor Pirates of the Carribean theme. There is a Flying Dutchman in that series as well though I don't watch it and don't know who or what it is ...
  5. Just curious, are the stickers applied already? Also what are the prices you're looking for? I'm interested in 8036 and 8093. What would the postage be to Slovenia?
  6. So many cool avatars! I really love the transition ones and I think everyone should put in his prior avatar next to the underwater version to see the modification! The most I like: Horry - 1 point Oky - 1 point Wardancer - 1 point - not a transition but a really cool underwater monster thingy and smart use of the Gungan shield!
  7. Now that there's a voting thread, I looked at all entries and I particulary love your last wagon! The vertical build really gives the wagon a cool wooden texture look. Great idea and realisation. However I'm not to fond of the rest of the train especially for the color scheme. It looks too colorful to me, too cartoony and unrealistic. Though I know the old westeren trains used to be all different colors, I've never seen anything purple ... But I still think it's one of the better trains in this competition mostly for two reasons. First is the perfect last wagon and second is te fact you made all wagons 8 studs wide, which gives you better possibilities in detailing the train. Also making a brickbuilt engine instead of using any round pieces is a plus, especialy because it's so well done!
  8. It looks like that Barris Offee has a dark blue hood. If that's the case it's really cool!
  9. Thanks for the pics, the minifigs are so cool! So what's up with the Black Pearl? It's Semptember already! The wait is killing me. Anyone has any insider information about the exact release date? Also any rumors on what's happening to the line in 2012? Every theme has some news some even have the pictures ... but Pirates? Pirates should be first to know anything about the illegal stuff ;)
  10. I really like the Genosian cannon set. Getting more Genosians without having to buy the expensive Genosian starfighter is a plus. Also I like the Barris minifig which I missed for not geting the boring swamp speeder ...
  11. If the key in POTC and other pirates themes can be that big, the bottom of it (in gold color) can clearly represent the ring and it'd be OK I think ...
  12. As already said in your previous thread with the LDD creation, this must look good in real bricks and it really does. Shame you couldn't complete it for the competition since it'd definitely win you something! I just have one minor problem with your story pics - Jack was cuffed to the mast and not just his hands ... someone has a really nice pic of that in his signature!
  13. It's all known parts, just different placement. In sets we used to get either Jack with his hat and his brown coat on, or Jack with no hat and his blue shirt on. Then what it seems in Black Pearl Jack will come in his brown coat with no hat (since it's from the 2nd movie) and then we get the last combination of parts: the one in the blue shirt with the hat. Everything seems to be same parts, except if the head has a new back print.
  14. I don't see any outlines in my model. I f the walls were higher they'd also seem as one big block of the same color. For the tiles however I used different colors, that's why you can see them. Also are you using the extended mode of the LDD? For more specific questions I'd suggest to turn to the people in the Digtal designers subforums.
  15. If you're asking about the pentagon shape, I described it in my first post. I calculated what the angles in the pentagon are and used the number in aligning the hinge to that angle. Angles in pentagon are 108 degrees and in LDD you use 72 for the hinge - since open (180) for LDD it is 0 degrees ... I then attached the side wall to the hinge piece with some flats and made them longer for two studs for the hinge of the next wall to attach there. The hinge is only on one side of the wall. I then copied this group of bricks five times. The rotation must be used to get the one most appropriate angle from the 4 available in the LDD, and then the hinge automatically aligns to the overlapping two studs of the flats. As for the towers - I again calculated the angles, did some drawings and math and then started in one corner. I used two long flats to stick out of two walls, and then made a wall of the tower with two hinges in different lengths 8 - 12 and then tried if any would align to the flats sticking out ... the results are shown in the previous post. LDD is quite tricky sometimes! You always need the base for what you're putting on, or you can only put it to the imaginary ground. You can't even place barrels on stud-less bricks, you always need a workaround, which are pretty simple to use, once you get the idea!
  16. Lovely MOC, I really like the explosion, it's a great idea. Also the smoke from wheels is a nice touch. I might just add that I never liked mixing the fleshies with the yellow heads. Especially in your MOC since there's just a few fleshies and could easily be replaced by yellow heads or just left out. There's enough crowd there already! Else everything looks fine. The relief is also great, I wish I had so many tan or dark tan plates ...
  17. Amazing! I Really love how the angled part fits into the dio not using too many flat tiles (or just hiding them well) so that the landscape has a cool study overall look.
  18. Finaly! I was wondering how things work from behind and this chimney is an excelent idea. Very well done as always!
  19. Ok since there's talk about decorations I'll ask here though it might've been answered but I can't find it. Why doesn't LDD contain all the possible decorations there are produced by TLG or at least support any way of importation of custom drawn ones. I know in this case we'd immediately get all the official ones and some extras out! Same goes for all the bricks that existed in the past and exist now. Why aren't they all included? I thought this could be a really cool ultimate tool in that case! I imagine that custom bricks would be a bit hard to achieve though ...
  20. Yes I think every cowboy used to have a horse so I think it's missing there. But the diorama and the rocks is great and far better than the first version. About the fig, it's great! As I've stated elsewhere I love custom parts on LEGO in such competitions, especially if they are done in such a good way and blend into LEGO greatly. Nice job!
  21. Hey, this is really great news for me! I am glad since criticizing is quite my habit and this time I was able to do something with it. Well it's more stating my opinion rather than just criticizing, so everyone have in mind that all my comments were frank and also quite subjective. Which means that some other people might like something the other way and please do not feel offended in any way! Luckily I found enough time for this competition to also participate in both categories, because I really don't like to criticize without doing anything myself. I only regret I ran out of time for my third version of the story, but that's life ... Also congratulations to all the others, there were really some good points stated especially in the stories part of the competition! At the end I'd use this place to say a big thanks to the organizers and also all the competitors. I was positively surprised by the amount of entries in both categories and really hope that the line continues in the next year, since it's currently my favorite theme!
  22. I did not mean no offence, I just stated my opinion. For me it's just the idea that counts in your example and of course the possession of certain parts. But the word custom has a bigger meaning for me. I prefer seeing something that has not been produced yet. Some peoples abilities (not my) of sculpting are really awesome and the finished product looks just like LEGO if not sometimes even more detailed. I prefer seeing it the way LEGO would've done it with some new parts ... For example your Hun minifig (which by the way is really cool) for me looks a bit odd knowing that there's a tire in his head. If it was a real collectable minifig LEGO would make a new mold for the hat and you could also sculpt one out of putty (if it was allowed in the competition) and would look better for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't like your work nor ideas for I too am not customizing my LEGO for my MOCs. I don't even use the unofficial accessories ... But in a custom minifig competition where everything is allowed, that's a different story!
  23. Here in Slovenia in Müller shops theya're currently selling series 3 and 4 minifigs for 1€ each instead of usual 1.99! I sure had to get a bunch of them ...
  24. My opinion is that it is very hard. There are mostly two reasons for it: one is time and the other is money. If you want to make money from LEGO you have to either sell rare and unique sets or very old sets. For first it's very time consuming finding and getting a lot of rare sets and then waiting for things to settle down and find people who are willing to buy them. I have the feeling that all the hardcore AFOLs have their own sources of getting the rarities and therefor there's only a few of them that missed the time and want to buy it from you - also depends on price. Selling older sets is another problem. Buying a bunch of them today maybe even taking a loan, and then waiting for their price to go high. Sometimes it's 5 years and more and even then the prices are not as high as your loan costs will be. Also there's only a couple of people that will pay a very high price for older sets. But as of selling current sets it's always easier for one to go for a trip or to a local store and buy what they want without any extra costs of stupidly expensive postage ... The third option is of course buying a lot of any sets and then disassembling them and sell parts separately. But that sure eats enormous amount of time and even if selling parts for a higher price according to price/piece in a set, there's always some uninteresting parts in every set that you will find laying around.
  25. This is a cool diorama however the figure is not that outstanding and I think it should be for the purpose of category 3. As a custom minifig I really wanted to see some custom made hats, decals, coats or paintings on minifigs ... Though I must say I really like the tree, rocks and the broken carriage. The only addition to the land would be some relief on the ground - a few more plates to make the ground uneven.
