LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well his name is Aaron Fox, so I definitely considered that, but it still looks very much like the Wolfpack heraldry. Enough so that I consider it to be essentially the same. Still, you could remove Aaron and the point is the same. -

Good point. That would make sense, since he seems more like a Forestman than a member of the Wolfpack. -

Fair enough. Thanks for your opinions, though. I love that you see it so optimistically. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion

It seems like LEGO is trying to retcon the Wolfpack. Well, I'm mostly going to talk about the color scheme. For those who don't know, the Wolfpack are described as such: "The Wolfpack is a feared group of renegades. They won't let anything or anyone stop their quest for riches." Original Wolfpack characters were known as bandits, and wore brown, black, red, and grey: These Wolfpack bandits existed from 1992 to 1994. Since then, there have been a few references to the Wolfpack in other themes, but they have changed drastically from the original incarnation. A decade later, in 2004 the (almost) universally panned Knights' Kingdom II introduced a character named Danju who wore the Wolfpack logo in gold on purple armor: Now, over another decade later in 2016, and nearly 25 years since the original was produced, a new color has been ascribed to the Wolfpack. The Nexo Knights theme introduced a character named Aaron who wore the Wolfpack heraldry in orange on a bright green background: And now, in series 16, the Rogue is being released with another green coloration. This minifigure bears the Wolfpack emblem as a silver pin or broach. At least in that sense, the color of the wolf head is the same as that of the classic minifigures. I would post the image, but I'm not sure it's allowed (if a Moderator could clear that up, it'd be great). Aaron from Nexo Knights, as well as the Rogue from series 16, are both related to archery. Aaron uses a futuristic techno crossbow, and the Rogue wields a standard bow and arrow with a quiver (which is closer to a Ranger than a Rogue, but that's another point entirely). This is also quite a departure for the Wolfpack, who were most often depicted carrying a sword and shield (even Danju carried a sword and shield, although the original Wolfpack bandits have been shown to carry an axe or crossbow on at least one occasion each). Anyways, what happened to the old brown, black, red, and grey Wolfpack bandits? Why all of the changes over the years? Will we ever see a real update of the classic 1990's Wolfpack? I sure hope so, as I believe it fits with the original description of the characters as being bandits and renegades. Also, I've been waiting to see an updated version of the Wolfpack for a long time, so I was really hoping for something that was more in line with a remake of the classic minifigure. I guess I see this as sort of a missed opportunity, since it will likely be some time before we see another iteration (it was a decade between the originals and Danju, and another decade between Danju and Aaron). That said, I'm happy that we are getting any Wolfpack character at all, and a new variation is nice in that it adds diversity to the Wolfpack lore and history. What do you guys think? (Sorry for the long post. Wasn't sure where to post it, didn't think it needed its own thread, and this seemed like the right place.) -
With the time frame being what it is, he might be Unkar Plutt's daddy!

It's a great hat. I'd love to see it in other colors without the Ninjago sky pirate logo,

delicious.

Merlok is the best Nexo Knights figure. Too bad I have no interest in the book. I'd still love to see a Merlok 2.0 as well, but I think I'd still like this one more.

Absolutely agree. This guy hardly resembles the Wolfpack, I don't know why he has the logo. That's sexist. Is the male boxer promoting man abuse? -

Some stores will sell the whole case, if they have the stock. They sell for the full price of the 60 individual minifigures. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I had the same complaint with Chima. I was looking to make characters of a specific color scheme, but the Chi always ruined that effort. As for Ninjago, I had really wanted Clouse for his dark red / purple color scheme, until I noticed a green ball on his chest. Now I don't really care at all about Clouse. I find most Ninjago, Chima, and Nexo Knights minifigures to have these issues. -

Arabian Knight: Could have been better, but he looks good enough to get a couple. Devil Costume: Nice accessories overall, will get at least a couple. Penguin: Looks great, although I don't care much for the minifigure it comes with. Worth it. Scallywag: I like this one a lot. I will get several. Penguin Costume: Nicely done, will get multiple. Rogue: Not as good as it should have been. Green color scheme is wrong. Should have been dark brown. Biggest disappointment of the series, I expected so much more. Will still get several, as it's still one of the best in the series. Dog: Looks great, although I don't care much for the minifigure it comes with. Worth it. Mariachi: This is really well done. I will get a few. Banana Suit: It's really too bad that it has the produce sticker. Otherwise I would buy a lot of them. As it is, I will likely only get one. Baby: Looks great, although I don't care much for the minifigure it comes with. Don't know if it is worth it. All others: Not too interested. -
The problem with getting Castle minifigures through the CMF series is that we only get 1 or 2 a series, and with more and more licensed series that means we only get maybe 3-5 a year. That's too slow to be an adequate source.

What would you like for the next Castle line?

Many of us would buy a lot of them, for army building. I know I would.
