  1. I've said this twice before but if TLG didn't **** themselves so hard by developing a 4-port smart hub and instead went for 6 ports, it could be done with five motors, each with a two position gearbox. That way gives you two modes of operation - drive and backhoe: Motor 1 - drive wheels or backhoe boom Motor 2 - MLA steering or backhoe knuckle Motor 3 - lift arm or backhoe stick Motor 4: bucket tilt or backhoe swing Motor 5: gearbox and stabilizers But nope, now we're stuck with four ports forever...
  2. 2k pieces is quite small for $250. I wonder what it'll have Do you reckon it might be in the same scale as the Mack Anthem?
  3. Oh dude, that actually looks fantastic! How rigid is the bumper construction? You've nailed the proportions of the whole thing
  4. Or just don't be a douche about people's careers, especially when those careers require an acute level of creative skill to pull off. Like sorry hot wheels but where's the funny in saying that set designers are no better than burger flippers? It was a shit joke, get over it
  5. It's not a very good joke when all it does is make you seem ignorant... If you spent 40 years in the industrial design industry and can't recognize the creative skills common between good industrial designers and good set designers then damn dude
  6. But they don't, they're linked. If you wanna just move the bucket or the arm, you can't
  7. No, 42121 is also a liar of a set. No heavy duty excavator has a linked arm and bucket. I think people flipping out over this need to relax. The parts spin, that's the important bit
  8. I think he specifically means THE Technic figures, not any figures made using Technic elements
  9. Both John Deere and TLC are companies that can sign contracts to whatever terms they like. I bet that every single licensing deal that TLC has with companies has its own unique set of terms. If both TLC and the other party agree, then there's absolutely no reason it couldn't happen.
  10. I think playability was prioritised for this over realism. I wonder whether we're clutching pearls over a name
  11. No, I stand by what I said. I think the way you've expressed your criticism of the set is ridiculous to the point of absurdity, especially the "I would not buy this, even for kids" bit. You'd deny a child the joy of playing with a toy and learning about its other parts, like rear wheel steering, or the moving spout, or the raising attachment, because one of the details spins the wrong way. If you're willing to express your opinion so intensely in a public forum and break down the moment it's challenged, that's on you.
  12. I can't read this with a straight face, what you've said is so hilariously ridiculous. It's a toy. If you're complaining about education, then what's important here is that the parts spin, not which direction they spin in this specific model by this specific manufacturer. You're complaining about trivia, not education.
  13. Looks interesting. Do you have any other angles we could look at it from?
  14. Oof, not sure how I feel about that cowling mould, feels a bit cheaty. Still an interesting set, regardless
  15. You can probably just use the black ones, cover them up with round DBG tiles and plates and it'll more or less look fine
  16. A little bleed line that branches off the main circuit, which houses a small air pocket that can expand and contract. That being said, upon second thought my solution wouldn't really make any difference versus just having air bubbles in the line
  17. Could you not just have a T-junction along the top end of the hydraulic circuit that holds a small air pocket?
  18. Plastic quality and fit of the pins and axles
  19. Damn they should do a run of more exclusive cars, they'll be even cheaper
  20. @thekoRngear I think what you say sums up my opinions of CaDA bricks and sets pretty well, TLC appears to have a better overall appreciation of the limits of the building system, at least in my mind
  21. Plaster probably not, but buy some white clay and reinforce it with steel mesh, then oven bake it. I dunno the details but I assume it'd work pretty well. Also don't use lead, but pewter. It's a not as dense as lead (~7 vs 11 g/cm3) but the melting point is much lower (~200 vs 327 C) and it's far less toxic and more durable. Alternatively (and likely cheaper) make a silicone mould and then cast some resin counterweights with a bunch of lead shot, then paint over the finished pieces.
