SW Clone Wars tv series first pic revealed.....
Mr Hobbles replied to Vader's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Dammit, I would have rather had the live action tv show than the two movies. He could have at least made them "proper" length rather than one hour then! -
SW Clone Wars tv series first pic revealed.....
Mr Hobbles replied to Vader's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm confused. I heard there was going to be a 100-episode LIVE action tv show, set between episodes 3 and 4. Is this 100-episode animated series in replacement to this? Because I dislike all animated stuff. Or are the two new movies replacing the live action show? So, is it movies and animated, or movies, animated and live action? Please let it be that there's still a live action tv show. -
I've had three dealings with LEGO Service recently and am constantly amazed by them. They are always so nice, and very eager to help. I haven't had a bad experience yet. Anyone else had any experience with them? Share your stories here! Heres mine: When I bought the new firestation it had a missing piece. I went onto the website, selected the piece and filled in my details. Sure enough, a week later a packet dropped through my letterbox along with some extas: 4 flower stalks, 3 sprues of 4 flowers to go onto it, and an extra 16x16 roadplate! Secondly I bought 4512 Cargo Train from BrickLink, from a seller in Germany. Being in the UK, we have a different type of plug socket. So I sent an email off to them trying my luck to see if they'd send me a British power adapter out. Sure enough they did, and they didn't even have to, or charge me! Finally, last week I got 10001 Metroliner from eBay, and it had a problem where four of the windows were the wrong colour and one of the females had the wrong colour hairpiece. This was apparently a common problem with the set, so they had made service packs that you could phone up to get. So I phoned them up, and the very nice lady (Maria, very helpful!) explained that although she could see the entry on the system for the problem and service pack, they no longer made the service pack because it was a very old set. However she got me to read out the instruction pages that the parts were on so she could find the pieces individually. It wasn't over though, as when she tried to find the train windows she found out that they aren't made anymore. She also said that she would phone down to the warehouse to see if they had any lying around, but the manager was off ill and wasn't due back in until Monday, which was four days away. She would have to do it then. I usually don't have much faith in promises made by customer service people on the phone, but again, this morning, there was a little packet dropped onto the doorstep with the four windows and the hairpiece. I LOVE LEGO Service!

Thank you for posting this yoda! I've been waiting for this review for a looong time, now I just want it more badly! Today I'm phoning up my local TRU to see if they've got it, and if they don't I'm ordering it right there on S@H along with the new garbage truck.

Gah you're killing me here! :'-( -
Excellent choice of sets! The ambulance is personally one of my favourites! And it goes really well with Cafe Corner. :-)
-
Happy Days! I so want to be able to order the Service Station and the Garbage Truck right now but I'm all outta cash. :-( Gotta wait for a couple of weeks! *n*

This is a very nice station building! I didn't know they made windows that size though... This seems like a return to bricks rather than the last station they put out with all the curved windows and walls and such. I love the little details in this set such as the new parcel sticker, the drinks dispensers at the shop, the refrigerators, etc. As someone else said not entirely sure about the turnstile though, seems a bit pointless. I will have to buy this though. What is LEGO trying to do, bankrupt me?! What with Market Street, the gas station, the port, the garbage and cement trucks, and now this... Now then, can we have that review of the gas station? This is the one I've been waiting on! :-D

10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
Mr Hobbles replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As much as I can't wait for this set, there is one little detail that troubles me. That is the rounded balconies on the front that seem to be made out of some hinge arm thingies, and those flexi pieces. Wouldn't that have been better off using a couple of these pieces? http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/30056 I think the little detail in the arch on the left is the Owl personally... -
10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!

Yes! An actual proper sized image! I really hope the price is -
Don't forget converting 7898 to 9V is as simple as switching out the motor bogey. Granted if you want to get rid of the lumps on the side you gotta add some bricks, but that can be done at a later date. :-)
-
It's possible that instead of mounting the grille on a 1x2 brick they've mounted it on a 1x1 brick and one of those 1x1 brick pieces with two sides and no stud ontop (Dont know what they're called)
-
But futureproof. So buy as many as you can? ;-)

Yeah, but I have the same problem on my copy of 4512 Cargo Train. Although the wire with the Metroliner is longer (Some would even say too long!) and so it's not so bad. I haven't had any derailments or anything from it. Where did you get the club car from, and how much did you pay for it? I've been looking for it everywhere and I'm not willing to pay over $100-150. xwingyoda - Damn you! I really want that gas station. Monday?! :'-(

I personally don't see why not. RC trains will run on both 9v and RC track, so where's the disadvantage in buying it? If LEGO stop the 9v line then you can just start buying RC track instead. If they stop the RC line, then you can just keep buying 9v track. On the other hand if you buy RC track now, and they stop making RC trains in the future, then you're a bit out of luck.

I must admit I was disappointed with the truck purely because of the red flatbed at the back. Why couldn't they have made it black or grey? It looks like a toy in red imo. However I must disagree about the rest of the set. I really don't mind that the boat hull is one piece, it's good for the kids as it floats, and it has a decent enough shape for me as an adult. There are quite a lot of studs ontop to build onto and nice little compartments for engines and such. The pier and the crane I like too. The pier looks really impressive, and I love the detail in these three pictures. In this set the lack of brickwork doesn't really bother me, after all, you wouldn't find much brickwork in a real crane either. :-)

Yes, those pictures actually belong to xwingyoda, and are on this very forum as part of his reviews. :-) You can find the threads at: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=9359 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=9365

What would you pay extra for the box
Mr Hobbles replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not sure. I do like the whole experiene of popping open a box, pouring out the bags of bricks and the instructions, and looking at the pictures on the back while I build. I guess it really depends on how much I love the set. However, if I really wanted it with a box I wouldn't pay more than 50% ontop (ie. $75 boxed instead of $50 unboxed). Instructions on the other hand is a must. And I wont pay extra. What good is a set if you don't know how to build it? Also I'd rather have a paper copy than have to rely on Peeron. -
Yay! My Metroliner arrived! When built, it looks awesome next to my favourite set, Cafe Corner. :-) I think Metroliner is now my second favourite set ever. I can tell, I wish we had a store like that in the UK. Oh how I'd like to live near that shop in Paris. *sweet*

Very very nice. I really want this set, even though at the moment it would have no place in my town. I love the boat, the crane is really cool, and the pier is just awesome. Add the 10 tonne loader onto this set and it's perfect. Cheers for the review. :-)
-
I really want this and the port. Thanks for the review! I think the price may be a little high, but then again it is a very unusual vehicle with an unusual colour. I also like the two containers that it comes with, I was expecting just one.

Very nice read. As someone who is just out of their dark ages I don't know what LEGO was like a few years ago, but I'm loving them right now. Although looking at old 99-01 catalogs shows vehicles made out of 5 pieces... I'm glad to see them back on track. Viva la LEGO! :-D

I think it might even be one. If you look at the new'ish Passenger Plane it has a back fuselage piece which looks like it should be two pieces, except it's one because they're screwed together. The way you can tell is with the sink holes for the screwes which the congrete mixer looks it has on the top.
