  1. Nice work again, TazManiac. Plenty of cool ideas there and you've hit on a style that's nicely in keeping with the pirate theme. :classic:
  2. Brilliant stuff. Beautiful building, nice cars and that great little plane flying around King Kong. Heaps of detail within the 8x8 space. Fantastic work. :classic:
  3. LOL. Shouldn't one of them be leaning on a shovel? ;-) :classic:
  4. Thanks emilyjem, I'll see if I can find a way to use that. Glad I've got until March. Shame that B&N don't have The Whitehouse for sale. Anyone seen it on special anywhere? :classic:
  5. 4 settings with 2 channels each. :classic:
  6. Yeah, great MOC, LM83. We have Sprint Cars in Australia too. Really fast and regularly seen in a wheels up orientation. You've captured the details very well. :classic:
  7. LOL. Just a bit. Nice one mate. I like it, then renders obviously help bring the vision together. :classic:
  8. Top job, Dix. Very nice creation. :classic:
  9. Lovely post, def. You can tell Li'l def is proud of her creation. I gave my little niece some Quattro when she was very young. Don't know how much influence that had but at 5 she loves her Lego and was a keen and regular visitor to Legoland Windsor when they were living in England. :classic:
  10. Nice one, mate. Next thing we'll see a Watto's springing up in your town. :classic:
  11. Wow, I just checked the price guide. *eek* You hardly ever see track in the shops in Australia but online is a better better bet price-wise for us anyway. Hopefully the situation is better in the USA. You'll get an idea what you want as you start building layouts. Flexi-track is invaluable for making more complex track patterns fit together and for doing wide radius curves with straight rails, I prefer curve rails when doing tight curves. Must stop being distracted from the SuperBowl. *doh* Took the day off to watch it (Monday morning here) :classic:
  12. *woohoo* You should be happy with that to get you started. I remember how thrilled I was unboxing my first ever Lego train set just a couple of years ago after a childhood when they were out of reach and a dark age when they weren't on the radar. Straights and points would be my first priority, maybe one more circle of curves if you are not buying another set in the near future. If you are going to bricklink I'd also recommend you pick up a few of the now discontinued switched crossover piece. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7996-1 This piece has some flaws but it is also very useful for setting up interesting layouts. You just have to pay attention to what you a doing with it or it can cause crashes. Early on this was the only track I could ever find in the shops so I ended up with 4 of them which also let me set up slightly longer straight runs when I had relatively few straight rails. I could do with an extra one or two of these switched crossovers. :classic:
  13. Nice work, mate. Great set of buildings. You can get a lot of mileage out of the pieces the Creator sets give you. :classic:
  14. Hi Nicoga, There have already been a few excellent bits of advice posted. One thing you are bound to find is that you don't have enough track early on (can you ever have enough track?). How you solve this depends on how quickly you want to get started. If you've got the money and want to get some longer trains and interesting layouts off the bat then I'd suggest buying two of each of the passenger and cargo train sets. That way you get enough track for a better layout, more carriages and spare PF bits to put to various uses (eg, power the other end of the passenger train, bits for the upcoming Maersk train, less bits to buy to power the EN). Once you do that you'll want a train station, then multiple train stations to make the platforms long enough for your longer trains, then level crossings, then before you know it you'll be buying crazy multiples of sets for MOCing. My railway station restaurant module is almost done. *woohoo* I hope you enjoy getting into Lego trains. :classic:
  15. Thanks mate, kind offer but it's not a problem, I really shouldn't buy anything for at least a month. :classic:
  16. Just rang Myer Canberra City. They said $219 was the price for 10197 and you didn't get an additional 30% off. :classic:
  17. Great powered tender which such a nice appearance. So much clever SNOTage I don't know which way is up. :classic:
  18. No modular fire stations on display at Myer Tuggeranong, there had been about eight of them last week. No evidence of anything on sale except for play tables. I doubt they would have sold all their fire stations in the last week but maybe they did have a flash sale and they were all snapped up. Couldn't find a minifig head at Target, Kmart or Myer. Managed to visit the shopping centre and only do the grocery shopping for once. *laugh* I'm on a go-slow anyway having lashed out excessively in the last month or so. :classic:
  19. Great little aircraft carrier, Legostein. I really like you alternate model series. :classic:
  20. Wow, great idea, beautifully executed. I love R2-Gear2. Fantastic work. :classic:
  21. I was thinking about Jeff's weigh station idea and wondering how you might make it playable, ideally some sort of pointer to show a weight change when you drive a truck on it. Then it struck me, the simple mechanism of an old-style torque wrench offers a possible design. To those who don't know, a torque wrench is basically a spanner that allow you to put precise tension when doing up nuts and bolts. Newer ones have a dial arrangement in the head of the tool but old ones have a long rod attached to the handle end with a pointer and scale at the head end. When you apply force to the tool the main shaft bends a little but the rod stays straight resulting in movement of the pointer relative to the scale. I have in mind this piece for the flexing main shaft of the "torque wrench": ...and a standard axle with 1x1 brick and a long antenna as the pointer. With that basic mechanical idea in mind you've "just" got to build a moveable, drive-on platform for the truck, link it's motion to the mechanism and conceal things so it looks like a town building. Simpler perhaps, now I've finished typing up that idea *laugh* would be to link the vertical motion of the weighing platform to a 1x4 gear-rack tile and use that to drive a gear that rotates a pointer and use the round "one to eleven" piece from Zurg's gun as a scale. I might give these ideas a go later and see if I can make them work. :classic:
  22. I got my B&N order last month in just under 5 days with the fastest shipping option. I had quite a few items and it was only about $20 more IIRC. Sounds like you've put a great deal together with those coupons ang911. :classic:
  23. Great farming machinery, LM83. :classic:
  24. Wow, that's awesome. :classic:
  25. Enjoyed your review, Brickster. Just finished putting my set together. Fun little build. The little boat is cool and I don't mind the tree. I love the new dark red roof tiles and it's nice to have a ample source of additional beige window frames and an extra door frame. The standard plate bases are good because they are more versatile pieces than baseplates. Hopefully we'll see some more complex roof tile parts in this nice dark red colour down the line. I gave this an above average and think it's a great addition to the Creator theme. :classic:
