  1. Suggestions: Prizes: Grand Prize (best overall monster): Viking Catapult vs. Nidhogg Dragon 1st Prizes (all three categories): Viking Boat vs. Wyvern 2nd Prizes (all three categories): Viking Warrior vs. Fenris Wolf As that would be pretty costly ($70 or so), maybe a few people could split the cost? I also suggest limiting it to INHUMAN entries, because there are a few smartalecks out there that would try to enter Timmy. Oh, and also limiting it to SYSTEM-based creations, because you know those BIONICLE fans... I think one entry per person per category would be better than two, as well. A cool deadline would be October 30th, so that we could announce the winners of the MONSTER contest on Halloween. But, that's just me being dramatic. :P As far as the judges go, I'd suggest: - SuvieD - had the idea for the contest - Sarg Kulo - ran previous contests - Akkhraziel - extensive knowledge of mythology and 'present-day' monsters - ed_dotcom - extensive knowledge of Castle-related creations - mr. lego_bildur - just because. It's good to keep admins out of there, as we are, of course, friendly with each other, and may therefore feel guilty about voting for someone other than another admin. Oh, and you have to keep the odd number so there can't be a tie. Anyway, that's all my ideas for tonight. If you guys get this off the ground, we'd be happy to promote it. ;)
  2. My two cents: Nobody's really saying that a military isn't good (or that it isn't bad). LEGO's policy is that it does not produce weapons or war vehicles used in wars up to a hundred years in the past. The only exceptions have been the Sopwith Camel and the Red Baron, which don't really count, as they're decorative pieces rather than playthings. The reason for this, I can only assume, is that WWI and WWII are still fresh in the minds of many Europeans, and seeing a tank - even if American - would not entice them to buy LEGO for their children, and might even turn them away from it. Medieval wars, on the other hand, are much less recent, as I think we can all agree. These have been romanticized for centuries and nobody actually remembers them. This is a very kosher subject for LEGO to work with. Oh, and I agree that the lampshade comment sounds derogatory, and is used in a way that suggests that Europeans are 'ungrateful'. As this is Eurobricks, I don't think that's really a good thing to say. I'm won't delete it, but don't repeat it.
  3. I might have to pick up a few of these... mountain piece, black doors, light blay door hooks... if anyone does find them, let me know.
  4. Yeah, I had that problem too. Still, not a HUGE deal...
  5. Well, this was on a while back, but still - I'm hoping the price for the wall is good. It has one of those metal shadow knights. ;)
  6. Well, the event is happening tomorrow, and that's taking up just about any money that would go towards prizes. Maybe in a few months. :)
  7. I think the Euro versions are being released for the rest of the world, unfortunately. Sorry!
  8. Well, if Dino Attack's not trying to tap into that market, I don't know what is. I think that's pretty obvious.
  9. Dinosaurs are coming to a town or train station near you! Well, on the box pics (in the US, at least), it clearly depicts burning modern cities in the background. So yes, I assume that train stations and/or various towns might be under threat as well. :)
  10. Well, the majority of the Dino topics are in Town/Trains, and all the pics are there. Check em out. ;)
  11. Let's take off his shoes and examine them. Oh, and search all his pockets as well.
  12. It's a technic 3x3 disc in black with a pneumatic T-piece stuck in the axle hole. A sticker is then applied.
  13. A recommendation for ed for the 21 BURPs and the archery target. Thanks again, ed!
  14. You know you can use the same username for both, right?
  15. Now that you mention it, the torso patterns do look different.
  16. Well, this still means your sets will have less pieces, and a lot more pretty useless TECHNIC beams. Still, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Steel Sprinter and a Fire Hammer from Europe...
  17. I think the Hummer looks better without the catapult, the steel sprinter looks much better with the chain, and the chopper looks almost as good (did they remove the back cockpit? *wacko*). The tank, however, sucks. The Urban Avenger is pretty much identical. PS - front page'd. Kudos to Christian.
  18. I was thinking that LEGO could turn the linking system they use for the fortress into something like what they did for King's Castle way back when. The idea was that you could take other sets and attach them to the main castle to expand it. They also worked well as standalone scenes. There also needs to be an opposing force. Say, someone that's out to CAPTURE ALL THE EVIL BEASTS and USE THEM FOR VARIOUS NEFARIOUS PLANS or something. It could be a different faction of Vikings, or even someone like the English or the Irish. It would provide an opportunity for a realistic castle, while still maintaining the 'evil beast' focus. I also agree that we need trolls (cornerstone of Norse mythology) and gods. I also really liked SuvieD's idea of watchtowers (being a big tower fan).
  19. Considering that the quarter-disc from the original Falcon was available (at least in the test run), I think we can definitely expect this to be more than just a selection of bricks and slopes. How far that will extend into the past or the present, I don't know. It might be that they don't sell parts from sets that are still in production so that their sales don't drop. Still, whichever way, I think we can expect this to be really cool.
  20. It hasn't resurfaced again tonight (did a full system scan last night), so I'm hoping everything's back to normal. However, when I shut it down last night (before doing the system scan) my computer started beeping like crazy (while shut down). It didn't boot up the first time I tried, though it did the second time. Scared me to death - I just bought this drive, and it'd be a real pain to switch to the other one. Weird stuff. *wacko*
  21. Alright, let's head upstairs then. We've been lingering down here long enough.
  22. A lot of cities along the coast, as well. (at least in the US)
  23. Ah, we're just mulling over the new information Ras gave us, T. Besides, it launches in a few days (at least in the US ;)). We're excited!
  24. I prefer to think of it as 'ambitious'... :-D And it's more like forty-eight at the moment. ;) If the online PAB thing turns out to have Vikings, I'm sure you'll have a hayday. Until then, Yoda's said that he comes back to the US for vacation, and he's the one picking up my stuff (although Ras is helping out, I think). I'm pretty sure he comes to NC, so I can just pick up the stuff from him, and maybe work out something with you from there. You'd save on shipping. ;)
  25. And remember, Ras/Yoda, I called dibs on Vikings/Viking accessories, coins, and jewels... ;)
