CLUES: The Beginning
The Middleman replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Although there was that locked door. -
How similar Vikings to other themes?
The Middleman replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
They're a mix. They are sea raiders that travel on large ships looking for treasure, but on the other hand, they have medieval armor, weapons, and fortresses. -
You also get a good dozen LARGE plates in this color in Vladek's Dark Fortress, and a couple smaller ones in Scorpion Prison Cage. It reminds me of wet sand.

Happy Birthday System !!!!!!!!
The Middleman replied to xwingyoda's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The classification system on Bricklink disagrees with you... Ninja, KK1, and KK2 are not in the 'classic castle' section. Hence 'classic'. Vikings is actually counted as a separate line. -
Front paged! Thanks, chewie!
-
As an added bonus, everyone who doesn't will have their avatars wiped off! :-D Just kidding. ... or am I... :)
-
Hey yoda, This is sort of old news, been talked about a couple times before. They just hit Singapore. I'd like a couple copies of the Sea Fortress set, PM me if you're willing to help. :)
-
Looks great, I'll be picking some up. Thanks sam!
-
I'll take the liberty of saying 'yes'. As long as the majority are pieces used in SYSTEM/MINI sets, not BIONICLE/TECHNIC, everything should be fine. Go for it!

The Duplo 50th tub is up on S@H Europe, but not the others. How odd.
-
I think it's just in store. Or perhaps you may want to check their webpage www.bricksworld.com. The dealer told me that she once sent a package to taiwan and the customer paid her via paypal. PMed. :-D

I could definitely swing for a few of THOSE combos. Is this online or just in stores? If it's just in stores or doesn't ship to the US, I could use some international assistance...

As much as we hate to believe it, there is such a thing as marketing psychology. Price points must be maintained, and in Europe, LEGO must remain a top-of-the-line toy, which means retaining high prices to keep the image. This may not be something us LEGO connosieurs take into account, but we are heavily involved in everything to do with LEGO, are we not? We're not LEGO's main market - last figure I heard was 70% kids/parents buying solely for kids, and 30% AFOLs. They know AFOLs, for the most part, will stay dedicated, so their main efforts are concentrated on maintaining their largest yet more unstable market. When a kid goes into a store that doesn't frequent forums or run amok on Bricklink, the marketing psychology LEGO employs will apply. I know prices are extravagant in Europe at the moment, but it's not pointless - what is pointless is bickering about it as if you're going to stage an uprising. ;)

Review: 4768 Harry Potter - Durmstrang Ship - Picture

[burns]Excellent...[/burns] I love those parts shots, great stuff in there! This really is a good sign for the new line, hopefully there'll be the same level of usefulness in the others. Thanks for taking the time to finish it up! Did you scan the back of the instructions? -

I'm interested in the scan of the back... I have an idea for a new avatar. :) -
Oh come on, Boba's Slave 1 would've been awesome. Damn poll... people.
-
Hey, Sorry to hear that, Ras. I wish you the best of luck. I hope to see you around in the chat!

Kid and Adult Fans Of Lego. I always thought T should be somewhere in there... :P

Hey! Wow, great decals! One thing, though - would you be able to apply those arm decals? I think it'd make more sense just to use a plain arm/hand. I'd love to see these applied!

They are compatible. They connect, at least. The old motor can't run on them, but that's the price you pay for a much larger piece count in the sets. Besides, the 9V system will be continued as well - the two versions will coexist. The advantage of this one is that it can be marketed in stores and has a higher piece count.
-
Oh, I see, Factory and RC Trains aren't enough for you? :-D

Excellent, Matt! I can't wait to get my copy in. Keep it up! -
First Recording Second Recording KEY POINTS: General - They're returning to a basic system - Cutting down from 15,000 pieces a few years back to a goal of 7,000 (at 8,000 now) Vikings - Vikings sales have been OVERWHELMING and I QUOTE - Viking in October at TRU in US, Vikings at Woolworth's in the UK already, and on S@H towards the end of the year. Star Wars - They will 'find ways to continue' the Star Wars line LEGO Factory - On August 25th, you can use LEGO Digital Designer to design your own set based on a limited palette of parts and buy as many copies as you want of your own and other peoples' design. You can design your own box. It will arrive in the same time it takes for a normal set to arrive. - If you upload a model, it will show the price. You cannot view the price in LDD. - Popular models that get bought frequently and viewed frequently might be supported by LEGO. Royalties will be provided. - Technic parts pack will be provided for LEGO Digital Designer, may include pneumatic at some point. - Minifigs are 'on the drawing board' and 'coming soon...' - It will tell you all the models you can build with the pieces in your model, and allow you to view the instructions for them. - Virtual building instructions. - Price points will be $15-$60 in the first stage and up to $400 or so in the second stage. There will be a minimum price for the cost of the process itself. Price-per-piece will get cheaper as the model gets larger. - Parts will be separated into many categories that you can download for LDD (Airplane, Train, etc.). More will be added as time goes by. Trains - they will release an Ultimate Train Kit, a train bulk box. - there will be a Train Contest, towards end of the year. Locomotive and car contests. The winners will have a set with their name on it. - Remote control train, uses COMPATIBLE PLASTIC TRACK. Due to lower cost of track, trains will be 'packed full of stuff.' Called 'Play Train'. Uses infrared for control. Less complex than trains such as the BNSF, but still not extremely <insert that tiresome argument>. This will retail in stores. - LEGO Train Factory will allow you to design your own train, using a train-specific palette. You can, again, buy others' trains as well as your own.

http://peeron.com/inv/sets/10143-1 Whoa. Before release date. That MUST be some sort of record. Things of interest: - 460 dark blay 1x2 bricks! :o - Red-brown ship steering wheel...? Probably part of the construction, funny anyway. - Plate 8x8 without corner in light blay. That's a really cool piece. I might buy this after all... maybe it'll go on my Christmas list. Enjoy! PS - the inventory for the smaller Viking boat is up as well.
