  2. Am I right in thinking you can buy these in cases? I used to be into the CCG/CMG scene, and with those you can buy them in bulk, one case at a time. The case usually unfolds to make the display box the retailer puts on the shelf. I think I saw something about a case of 60...but surely that's a bit much for something where there's only 16 unique figures to collect?! Not to mention at £1.99 each that's almost £120 (Although it'll end up being about £100)! These figures look really really nice and I'd love to collect them, but if you were to buy the individual packs that's quite a high likelyhood of duplicates.
  3. Wow, this is simply astounding, could almost be mistaken for an official set.
  4. Sorry, I'm not too insterested in regular models. Lego is my addiction. And this is an excellent Lego model.
  5. I don't see an issue with asking it, if he can answer it he can, if he can't he can't. I'm interested to know!
  6. I subscribe to the Office Snapshots RSS feed exactly because I love seeing stuff like this. Even just a picture of your desk/office would be great Jamie. (With appropriate stuff blurred out if necessary!)
  7. I see, that's very interesting. I suppose it does explain why there are less alternate models in sets than there used to be. Also glad to see Lego doesn't hate Market Street. ;) So, pardon me for reading between the lines, but part of the reason for this building being chosen for release at this point in time is that it's a corner building? What with Cafe Corner no longer in production, did Lego need a different corner building for photographic purposes, to help achieve those 60/30 isometric product shots without having to resort to showing a blank side wall? Or am I reading too deeply into it.
  8. It's not a pic of Cafe Corner, it's a pic of a Lego citizen committing suicide off the top of Cafe Corner! I hear work conditions are really poor in that cafe.
  9. I've been saying this for aaaagggeeeesss, it's a shame though, as it appears to have been forgotten by LEGO themselves. The pics of all of them together in 10197 Fire Brigade are missing Market Street. Nevermind though, you and me know the truth. Edit: Oh, and Market Street is still my favourite of them all!
  10. I think that price is part of the reason there, I think also that it's easier for kids to spot changes in the instruction manual. It's easy to miss a 2x2 black plate sitting ontop of an 8x8 black plate, not so easy if the 2x2 is blue.
  11. If that's true then why didn't they just include it as an extra part like every other set? I think it must have had a purpose at some point, maybe it got removed at the last minute...
  12. 1. Lego pieces rotate in and out of production as they cant physically have a moulding machine for every piece ever made. Every year the designers are given a "piece budget". They have to choose from those to design their kits. Therefore for any given set an ideal piece may not be available, so they have to use alternatives. 2. Yes, they do purposely add more pieces than are strictly needed, for the purposes of creativity (So that there are more building options out of the box).
  13. Then why do they upload it to the website so far in advance? If they don't want it out there they shouldn't upload it!
  14. Indeed, if it's on Lego's cache then post the links! It's in the public domain now.
  15. And it helps keep my wallet sane. ;)
  16. Oohh my mistake, I thought they were released Aug/Sept time. In that case, my bad, rock on. One per year is gooood.
  17. 10197 Fire Brigade. Too much unlike the others for my taste, and too simple, with too many weird building techniques. However, conversely to a lot of other people, Market Street is my favourite of the whole lot!
  18. Just curious, but doesn't seem to have come up. What is TLGs reasoning behind releasing this in March rather than September? For the last three years Lego has released the modular buildings in September (Cafe Corner - Sept 07, Green Grocer - Sept 08, Fire Brigade - Sept 09), except for Market Street, but that's not "officially" part of the same line. Is Lego now considering releasing modular buildings twice a year? Having a March and September release cycle would mean exactly one every six months, which is a tad convienient! If they do this, I don't know how my wallet will cope...
  19. I was into it as a kid, but then I had completely forgotten about it until 10182 Cafe Corner. This was everything I ever wanted as a child. When I small I went to Legoland, saw the awesomely detailed buildings and wished I had the parts to build some of my own. When I saw Cafe Corner I was stunned. Since then I've bought every single one of the modular buildings, and I have a nice selection of City vehicles to go with them. I'm about to order my first modular house from Lego Digital Designer too, and hopefully not the last!
  20. Even more amazing than I originally thought.
  21. Oh golly gosh. This looks FANTASTIC. A welcome surprise after the disappointing Fire House. Thanks for the picture!
  22. It'll be like some of those collectible card games. Series 1 comes first, then 4-5 months later there's a series 2 with 16 new figures to collect, then 4-5 months later 16 more, etc etc. Basically it's a cash cow. There may only be 16 to collect but as you dont know what you're gonna get in each one you might need to buy 50'odd before you get the 16.
  23. Even though I've typically hated this theme (I don't consider it "LEGO"), I recognise that it's been a huge fan favourite and a nice money earner for LEGO. So, it's only fair that it go out with a bang, with one last final set to represent the definitive character in the storyline (So I understand!). For the sake of the fans. So, I support this. I voted £55, 40% Technic/60% Bionicle, and 60cm tall. I'd have voted taller if I could.
  24. Borderlands, Left 4 Dead 2 Demo, GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony, and a tiny bit of World of Warcraft. Got Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on order. :D
  25. I believe it's probably standing in for a suit with a plane-shaped lapel pin. Seems like the most credible explanation to me.
