    Anyone has any idea why motors for propulsion in RC sets (like XL motor in 42070, 42030) aren't connected through clutch gears but those for normal functions are (like XL motor in 42055)? When an RC model hits the wall and the user unknowingly keeps the remote on, shouldn't the motors stall and possibly overheat, just as when the normal functions reach their ends but the switch is still on?

    I found a video comparing 42081 and 42030. It uses stock images only and not actual sets, but it's still nice to see.

    The interesting is that there is a 7L gear rack and a 13L gear rack. Does this mean the two axle will have different turning radii? Or maybe one axle will have Ackerman steering!

    @Ctan Can you share some pictures that show the two gearboxes in the undercarriage? I'm particularly interested in the gear meshes that lead to the turntable. I, like Ctan, also work on visual materials. Maybe that's why I feel the impact of color vomit more sharply.

    Since there are no worm gears, I think the rubber bands will be employed in some mechanism to keep the telescopic boom from collapsing and keep the winch from dropping. There are 2 rubber bands, so it's likely. 42070 also uses portal axle hubs but has a 13L gear rack.

    The chassis is wide but the gear rack is only 7L and there is no tow ball connector liftarm -> Ackermann steering

    @Bublehead Nah, the last crane came out in 2015. The number is 42042.

    The only set with an off putting size for me is 42025. It has long measurements in two dimensions instead of one like other sets, so I ended up having nowhere to display it and disassembling it instead. Most other sets are big but are so in length only, so storing them isn't a problem for me.

    For one thing, the multidirectional gearbox in general requires more space than the multifunctional one. I'd much prefer the former because it is more intuitive to use.
