  1. That is also a generalization. Sitting in IRC and refreshing a forum page are two completely different types of activities. Many AFOL can't sit in a chat all day at work but are able to have a browser page up and surf around it every once in a while when the boss is not looking. EB itself has no official chat because it creates no real record of what's being discussed. There are some who have stronger feelings against it than I do because I personally like chats. The easiest way to find out for sure is to search all IRC servers for "lego" and see what you find. There are bound to be some out there somewhere, if it's kids or adults is up in the air.
  2. I love it! I'm pretty excited to get my Scooby Doo sets and hopefully start some fun builds.
  3. As with anything in the USA, you can be sued for using another's intellectual property or work. You can be somewhat protected under Fair Use laws, but the owner can still ask for your video to be removed and YouTube (or wherever) will remove it immediately. They might or might not contact you to let you know after. Though you are probably safe as an animator of Lego elements (which might be parody or fan creations), If possible, it's always best to use "royalty free", music under Creative Commons licence, or music you have paid to licence (or made yourself).
  4. The window pieces that S@H sells and is found in new sets are not exactly the same part that was in Cafe Corner. There was a redesign that made thick edges (for stability) and that's why the original one is so expensive.
  5. Great work. It all really flowed and kept my interest, great sound work as well.
  6. That wasn't as difficult to grab as I had expected. Probably turn out to be the lowest valued exclusive so far.
  7. Where are the reports about eye defects coming from? I haven't seen any reports of this, but I'm curious and worried.
  8. I like that you did this with the actual set and not through a computer generated build. The way you did the minifig dual sided heads is great
  9. The reason Gmail sends the EB emails to the spam folder is because the system is sending email with a gmail address (the eurobricks email address) but not sending it through the Gmail system itself. Google has code in there that automatically categorizes email such as that as "possible phishing" and thus sends it to spam. Sometimes custom filters will work, but it's not a 100% solution.
  10. You'd hae to talk to Bryan about that, but creating and running a full Brickworld convention isn't simple and needs a lot of fans willing to come out. People drive and fly into BWChicago every year and many do it from a lot farther than FL. It is a long way to go but it's more than showing off your MOCs, it's hanging out with cool fun people, particpating in the event (MOCs, contests, workshops, and presentations). There are still very few full conventions each year in North America. There's Brickworld Chicago, BrickCon (Seattle WA), Brickfair VA, Brick Fiesta TX, and BrickFete in Canada. Those are the main ones and they cover a LOT of miles. In FL, you really aren't near any of them. Even being in OKlahoma, I'm 9 hours drive from the nearest one. But I digress, we are traveling quite far from your original post now and nearly into another proper forum. Really posting in the Brickworld sub-forum about Brickworld is probably best if you have more questions about that in particular. If there isn't an active LUG in your area and you want to be a part of one, make your own. It's a lot of work but it's how things get going.
  11. Brickworld in Chicago allows anyone to register a MOC for display (with the appropriate entrance fee paid). The other ones are displays by invitation only and there are no standard convention things like workshops and such. So it's more like a display for the public and much smaller than the main show in June.
  12. Official site: http://service.lego.com/en-us/portal-racers
  13. There were some JP licences in the Studios line way back when, and now JW is out so I'd say it should go in Licensed.
  14. I don't think the vote makes Tarben or Mund any more or less likely to be scum. It seems like a stretch to think that a scum would vote day one on a fellow when most day one votes are unquestioned and fairly useless to analize anyway. Perhaps added with some other strange behavior in the comming day it could mean something but I'm not putting much stock in it on it's own right now.
  15. Haha I like the idea of using minifigs for numbers. You can change it for any season or theme you want to. A great concept.
  16. Vote: Brand (Brickelodeon) As I mentioned before, one of the worst things I saw was when the scrutiny on him started getting heavy, Brand suddenly points out that only a few people are talking. It was like he was trying to completely change the subject and it is a tired scum tactic. Even as a defensive tactic, the timing of it was really bad, but I don't know how much experience he has being in a scum team, maybe it's new to him and he jumped the gun on other things and floundered trying to dig a way out. From what I'e seen before, he is the nervous type.
  17. If you simply want blank torsos in blue and grey for your own builds, as well as the matching hats - you can look at Bricklink.com as others have said, but if the price for the torsos is over 85 cents, you might want to call LEGO customer service and ask them if they have the part (which will be between 65 cents and 85 cents normally for a torso). I'm not sure either color hat is still in production but the grey might be due to use in Star Wars sets.
  18. It's ok to bump a topic with something relevant to add. I actually hadn't heard about the vote, but I am not the best at keeping up with the Nintendo stuff like that.
  19. HI. If you simply remove the "s" from "https" when you paste the URL to your video and make sure you are pointing to a video and not a channel, it will embed here automatically.
  20. Everything in Agnar posted here was basically the same thing I was going to post, right down to the same quotes i had in my multiquote box, so I won't go over it all, but this part specifically really caught my eye. When Brand posted that "typical scum first day" post, I was just shaking my head wondering how more blatant he could be. Then getting into a huge argument with Pudding-Head over a silly pre-game PM from another player and both of them pulling semantics arguments - well it all seems very suspicious and resembling of a floundering scum. This is also a common thing (over-defensiveness) for inexperienced scum, though I know for a fact I did the same thing as a noob town and I would be so nervous when people accused me of anything that I ended up being a very easy target for scum to have lynched on day1 or day2 with no repercussions. So I wouldn't say you should be lynched today but you'd do best to calm down a bit and think things through, and never post "i'm looking at things closer, i'll be back later to post", which is scummy and nooby, but overall extremely useless to everyone. This whole post. Wow, you look more scummy every post. I can understand the theories that don't make sense from you, the going back and forth (sometimes within your own post or PM even), but when someone starts calling others idiots and using exclamation points (thus seeming nervous and angry), I lean a lot more toward scum than crazy-town. If you are really scum, I'm sure your team is very pissed at you for posting the PM quotes after the rules were changed and the host said in the post just before yours that he'd changed it.
  21. I'm afraid not. The forum software doesn't support embedding from Flickr or Flickr doesn't support embedding via BBCode.
  22. Pretty good start. I like the transformation.
  23. Starts juggling small kegs of mead. Heavy...please...enjoy.
  24. Not if it's a standard rod size, those don't fit into the underside holes of a baseplate.
