  1. None of us know what Toys R Us are basing their listing on. They could easily be basing it on the rumour.
  2. Not if they were sets based on any of the 20th Century Fox Fantastic Four movies.
  3. It would likely be treated as a separate theme that happens to have a link to Doctor Who, though. It's *technically* not a part of the Whoniverse in the same way Fantastic Four aren't a part of the MCU. Good point. But it would be nice if they did branch out a little.
  4. Actually, that's debatable considering it's not being made in conjunction with the BBC therefore not an official BBC production.
  5. If Doctor Who gets any sets beyond the Ideas one and K9: Timequake is a success, I wonder if we'll ever get any sets based on the movie? Personally, if the film is of good quality I'd love to be able to have a set comprising K9 and Omega.
  6. I think it all hinges on whether it's a direct continuation of the TV series. I can't see many going to see it if it is due to the show's bad reputation. Otherwise, I'll be shocked if it doesn't do well enough to warrant a sequel.
  7. I see operation card-gate is in full force...
  8. They would have to do a really bad job for a Ratchet & Clank movie not to work. It's pretty much ready made for a cinematic film.
  9. doctorwhotv.co.uk/k9-to-battle-omega-in-movie-timequake-77281.htm?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DoctorWhoTv+%28Doctor+Who+TV%29 It may be an odd idea but let's not forget that Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't exactly a normal premise for a film and look how that turned out. With the right script and director, this film could turn out to be something special.
  10. Unless the Ecto-1 goes from an Ideas set to a main one, you may have just unfairly deprived someone who doesn't yet have a LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1. I don't believe you should buy duplicates of limited edition sets.
  11. I wouldn't. They don't evoke that Simpsons style.
  12. Thread (not forum). Which is called 'Doctor Who General Discussion' and doesn't have its own separate rules to the overall forum. Sorry, just saying. Basically, this forum is extremely confusing with its odd concepts and ideas but I realise that's off-topic so let's discuss how the Skarasen could be turned into a Doctor Who set or something.
  13. Thank God we didn't get the Brick Like Me version. It looks awful and unrealistic to the Simpsons characters.
  14. Hope not. They don't look like they have the charm of most LEGO minifigures. LEGO could do so much better.
  15. That picture reminded me of the scene in Dalek where the Dalek decides to exterminate itself.
  16. Personally as someone of the male gender, I really wouldn't want to collect Disney couples. The protagonists and antagonists are way more interesting than the relationships in my opinion.
  17. I think heroes and villains would be a much more interesting approach to the minifigure series than heroes and love interests. Captain Hook would be brilliant as a minifigure.
  18. Agreed. I expect we'll probably have 14 Walt Disney characters and two Pixar ones (Buzz and Woody probably).
  19. Your version looks so much better. Why didn't LEGO do it like this? I am being 'real' and Doctor Who is hugely popular with kids. Disagree. Doctor Who is a brand. As I said, all they'd have to do is stick the Doctor Who name on it and record Peter Capaldi saying something like 'I'm the Doctor and it's absolutely vital you buy this set for the future of the universe' and kids would instantly buy it. It doesn't matter if they don't recognise the characters, settings or seen any of the classic series. I think most kids know who both the Doctor and the Daleks are, otherwise they would have to have been living in a parallel universe where no kids ever cared about Doctor Who. Doctor Who IS a family show but a large bulk of its audience are still kids. Hardly. There's infinite more potential for imagination than Marvel or DC Superheroes and it's something more unique and quirkier than your standard Marvel or DC superhero. Well, you could do the Skarasen from Terror of the Zygons, the Dalek City from The Daleks, a Dalek spaceship, a Sontaran spaceship, the 3rd Doctor's car Bessie and the Nerva Beacon from The Ark in Space/Revenge of the Cybermen. Also: a set based on Day of the Doctor comprising of the Moment, the 10th Doctor, the 11th Doctor, the War Doctor, Clara and Bad Wolf. It doesn't 'upset me' but I think it's crazy to say that Doctor Who wouldn't work as a range because kids wouldn't buy it so I started a debate (which is what forums are for, after all). I am prepared to agree to disagree but to me the point of a forum isn't a 'friendly conversation' (there's Facebook for that) but to have lively debates and discussions if you disagree with someone's post or otherwise, to tell someone you agree with their point.
  20. Wish they'd included a scaled-down Firehouse in the Ecto-1 Ideas set (the project did contain one).
  21. Sounds like they could drastically cut the price if they reduced the number of minifigures to five.
  22. I can only assume you and Coca Cola are being sarcastic because there's over 50 years of potential LEGO can mine for Doctor Who sets and all they'd need to do is stick the Doctor Who brand on for it to sell more than DC and Marvel superheroes combined. The show has a massive fanbase, is in no danger (the viewing figures are because of a change of viewing habits) and will easily be popular with kids. If you're right, I'll be very shocked.
  23. I love how it's based on Bart's soapbox racer pre-Honour Roller.
  24. Last time I checked, Doctor Who was a family show adored by kids. Whilst kids do watch Simpsons, I would say Doctor Who is a lot more popular with kids than Simpsons is. Simpsons is a primetime family sitcom mainly enjoyed by adults but still appropriate for children. Doctor Who is a primetime family drama enjoyed both by adults and kids and has a massive fanbase of children outside of the internet. What kid doesn't want to run around the school playground playing Doctor VS Daleks? The red Zygon, the golden brown Sontaran, the green Silurian, the currently-dressed-in-purple Master (or 'Missy').... I could go on. I wouldn't call Mickey, Rose, Clara, Ian, Barbara, Susan, Sarah Jane etc.... boring. Yes, they do know who he is. And yes, they do care. Captain Jack Harkness was last seen in The End of Time. And who was a part of that two parter's audience? Kids. There is nothing 'boring' about Captain Jack Harkness. He is a time travelling conman from the 51st century who used to be a Time Agent until two years of his life were erased by the Time Agents of the Time Agency. He worked for a secret organisation situated in Cardiff called 'UNIT'. He is immortal. None of that is 'boring' and wouldn't be 'boring' to any kid with any ounce of imagination. Says who? The Doctor is a hugely popular pop-culture character and kids frequently buy the merchandise associated with the Doctor Who brand. You only need the Doctor Who name for any merchandise to sell. I think kids absolutely would buy LEGO Doctor Who sets over Batman or Simpsons because it's more imaginative and the concept of a 2000 year old Time/Space Traveller from the planet Gallifrey travelling in a police box screams 'school playground game' more than, say, a wealthy businessman turn detective who wears a bat costume or a family man who often goes to the nearest bar to get drunk and is hopeless at his job.
