  1. They aren't glow-in-the-dark and they aren't yellow, either. They're Spring Yellowish Green, a semi-recent color that has been scarce up until now. The Ninjago summer wave is the first theme to use them this extensively, but they were also used alongside White Glow and Earth Blue in the recent "Glowkies" Mixel tribe, and appeared in a few Lego Movie sets including Cloud Cuckoo Palace (for a castle wall element) and MetalBeard's Sea Cow (on Queasy Kitty).
  2. Fixed for me too. Unfortunately, still no brick update... but honestly at this point having the software function correctly is good enough.
  3. Same here. And, just checking to see if there's any temporary workaround, the filter on the brick palette in extended mode has the same issue. The only way to change colors to anything other than red is to switch to LDD classic mode (or, for a much more limited selection, Mindstorms), at least until this error is fixed.
  4. My LDD is affected by this as well. I only hope it gets fixed promptly... and perhaps that it indicates that an actual update is coming soon.
  5. I mean, I'm sure it might be on sites like that eventually! Just like I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up on DVD at some point. But honestly I'm not even sure Disney Channel coordinated this airing with Lego very well—I don't recall the airing being so much as mentioned on Lego's social media accounts, and even the channel itself didn't grace us with so much as a press release (if anyone here watches Disney Channel regularly, I'd be interested to know if they even ran commercials for it beforehand).
  6. Not yet, unfortunately. I imagine it will become available eventually, but I don't know how soon—frankly, I was surprised how little promotion even the two airings this weekend got.
  7. While I'm not going to argue that that discussion is better suited to culture and multimedia, your comment that Lego figures can't possibly have a family resemblance is way off base. Just look at Josh Thunder compared to his dad, Johnny. Yeah, they lack the specific facial features you mentioned, but they still resemble one another in other ways (in particular, they're both doing the same eyebrow thing, which may not be a genetic trait but is certainly enough to convey a family resemblance in such an abstract medium). And... that's all I really had to say. Something, something... Ninjago?
  8. Not even getting into whether or not Lloyd qualifies as a Mary Sue (I think he's been developed pretty well, ESPECIALLY in the current season premiere and the most recent chapter book), do you honestly think that him getting possessed will mean he'll be cut out of the cast for good? Because in all likelihood he'll rejoin the cast once the summer villains are all dealt with/exorcised, just like how Zane is rejoining the main cast this summer.
  9. I would say that Lord of Skull Spiders is anything BUT puny. He may take up less space than the $20 sets purely in terms of volume, but his overall size with his legs spread out easily rivals Onua, the largest figure this year (and he can wrap those legs around Onua with no problems). He's easily a match for the Toa, particularly seeing as his modus operandi seems to involve picking them off one by one. Frankly, I wonder what people were WANTED LoSS to be like. Perhaps they hoped for him to dwarf the Toa like an AT-AT such that the six Toa would have to each focus on one leg? I can't see him being anything other than comical at a much larger scale. As for poseability... again, a fully-articulated spider at that scale is ridiculously hard to pose. One point of articulation per leg is plenty considering his need to support his own weight and the difficulty of balancing a six-legged model when the legs won't stay put.
  10. As someone who loved the scarcely-poseable '01 Rahi, I don't see what everyone's upset about. Lord of Skull Spiders has plenty of articulation for a set his size and looks fantastic (and having built a fully articulated spider MOC about the same size at one point, I'm actually HAPPY Lord of Skull Spiders isn't half as much of a burden to pose). Skull Scorpio is undoubtedly a weaker design, but that's partly due to the skeletal theme of the summer villains allowing for it. I would definitely throw my vote in for more Rahi—but if they opt for poseability over unique functions I'll be severely disappointed to say the least.
  11. The problem is that a parent of a kid who only owns standard System and Technic parts might order cool-looking CCBS parts only to find that they're incompatible with their child's collection. CCBS is two degrees separated from standard System building styles, and a buyer could conceivably mistake the connection points for other ones like towballs/mixels joints if they had no familiarity with the system, especially on the online shop where the scale of parts isn't always obvious. Part of me thinks that now that physical Pick-a-brick walls in stores have rotating "themed" bins (such as pink and purple elements in a "great with Lego Friends" bin), Lego could conceivably bring back CCBS at physical locations by explicitly labeling the parts as "great with Bionicle." But then again, I don't know much about the logistics and marketing of Lego parts apart from what Lego explicitly shares, so perhaps even that would be impractical.
  12. The thing is that the Lego Fusion "scanner" is really just a grid to take photos against. It's non-immersive and only allows interactivity insofar as simple, two-dimensional builds can be scanned into the software. I can't see any way that that would be able to function with CCBS builds, at least not with current technology. The app bricks, on the other hand, are conductive and thus allow Lego objects to interact with multitouch screens. The Ultra Agents app, the first such app to use this, uses small builds with multiple app bricks to control the game itself (for instance, at Nuremberg Toy Fair a Lego employee demonstrated a game that allowed you to use a build with two app bricks as a "paddle" that could be dragged along the screen in a pinball-like game). I'm not sure exactly how this could best be integrated into CCBS sets, but it could be done—imagine physical masks or weapons that could be tapped to the screen as in-game power ups. If there was to be any such integration, it'd make more sense to have a single new "app brick"-like element that can be attached to Technic connections, and have that year's masks or weapons feature connection points for that particular element in a variety of configurations.
  13. Sand Blue is definitely NOT discontinued... it was absent from sets for a little while, but brought back in the Pet Shop modular. It hasn't ever appeared in CCBS, though.
  14. I found another error! The stud on the back of part 15391 can't attach to Technic holes, even though as a part with only a single stud and no collisions it should be able to.
  15. It's not implausible that there might be a store-exclusive set—in fact, I'd consider the likelihood higher than it was in HF's later years due to the potential for stores to want to capitalize on hype for the new theme. There's no clear evidence for one, but not a lot of evidence against one either. That said, there are PLENTY of opportunities left for additional masks to be released, whether or not additional sets are yet to be revealed. Gifts-with-purchase could very easily be released later in the year (a second one from Lego might not be all that likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if Toys R Us releases one during their annual "Bricktober" event, and other retailers might surprise us with one as well). I wouldn't be surprised if Dorling Kindersley released a Bionicle visual dictionary or guidebook within the next two years, which would most likely include an exclusive mask recolor. And beyond that, there's the potential for Lego to do something they haven't done before—like the Target-exclusive minifigure cube from last year, which caught everyone by surprise.
  16. I had considered that part for Grievous as well. I think its bare-bones look would work for him, and I feel that as far as price was concerned it would be offset by the multiple arms and digitigrade legs (not to mention being bolstered by friction extenders, probably at both ends, to support the arms and upper body).
  17. I generally prefer the 2.0 and Brain Attack torsos to the Breakout one, largely because of the Breakout torso's weird triangular shape. The 2.0 torso broadens near the bottom, resulting in a much more continuous waistline and a fuller figure, and the Brain Attack torso does the same while having a slightly more slender appearance. The Breakout torso, on the other hand, narrows to a point, with a ridiculously thin 3M waistline that's exaggerated by the "utility belt". Also, the molded pecs and abs of the Breakout torso make it less versatile for other parts of models, such as Tahu's legs or LoSS's abdomen. I am also interested in the look of the new torso shell from Luke Skywalker, which seems like it could have a lot of potential for non-mechanical figures.
  18. Maybe... but that sounds suspiciously similar to the final episode of Galidor.
  19. That's a perfect name. Now if they're named anything else I'll probably be disappointed.
  20. I'll emphasize that second point. I like new masks as much as the next guy... but do we really need 4–6 different varieties of skull mask? I feel like two are plenty—if anything, maybe they should have alternated the colors like the 2011 HF Fire Villains did, but even then you'd most likely just get Titanium Metallic and Silver Metallic, which is not that huge of a difference. Mind you, I agree with the other parts too (spoopy skeletons are neat and the color schemes are GORGEOUS), but I feel it's important for folks who wish they all had distinct masks to reexamine exactly what their request would amount to.
  21. Ah, sorry. Disregard that comment. I thought the comment I was replying to was the most recent post in the topic, but it was really several pages back. Stupid mobile interface...
  22. That's a bogus argument. Firstly, just because a theme started using CCBS mechs wouldn't mean that themes which were already primarily System-based (like Ninjago) would completely abandon System-based mechs. To do so would be as stupid as releasing a vehicle that was 90% Technic in Lego City—while it could conceivably look good and fit visually with the other sets, a kid who got that along with a System-based vehicle in the same theme would understandably get frustrated by the limited compatibility of the parts. That's not an issue with these sets, since the difference in scale is clue enough that these are distinct from other Star Wars sets. Secondly, themes like Ninjago are ALREADY integrating CCBS into mech sets, particularly smaller ones where complex system shaping is not a realistic option. An Exo-Force reboot would be an ideal vehicle for furthering the potential for that sort of integration, maybe even with new parts like bricks with integrated CCBS "knee joints". It's not like "all System" and "all CCBS" are the only two options—it's entirely possible for the two to be used hand in hand.
  23. I just noticed an error—unlike other parts with a single stud, the stud of 11610 (the ice cream cone) can't attach to Technic axle holes. I can't see any reason why that shouldn't work.
  24. Yeah. Their inclusion is no more notable than the "Clutch Powers" reference a few seasons back. It's a cute cameo (and an easy way to avoid having to design and render as many original characters), nothing more.
  25. The 6M shells (not 8M, don't know where you're getting that) are most likely printed. When a set has stickers you can see the edges of the stickers in renders. There's no such indication in the pics we've had of Darth. Plus, the 6M shell piece has been printed before: in Scorpio from 2011. The only stickers we've ever had in CCBS sets were on parts which had never before been printed.
