Thanks! Nice looking set, and really great to get a peek at the new space sets.
-
You did those 'Stormtroopers day off' things? Those were hilarious.
-
Where did that box on BL come from? Is it a pack-in? It's a shame LEGO doesn't sell it separately, it's much much cheaper than the rechargeable one.

Awesome. I like the snow on the roof and the garland/wreath decorations.

Nice pizza shack. :)

No problem, glad you like it. :)

A re-introduction to the Community,
Cinderbike replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I hope I'm not hijacking the thread or rehashing an old subject, but where were you before as a designer for TLG before this current workshop/new position? Also, any tips/suggestions for someone else who is looking at getting a similar position? EDIT: A PM is fine if you'd rather not discuss this publicly. Thanks! -
Discontinued parts/designer restrictions?
Cinderbike replied to Cinderbike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the (rather comprehensive) reply, Dave. -
It looks nice, but I think that red or another color wheel would look awesome too. BTW, I prefer the name Onyx Night over Black Emerald Night, if only to continue the naming scheme. I'm considering a Ruby Night, myself.

One plate. I suppose I'll find out in person soon enough, parts ordered and on their way.

Discontinued parts/designer restrictions?
Cinderbike replied to Cinderbike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ah. I was sad to see the old doors go. I have a ton of them. I also haven't seen the 'old' 2x2 window (the one with the frame and a weird 'cutaway' bottom on it) in sets for awhile either. I have a ton of those 4-wide hinges from all my old Town and Aquazone sets, but had no idea they weren't in use any more. Thanks for the info! -
Bump! So did you ever manage to motorize the shuttle?

Hey all, recently came out of the dark ages and have tons of questions. One that has been bugging me for awhile is, I've always seen things such as PAB only offering parts still in production, or how designers are limited to parts in production. My questions are: - Why/how are parts discontinued? I read an article that the LEGO Group has actively tried to downsize the parts roster (and got rid of half IIRC) and use less big, unique pieces in sets, but that can't be the only source of discontinued parts. - Do designers REALLY have to stay within bounds of what is on the lines, or can a designer, if they have a reason for it, have TLG pull a part back into production/make one in a different color? - Does Bricklink/etc. have a list of discontinued parts? Thanks!

I'd have to say the Imperial Shuttle. What a beaut.

I'm also new to these forums. Lifelong railhead, recently back into LEGO. Nothing to show off, yet, but the Emerald Night is train set #1! I should swing by there sometime, next time I'm in Reno.

I'm building a set right now in LDD, but the bumper on the trucks I've build are one stud lower than what appears to be the standard (what the production sets seem to do). So, my cars wouldn't be able to hitch to the Emerald Night (or other trains) without modifications, but I am okay with that... Is there anything wrong with this, or should I redesign the model?

Help with identifying parts/sets!
Cinderbike replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow, thank you for the quick turnaround Legostein! Either you have access to an awesome catalogue of minifig images (if that's the case, do you have a link?), or some sort of Rainman photographic memory! -
So, I'm new here, and after a few days of digging through my parents garage, searching for instruction manuals, and cleaning up and putting things back together, I realized that I have what you might call an addiction to LEGO Space: My favorite part is how I have all 3 generations of Space Police. :) And because I'd rather not make too many topics, I have a ton of Aquazone/water themed ones, too: Did anyone else ever go 'whoa, forgot I had those!'?

Help with identifying parts/sets!
Cinderbike replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hey all, been going through my old LEGO stuff as of late and can't seem to ID these two minifigs (lost the manuals and boxes, it seems). Help would be appreciated! -
I've been playing with LEGOs my entire life. Just recently have had time to get heavily into them again after finishing college, and I find a thriving community of AFOLs online - how awesome is that? I spent the past week digging through my parents garage to try and track down a childhood's worth of LEGOs to add to the ones I have in my apartment - apparently, LEGO no longer makes quite a few of the pieces I have, so good thing I bought them back then. The find of the century™ was a near-mint condition 1990's LEGO space set. How it managed to stay in such good shape is beyond me. As for some random LEGO tidbits: - My favorite sets are Train and Aquazone (I think I have every set!). - I'm 25, and just finished college. - I live in a very, very small apartment. LEGOs are taking over the living room. So nice to find a community of people who enjoy these toys as much as me. :)
