MLCad - highway rigs
Nequmodiva replied to neonic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What kind of length 6 white slope part is there on the roof? I think the clips holding the antennas collide with it? -
Maybe gofundme? If your project is successful, will the instructions be released for free or will only people who contributed a minimum receive them? If it fails, will instructions still be for sale or will the project be canceled?

I didn't know you built it in LDD only. I thought you very just too lazy to makes photos . Why didn't you build it? Do you not own 42078? Then why did you design an alternate for it? -
42069 - C MODEL
Nequmodiva replied to Dyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes with some bending the connector should come off, so it's not completely impossible. In the video you already bend it while inserting- 53 replies

42069 - C MODEL
Nequmodiva replied to Dyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's very nice. I prefer building from PDF so much more than building from video. (But video is still better than building from lxf.) Though I will probably not getting to test build this because I don't own 42069. Looking through the instructions I noticed one thing: on page 41, 2. picture, it will be hard getting the axle with stop out of that frame again.- 53 replies

[C-MODEL] 42078 - Mobile crane
Nequmodiva replied to Dyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very impressive alternate model! Do you have plans to make instructions? I would volunteer to help. In fact I already started to rebuild it in LDD from the photos.- 33 replies

I managed to build it: I did not have problems with seeing the tubing in the instructions. But actually getting them trough the designated holes was hell. And yes also had problems with the arm cylinder. While lifting the arm for the tubing the cylinder lost it's lower connection to the model. Certainly not frustration free Also left out some steps, like page 17, too much force required. And page 139.

Nice progress so far! What is the linear actuator there for? It shouldn't be necessary? While the picture of the real crane you posted only has a single boom, it now looks more like a luffing crane like Leonard Goldstein posted. So I'm a bit unsure what your goal is. Does the front tip of the boom remain at the same height? Some years ago I wrote an article about the geometry of level luffing cranes:

[C-MODEL] 42061 Forklift
Nequmodiva replied to Nequmodiva's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes I considered the worm gear. But then the handle to rotate would be pointing upwards, just where the gear rack comes up and interferes with the operators hand. Or the handle would be at the bottom :) -
I created a forklift alternate model from 42061 Telehandler: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-10983/Nequmodiva/42061-forklift/#comments The fork can be raised (gear rack with housing) and tilted (mini LA). It has back wheel steering (HOG, linkage). Cabin and back hatches lift up. I created PDF instructions (computer generated images): https://bricksafe.com/files/nequmodiva/42061-forklift/42061_Forklift_instructions.pdf If you rebuild it and like it share a photo (for example through the photo tab on Rebrickable)!

Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Nequmodiva replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice to see there will be coming more watercrafts and that 42064 was no exception. There haven't been a lot of boats in the Technic line else, besides the always recurring mini hovercrafts. Those black curved panel of the hovercraft ferry could make for a good submarine B-model? There wasn't a submarine in ages. But I'm not really convinced by the shape of the ferry, looks too rectangular. B-model of 42025 had the better looks. So I'm more keen for the catamaran and curious for its functions. Looking at the size of the box it should be a good medium sized model. I guess rally car will be very popular among AFOLs, just like 42039 has been. I really like that it looks more like normal car, compared to 42039 and 42050. I'm not that much into motor sports and don't recognize those more exotic vehicles. The pullbacks only reminds me of the awful late 90s competition line... The Mack is probably going to look very good like all licensed sets have been. But people seem to get their hopes up too much and forget that this is will most likely not be a flagship model. -
This cherry picker is an alternate of 42053 Volvo EW160E. Functions are steering, platform lifting, boom rotation and extending outriggers. Boom rotation is done with a knob at the back. Also at the back are knobs for the outriggers, one for each side. Outriggers can actually lift the vehicle from the ground. It's just not visible in the photos because I placed it on soft ground. For the pneumatic system I did not choose the hand pump. I rather went with the small pump and a crank. It takes some rotations for the lifting, but works really good and has a better fine tuning of the height than the hand pump. Also I did connect the pneumatic actuator only with one tube. Gravity is enough to lower the platform. There's a hatch door above the pneumatic pump and a door for the platform. On the black panel at the front the sticker for the B model is applied. I've published more photos, inventory and ldd-file at rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-8542/Nequmodiva/42053-cherry-picker/#comments

There are 5 civilian buildings in the Creator line this year, more than ever before. And even two Creator vehicles include minifigs now (31046, 31066), so Creator is more and more invading the city line.
-
Nice graphic, but as others mentioned the prices ranges are bit misleading as there's a big difference inside the groups, and between sets in groups next to each other sometimes a much smaller difference. Maybe you could make a continuous scale for price and place every set on the exact high? But sure it already shows that we are not getting less this year.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Nequmodiva replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lets be realistic here. A car chassis set is a somehow unfinished model. It wouldn't fit into the current technic range. Every parent or child standing in a toy shop would choose any other set because they simply look better. I'm sure LEGO never even considered releasing the combined model as a separate set. Only reaching those AFOLs with a fond memory of the original car chassis set is a very small target group for a product. And that's why it's more than nice that they still took the effort to make the instructions for this updated version! And those of us who want a permanent build of it for their collection probably have enough spare parts or know how to bricklink them anyway. -
