4 or 6 stud wide cars, which do you prefer ???
Mr Hobbles replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Town
I voted for 6 wide "cars" as I assume this poll is referring to the new style trucks and stuff. More specifically though I prefer 6 wide for trucks and stuff as LEGO has been doing. I'd rather they kept cars as 4 wide, such as the one that comes with the new Service Station. EDIT: I should note I also like the 8 wide haulers and stuff. So my vote technically goes for 4 wide cars, 6 wide trucks, and 8 wide haulers and stuff. -
The reason why women shouldn't get driver's licenses!

Those pics are awesome, almost had me in tears! How the heck did she get the car into that position without the boat getting pushed away and the car falling into the water?! Some skillful driving there! :-P ;-) -
RE: Comments for 1 Yahoo Auction I won.
Mr Hobbles replied to vhtf.hw.lego's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
You missed my point about it not being an original Ninja. Even if it is not made up of the parts that make a Ninja theme Ninja, the end result still resembles a Ninja. I look at the models in the picture and see Ninja's, not racer drivers. The mint I believe refers to the condition of the bricks that make up the end result. I see no teeth marks, no discoloration, and therefore I see mint. The original poster was wondering if he had been cheated out of three minifigs, not whether he had been given "original" Ninja's or not. So he obviously sees Ninja's too, not racer drivers. And as for the point of whether he has been cheated out of three minifigs, I don't think he has for the points I've made above. :-) -

oo7: The minifig is made out of original LEGO pieces, and the pieces that are used makes up something that constitutes a green coloured Ninja. It may not be the same Ninja that comes from the Ninja theme, but it's still a Ninja, made out of mint condition original LEGO parts. tedbeard: As far as I can tell, the auction was for one. The title says "Ninja" not "Ninjas" plural. I admit I don't see how the auction was going to work. Was he meaning bids of $9-17 get one, $18-27 get two, etc? He should have set up multiple auctions with buy it now's of $9. However as it turned out, the auction went for $9, which according to the listing means one Ninja. Also the title of the auction suggests "Ninja", as in one. So I still gotta go with my original theory. -
I've always liked the idea of a model railway in the garden, but I'm wondering how well the LEGO 9v track will stand up to the elements. Will it corrode in the rain? It'll obviously get quite dirty being outside, but this is nothing a track rubber can't fix.

I saw this a while ago when it was posted on Digg. It's quite an impressive feature. The reason it's not available in other places yet is that they do it by driving a VW Beetle with a camera ontop around all the streets. It's gonna take them months to do the majority of the US, nevermind the rest of the world. Here's a little picture of the car: http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/31/check-o...t-scanning-car/

I gotta agree with him I'm afraid. It's well known on auction sites that you should read the description carefully, and you don't go by what you see in the picture. He quite clearly states that $9 buys you one. So you should get one. -
10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
Mr Hobbles replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was just on the phone with LEGO signing up for the Club Magazine and I asked when Market Street was going to be released. The guy on the other end of the phone looked it up on the system and said that there wasn't a specific date set, but there was a note saying it's due in the next 2-3 weeks, before the end of the month. Woohoo! :-) -
Ok, since Heroes has finished I've found a new favourite, Dexter. Dexter is a serial killer. He's had urges to kill things since he's been very young, and so his Dad taught him how to "channel" that into the people that deserve it. However his daytime job is at the Miami Police department as a forensic analyst, specialising in blood splatters. Talk about conflict of interest. It's brilliantly written, with lots of black humour. A very good show. :-) It only airs in the US right now on Showtime. However it is available through "other" means. :-P

If you want it to look like the lamppost from Cafe Corner/Market Street, you would use the lamppost, with the piece "Mini Head - Tr." ontop (Yes, the transparent minifig head). Ontop of this you put the white "Parabola

I had thought about a classic style viaduct however I decided against it for a couple of reasons. Firstly, my "city corner" is going to be inner city, so I think a viaduct would be out of place. I'm looking for something more modern and less elaborate like in the pictures I posted. Cheers though. :-) I so wish LEGO had released those panels in either dark green or new dark grey... :-(

Very nice! Haven't seen these particular pics before but there's a thread with lots more pictures over in General LEGO. I can't wait for this!

Hey guys, I'm developing my town at the moment, here's how it stands: Town I'm looking to create a railway overpass for the back, and need some ideas. For reference here's my town plan and a couple of ideas: Plan Idea #1 Idea #2 I like the second type of bridge better, and was looking to create it using Dark Green copies of these bricks, but unfortunately they've never made it in that colour. It's a shame, I had my heart set on them. :'-( I also looked at Brown, but as the bridge is gonna be right next to Cafe Corner there might be a bit too much brown in one place. Also, I was thinking of Dark Grey also, but LEGO has only made old Dark Grey versions. Anyone else got any other ideas? :-) Cheers *y*

10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
Mr Hobbles replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It looks like the online Pick-a-Brick has been updated with the parts from 10190. At first glance there are many more blue pieces (Both dark and light), croissants, the green Exo-Force head (The cabbage), flower stalks and flowers, etc. EDIT: My copy of LLD also updated itself with the new pallette of bricks. There's also a filter to show only bricks from the Market Street box. -

Many thanks for those pics too! Those other pics are just confirming my suspicions that this is gonna be an awesome set. :-) Looking at the back of the box I've just realised that since it's a Factory set the instructions are gonna be downloadable! This should be good for those having doubts about whether or not to buy this set. -
"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, quote them, disagree with them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing that you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." Apple Think Different Campaign, ~1997.

10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
Mr Hobbles replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yup, this is the part I thought of. It only adds a couple of more studs to the width too (8 instead of 6). X-O That's not good, that really is tragic. I hope he lives long enough to bring out many more LEGO sets. -
Not originally, but I'm living here while I'm at uni at Abertay. :-)

Mr Hobbles replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Excellent! Thanks very much for the pics! The more I look at the pictures the more I want this set. Admittedly, it's not impressive as Cafe Corner, but then again it shouldn't be for only 1250-odd pieces. I was definently surprised to see that it's slightly taller than Cafe Corner (If you don't count the little tower ontop). I like the stepped gable ontop, I think it's a really nice design, and in general I love the blue/grey/tan colour scheme. It fits in really well with Cafe Corner and by the looks of things will look great on either side of it. Also, it looks like TLC listened and put it on a grey baseplate rather than a green one. There are a couple of things I don't like. The balconies, there are better pieces that could be used to make these. Also, for some reason the sidewalk/pavement pattern seems to become inconsistent half way along. Although this should be easy to fix. In general though I think this should be an excellent set provided it is no more than -

I'd be happy to join, being from Scotland and all. We need to get bigger! The only photos I've seen of Scotfest consist of 10 or so people gathering at someones house and talking for hours on end, with tea and biscuits.
