  1. God... it's taken me a little to get my thoughts together about this wave. It truly feels like nothing was left off the table. Every one of the vehicles is impressive and unique. There's a TON of unique figs (including THREE variants of each of the original four ninja), returning heroes AND villains including fan-favorites like Skylor. An abundance of new molds and recolors. An awesome golden dragon and a full-size mech WITH working knees. I would've been perfectly happy with a wave like Seabound or the Island, where you could get more or less every fig in two or three sets and I could use the money saved on the rest of the wave on the new Monkie Kid sets or something. But in this wave none of the sets feel skippable, and not just because of the abundance of unique figs but also because every one of the sets feels new, fresh, and exciting.
  2. Ooh, the train station looks to be the first set since Hidden Side to use those new rerailer pieces! I'm glad, they're a great option for sets that don't have a full loop of track on their own.
  3. A couple set pics are on instagram. Gonna hold off on full thoughts until we have the full suite of pics but what I see looks great so far!
  4. Realistically, it'd be more practical for an electric charging station like this to be wired to a larger renewable power grid, but I feel like in a tiny set like this, the solar panels are useful as a "signifier" of sorts. Without them, there'd be little indication of the scooters being electric at all, or that the bulky build is meant as a charging station. By including a source of renewable energy in the set itself, the overall message of renewable electric transportation comes across without having to figure out how to effectively imply the existence of external infrastructure to support it.
  5. Yeah, this is most likely a Legoland promotional set. As such I wouldn't hold out a ton of hope for historic fig parts, since the included figs are more likely to be park staff or tourists.
  6. Yeah, while I understand the desire for a "well-coordinated" train color scheme (like the still-lovely Maersk Train set), the reality of freight rail (at least where I'm from) is that a freight train will carry a lot of cars with varied color, branding, etc. Heck, this would probably be more realistic if the sides of the containers were graffitied as well. Also, in regards to whether the color choices were to save money, the brown container panels at least are a brand-new recolor (whereas if they'd wanted them to match one of the other cars those were already available in teal from as recently as last year).
  7. These days, the "official" reveal of sets tends to be a month or so in advance in most cases. There are certainly exceptions (like the summer Super Mario sets being revealed on Mar. 10 for "Mario Day"), but in general a month ahead of release is when Lego has been putting up shop listings complete with high-res pictures, alt pics and video turnarounds. Second half-year set release windows can vary (some being as early as June and some being much later). For instance, last year in City the Wildlife Explorers sets came out earlier in the summer but the "Stuntz" subtheme was September or later IIRC. So it's not totally unlikely that some of the City sets will be revealed in the next couple of days (assuming the farm and cargo train sets weren't all that's due in June), but that's not to say those will be everything we should expect for the rest of the year.
  8. Is that a removable extra wool piece on the sheep? It looks different/bulkier from the one in the earlier Mickey Mouse farm.
  9. A Havoc in Heaven set? That could have to do with the S3 finale/special (assuming there is one this year, as opposed to the S3 story being resolved next year), but it could also be another set largely based on the Monkey King's origin story like most of the Flower Fruit Mountain set. "Havoc in Heaven" describes the arc following the Monkey King's time on Flower Fruit mountain, when he manages to earn his way into heaven and, well, causes his fair share of havoc. This arc is where the Monkey King got a lot of his powers as well as his reputation as a trickster hero. It was also adapted into an iconic Chinese animated film in the 1960s. Assuming these set names are correct, this might have been teased in the City of Lanterns set, which features a sticker advertising "HAVOC IN HEAVEN 6D IMAX" (which I had otherwise assumed to just be alluding to the classic film's popularity). A set of the Celestial Realm (if that is what it is) could be really promising and I'm eager to see what it looks like! Your gripes with the theme, its pricing, and its availability outside of Asia are certainly valid! I am luckily able to afford even the larger sets in the theme, but even then I am frustrated by the theme's uneven sales, distribution and media strategy in the U.S. (not helped by the relative lack of promotion and communication from Lego about it).
  10. Do you mean if the curtains were brick-built? The opening and closing of the curtain is one of the main features of a set like this, and for that they need to be fabric anyway.
  11. It's not a stud in the corner—it's a 1x1 "nipple" plate that's presumably attached through a hole in the cloth (probably to a 1x1 plate with hole, to weigh down that corner of the curtain since a thin fabric curtain doesn't have the natural weight of a real one)
  12. That was introduced last year for Vidiyo (used to attach the tiles to scan in the "beatbox" sets). Nice and versatile, though, so I doubt this is the last we'll see of it.
  13. Ooh, very nice. Love the look of the engine. And Reddish Brown is a very good new color for those corrugated panels. EDIT: And that new plant piece with branching stems is very interesting! I'm assuming we'll see more of that in the farm sets.
  14. The figure on the left could hardly be more plain. And the one on the right looks pretty funky, but not unrealistically so. Neither one has "off-model" faces like in the Time-Cruisers theme.
  15. Videos of the theater school! Lots of fun details and easter eggs, as well as a better look at the facade with it closed up. EDIT: More pics here as well https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/lego-friends-andreas-theater-school-41714/23A4P7/
  16. EDIT: Posted in the wrong topic, please delete.
  17. I was wondering if there was any way to turn off the audio when you visit the site and have a new notification? Occasionally I'll tab over to Eurobricks while watching/listening to something else and be startled by the loud notification sound. It's a minor complaint but if there was any way to set notifications to be visual only (no audio "ping"), I'd really appreciate it.
  18. A new molded dragon in a D2C set is unlikely. New molds in D2C sets are somewhat rare due to the high cost of new molds and the lower-than-average production volume for D2C sets (in other words, it's harder for a new mold to "pay for itself" from a D2C set alone). When they do occur, they're often things like figure parts (especially for a licensed theme where such parts would be essential to properly represent a given character) or structural/mechanical elements that can be reused elsewhere more easily, rather than costly preassembled parts like large molded animals or bigfigs. Larger molded animals are typically more likely to come from normal retail sets that get produced and distributed in higher volume.
  19. Does it? To me it looks brick-built (possibly using this piece and this piece for the sides). Can't quite tell what's used to finish off the front and back of the engine.
  20. First picture of Andrea's Theater School (via Lego's instruction manual page). Smallish pic but it looks great!
  21. IIRC a big part of the reason 9V tracks with exposed metal rails went away had to do with evolving toy safety standards and requirements. Current regulations in the U.S. at least bar the use of live electrical components that are not sealed in protective plastic, which would include 9V powered rails. I guess Lego could possibly return to offering metal-sheathed rails WITHOUT having them be powered (maintaining battery powered trains on metal tracks), but doing so would be a pretty big expense for a mere cosmetic upgrade—not a recipe for success for an already expensive range of products.
  22. Not really something novel parts-wise but I love the two brick-built ravens situated above the sail—undoubtedly a reference to Odin's ravens Huginn and Muninn.
  23. That's more or less what the Creator 3-in-1 castle did. All three alternate builds could be connected together into one larger castle. The downside is that doing something like that often requires some compromises to get multiple uses out of the same parts, and can end up leaving a fair number of "leftover" parts anyway. And doing an expensive set that way could risk the base model of the set feeling "incomplete", which isn't necessarily the most appealing thing for buyers who can only budget one copy of the set instead of two or three. Of course, even if the set isn't designed with that kind of expansion in mind, castle parts are good for both building and expanding castles—so I don't doubt that fan builders might come up with something using multiple copies of the set anyway.
  24. Just FYI, Season 3 has started airing in Hong Kong (available with both Mandarin and English audio). Not a ton new to glean from it so far (apart from Sandy's van being named the "Total Environment Automobile or T.E.A.), but it's nice to have and the English script and voiceover remains high-quality. I'm really hoping to see the summer sets from this theme soon, but it's not unlikely that as a largely Lego-exclusive theme in most regions it might be one of the last to be leaked or revealed.
  25. To be quite honest it's not all that common for large D2C sets to introduce new molds unless it's some sort of essential building element or occasionally, a licensed character part. For a non-licensed set like this, I doubt we'd see something like a new goat mold since a goat, while nice to get, is hardly essential for the subject matter in question. Even if they wanted to have livestock (which itself I think isn't the most essential for a castle), it'd be easier and cheaper to use something like the pig or sheep that'd free up more of the set's budget to use elsewhere. In terms of "likelihood" I still think the most likely way a new goat would be released wouldn't be with a D2C set like this, but rather in something like a CMF series accompanying a goatherd/farmer figure of some sort. And I don't think the chance for that is going to go away any time soon.
