I still don't get why this set doesn't get proper suspensions like 9398.

If there's nothing new in this set besides the motors and the BBox, I'd love to see a mod with plain old PF components to make this thing futureproof.

The official set description says the Vette is compatible with this set.

The Japanese name is 4x4 Ultimate Off Roader though. I'll wait until the official name is out.

Since 42098 has the 2in1 logo in the catalogue, but 42099 and 42100 don't, and 42099 doesnt have a B model, this one most likely wont have one either. It's a shame. I'd love to see a R9800 with the conventional backhoe configuration.

There is no gear or drive axle under the cab.

"If it works, don't fix it." - Engineering mantra. Especially when this design of a telescopic boom is actually effective. It's compact, it's sturdy, and it's smooth.

The outriggers of the real spider crane also have diagonal bulks behind and on top of them, so my mod is also realistic in terms of appearance hehe.

It is a truth welll told that TLG doesn't make anything with pendular suspensions for all axles.

This fellow here is quite unfamiliar with this place is he not. Or maybe he just got off the bed on the wrong foot in the morning and hence not quite in the right mood. 1. The pictures have confidetial marks. According to EB's rules, sharing links to pictures with confidential marks in public posts is prohibited. 2. Someone even broke the rule and posted the links in the pinned thread named Technic 2019 Discussion, the latest page. How about you go there and take a good look for yourself. 3. Ever since those links are post in that thread more people have seen the pictures of the set. It's just false that I'm the only one or one of a few who saw it while others are in the dark. The links are public already, and you or some people didnt even go around to find them, and that is my problem? Do you pay me for sharing pictures as a job? Am I dependent on you to survive? Do I have a legal or moral responsibility to ensure every single visitor to EB has taken a look at the images? 4. I don't post the links here because I want to abide by the rules. 5. I did and still do share the images, just not through public posts. People reach me through the other channel, and they have what they asked for.

You can't do that in real life either.

I tested option two (missing 1 stud retraction) on two outriggers that are spaced exactly on one side in the distance of the real model. And guess what happened? They fit so perfectly OMGG I'm definitely gonna put this mod on my model.

The third version manages to get the full 9L movement, but can be too tall for some people's tastes. I increase the height by 1 stud by replacing the top 2x4L liftarm with a 5L liftarm. Folded Extended I still prefer the second version. The use of only 1 extra 2x4L liftarm and 1 extra 9L liftarm makes this MOD blend well with the existing design language. I hope my MOD appears in Sariel's review video.

Red liftarms are additional parts required to link lowering and telescopic extensions. The back linkages pass the centerline to the otherside, so they are properly locked. A minor drawback is that the telescopic movement doesn't get to full 9 studs, but only 8 studs. Therefore, there are two configurations for this mod. First version: 8L linkage. Full retraction. Miss full extension by 1 stud. Folded: Extended: Second version: 9L linkage. Full extension. Miss full retraction by 1 stud. Folded: Extended I prefer the second option. Missing full retraction doesn't really matter because the T 3x3 beam at the end will stay squarely in the grid, which looks better than leaning inward. This mod isn't very compact, but to me it has better usability and playability. Ain't it good?

Never mind I found one way to link the lowering and the telescopic extension.

One strange thing I notice is that there is no stair to climb to the deck. I wonder why this detail is omitted. Adding another red beam next to the vertical 15L beam and add some sticker denoting steps would suffice already. Or does the sticker on the tapered 5x11 red panels denote stairs?

I made one outrigger from my spare parts, and it turns out to be less than my expectation. When the outrigger is folded in, it turns out to be very floppy. Because the outrirgger is secured at the back end (the end with the knob) only, it has quite a range of upward movement on the front end (the end that touches the ground). In other words, it doesn't sit down squarely on the 9L beam below, but only sit on the back end only. Imagine sitting on the ground, stretching two legs, but keeping it raised, like some Yoga pose... When the outrigger is folded out, I expected the linkages to click like those in 42078's trailer, or at least has a strong, secure end moment like those in 42055's mine truck dump bed. It turns out there is none of those. The outrigger just stops because of the 1L liftarm block. Rotating the 12z gear to extend the telescopic feels like a bore. On the other note, I think the yellow rack holder blends in very well. I used the LBG holder, and it doesn't look as good. I tried linking the back end linkages with the telescopic rack, so that I can have two movements linked in one, but I can't seem to find the solution. The telescopic rack moves by a distance of 9 studs, while the rotation of the back linkages has a smaller displacement.
