  1. This is an AWESOME writeup! Great work putting it together, LEGO lore has always been something that interested me.
  2. I know a whip would be sorta plain, but honestly... I think it would work. I'd buy it, haha.
  3. This looks great! I'm very excited to see how much you get done! Classic LEGO games mean a lot to me so it's awesome to see builds from them.
  4. Agreed- I wish we got more villain builds too. The sets were a lot more fun to me when the Ninja were going up against what felt like a serious threat- all the snake vehicles throughout 2012 really made the vehicles we did get pop. But that's maybe the nostalgia in me talking, haha.
  5. Windmill Adventure sounds interesting, that could be a really awesome terrain piece! Wondering what that pirate ship is though, $15 is quite small.
  6. Hey all- I'm building an Alien Conquest-themed terrain piece for my BrikWars games, and I'm trying to figure out a way to build "ADU" into the wall, about three bricks high. I was having a hard time finding things on Google, so I figured I'd ask the fine folks of Eurobricks- how do you all make brick-built text and letters? I messed around with shield pieces and slopes for a while but couldn't figure anything out myself.
  7. Falconfan posted a 5$ Ninjago set- temple training grounds? Kinda thinking of those awesome Wu-Cru polybags from 2016, hopefully they're like that :D
  8. Love this wave- unironically reignited my love for silly LEGO Star Wars. Couple must-buys in here!
  9. ...Dark Falcon? Jedi Bob's starfighter? Shoot, maybe I'll be buying Star Wars sets again. I need Bob's starfighter.
  10. This is a BEAUTIFUL build! I love the use of the Nexo Knights shield pieces!
  11. I don't usually check them, so that explains why I hadn't seen them haha
  12. I never expected to see an Arkham Reddit joke on Eurobricks lol
  13. I picked up the little mech just to try out the city space line... it's kinda nuts how City Space has gone from realistic exploration in the early 2010's (I had a couple sets back then, they were quite fun) to pure sci-fi. I don't know how I feel about that, but I do enjoy having some in-house space sets again, as a mega fan of Alien Conquest and Galaxy Squad. Loved the little mech and that beautiful pearlescent purple color, so if I have some extra change I may go for that space station set, it looks awesome.
  14. INTRO Hi folks, novaeb here! As this is my first review here on Eurobricks, to give a brief explanation of why you're seeing a review of a 13 year old set- I was the perfect age demographic for LEGO's space and action-adventure themes in 2011-2012, and I've made an attempt to pick up some classic sets from my childhood now that I'm an adult with (somewhat) disposable income. And when I was younger, I read a lot of text reviews on Eurobricks- video reviews aren't my thing. So, I've decided to start reviewing myself! And to begin with... Today we'll be taking a look at one of the smaller sets from the ill-fated Alien Conquest line of 2011, 7050 Alien Defender! 1 by Nova EB, on Flickr MINIFIGURES 2 by Nova EB, on Flickr 7 by Nova EB, on Flickr This set comes with two minifigures, an ADU (Alien Defense Force) soldier and an alien soldier. The ADU soldier- who I'll be calling Shades- is exclusive to this set. He's completely decked out in that beautiful medium azure bodysuit (my favorite LEGO color), and is rocking some dark blue body gear with little pouches on it everywhere. I love these figures- I think they are totally cheesy, ala 50's B-movies. But they also remind me of Halo in a way, like if they dipped a Marine in cotton candy. He features a silly double-sided face, which can be repurposed for generic uses, it doesn't scream "sci-fi" that much. It's a useful head though! I do wish he came with his own blaster- while his vehicle features a couple, it would be nice for him to have one. The alien soldier, however, is the opposite. He features an amazing custom mold for a head with brains peaking out, big bulbous eyes and little protruding teeth, which is one of many beautiful alien heads that Alien Conquest introduced. This figure is reused throughout the line, and features a black and magenta bodysuit littered with tech pieces. I think this works wonders for a generic alien for any MOC. He also comes with a small ray gun with a stud attached, which works as a small alien sidearm. BUILDS 3 by Nova EB, on Flickr The first build you'll be assembling is this tiny hovercraft for the alien soldier. It's only about 13 pieces, and works about as well as it can- it's a simple build, with two little blasters and a joystick for the alien. While it's real basic, I'm glad it's included to give the Defender something to fight against. 4 by Nova EB, on Flickr The main build of the set is the actual Alien Defender, which is described by the set's description as a scout vehicle. I can definitely see that- it reminds me heavily of a cross between Halo's Mongoose and Warthog, with that giant cannon on the back. It was a very basic build, but it came together quite quick and was enjoyable enough. It makes heavy use of those angled plate-bricks, which I think work well for the front canopy as well as the main blaster on the back. My favorite detail in the set is up here- revolvers to suggest suspension! However, my second complaint with the set is here too- I wish the cockpit's sides were a little more bulky- replace the 1x1 light-bluish grey stud with a 1x4 plate in the same color, and put the stickered plates on those. It's a simple mod you can do at home with common parts, but out of the box it makes the pilot look very exposed. 6 by Nova EB, on Flickr The main play features are all located in the rear- two flick-fire missiles and a rotating and angled cannon, making use of two of the blasters Alien Conquest features clipped on. There's also a small license plate here reading P-A7-7ON- I guess referencing American general George Patton? I really don't know, that's my best guess. 5 by Nova EB, on Flickr The set features a lot of stickers in the front to give detail- unfortunately the copy I purchased from Bricklink has them a little misaligned, but whatever. They're cute stickers, adding an ADU logo and some controls and a targetting computer for the driver. I don't mind them being stickers- it's a small impulse-type set- I just wish I could have aligned them better myself! FINAL THOUGHTS I think this is a great impulse-set for a line that deserved its planned second wave. The set comes with everything one would need to stage out a small alien fight: two great minifigures, a little alien speeder, and an awesome scouting vehicle. It isn't perfect- a blaster for the pilot and some bulk in the vehicle's side would have made it perfect- but for what it is, it's close enough. I got this for 7$ USD out of box, and it retailed for 10$ in-box in 2011. I think that was a perfectly fair deal, and I'm happy to give this set a 9/10. I'd really recommend picking it up if you enjoy the Alien Conquest line, or you just need some weapon platforms for your next BrikWars game!
  15. Well, thank lord I have a Netflix subscription and a Lego Universe replay to hold me over, haha. Can't wait to pick up the set though, hoping to put up a review when I get it!
  16. Loving this new wave! Jay's little mech is such a solid battle pack and a good way to get that figure- 10$ battle packs are something I sorely missed. I also love Egalt- Master Wu Dragon, literally! Plan to hang that one from my celling with a little fishing wire. The other mechs are tempting, and I love the different body types- Lloyd's Samurai-esc one, and the bulkiness of Cole's and the standard "hero" look of Kai's are all really appealing to me. But first things first- Egalt and Jay will be mine! Edit: has Egalt shown up in the show yet? I'm slowly catching up via a Ninjago franchise binge, and I'd love to see what this guy's about (and if he's actually related to Wu).
  17. Feel this- miss the small location sets like the Ambush set or Training set from 2011, or the Venomari Shrine from 2012. I like mechs but I miss Ninjago having more affordable location builds, they're my favorite.
  18. Yeah, I remember a lot of your old Nexus Force mods! Quite good builds! LEGO Universe is still quite important to me- I ended up finding a promo GameStop poster for LU which I have displayed proudly on my wall in the center of my room at a local comics shop. The LEGO Club magazines and original website and games were so much fun and really scratched that LEGO itch. But on topic... Other than my blatant nostalgia (as I was absolutely the target market at the time)- I feel it was a great integration of all forms of media. A lot of Big Bang themes nowadays seem to rely a lot on current technology (Nexo Knights and Hidden Side, although Dreamzzz has been different I feel), but I think early Ninjago had a great blend of technology and video usage (the show, and I remember watching a lot of Spinner tutorial videos), and obviously, the physical spinners and cards. It's one of my favorite marketing pushes ever- something which may have influenced me going into graphic design and advertising itself. As much as I enjoy the physical bricks, having something that relates to the theme that isn't just LEGO I feel gave me a deeper connection to the line.
  19. Hi all! As silly as it is, I've always had a fascination with Ninjago's big draw in those first two years- the spinners. I thought they were incredibly fun, and as a very poor kid in rural Virginia, I remember lusting after one for a long time, with only a singular card given to me by a friend. I did finally get a couple in year two, starting with NRG Cole and eventually getting a couple of that year's, but unfortunately they were discontinued in 2013, and never brought back. The replacements LEGO has put out time and time again with the theme (Airjitzu Flyers, Dragon Riders, etc.) have never satisfied that itch of an actually developed and pretty fun game to play with a friend. When I learned what Bricklink was, I ended up starting a collection and playing with my friends who were also Ninjago fans. I think the concept is super fun, and while it could use some development and complexity (not to the extent of say, Magic, but at least a little more thought into a couple things), I love it! And as I start a quest to create a 100% complete card collection, I figured I'd ask- what are yall's thoughts on the line? Yay? Nay? What would you do different? I'd love to hear!
  20. I agree, upon putting together my new sets I noticed that. I'm going to modify them all anyways to have connections, but I quite miss it. Gave the theme a nice feel.
  21. Hi all! Very interested in working on reviews for Eurobricks, as I grew up reading them! I see that there aren't new members and the videos were to be released to the public, but there seems to be no way to access them as of now... is there any way I could get access to the RA videos? Thanks!
  22. There was concept art for Western Ninjago?! Where?! Surprise aside, you've done an amazing job recreating it! Is there an interior?
  23. Got a bunch of this year's (and a couple of last year's) sets for Christmas- loving the Axolotal house! Got two other smaller underwater sets too, hoping to make a whole diorama. Can't wait to build the Deep Dark Battle- as much as I hate the Warden in-game (and I mean HATE), I love the Ancient Cities and I think the set interpretation is quite cute!
  24. Thank you for the instructions for the Llama! I built one (albeit with some mods because I was missing some parts), and he's super cute! Is there any way to get those Minifigure torsos without visiting a store? I don't have any with minifigure factories near me, but if we don't get any sets, I want an official part for a minifigure lol.
  25. That would be hilarious and I would love it lol
