  1. Fingers crossed I get picked, and toes crossed it's for set A! Good luck everyone. Christmas time is the bestest time.
  2. Very good review of a very good set. I mean, I have an army of Santas, but this is the first angry one, so that makes him unique. And is it extremely crass to mention I have another of this set that I'm quite comfortable parting with? [i'd planned to get a second of set #1, and then have the pair for another thing I wanted to do, but wasn't able to get the first one in the store, so now I have a second #2 that might as well get a new home.]
  3. Hey dudes, I don't want this to be a breach of protocol here, and feel free to edit this post should it prove to be, but I was scouting Kijiji for chuckles and I saw this ad. It ain't me, but now I'm curious... Where did this guy get the DC figures already? Have the released and I just didn't notice? Have these all been seen before and I'm just really late to the party?
  4. ON the last episode of The Amazing Race, teams went to Legoland in Billund and had to assemble a little puzzle thing out of printed bricks while riding the teacups, or whatever they're called there. I'd have preferred they spent more time there, but they were in and out pretty quick.
  5. Maybe there's less demand for these boutiquey figures than I'd assumed.
  6. Ah. It does... did it always? That makes it an easier decision.
  7. If this Monster Fighters thing pans out... I may have finally struck on a theme I'll buy every set of. Even the big one.
  8. Well now I'm really confused about what's going on.
  9. The email was pretty innocuous, and it led here.
  10. I'm trying to figure out if what's being offered tomorrow is gonna be the same as what's offered next weekend, and if either are gonna be the same online or in store or what. It's tough keepin' up with all this! At this point I'm trying to decide if it's worth fudging my plans to make it up to the nearest store tomorrow morning, or just hold off 'til next Friday. Hmmmmmmmm.
  11. I'm sure most people here did as well, but I got a rather mysterious email from LEGO about shopping tomorrow. Not that the email itself is weird; I get them quite often, but the fact that it says there's a thing tomorrow, but goes on to say nothing at all about it... I got a little antsy because I actually can't make it to a store tomorrow unless I cancel a plan. I wish I knew what deals the thing was actually offering, to see if it was worth the effort of rearranging my schedule.
  12. Dude, I just finished building the Bakery this afternoon, so the Winter Village is as built as it currently can be right now. A little ahead of schedule, but damn if they don't look lovely all together.
  13. Wink, wink, nudge nudge. Say no more. Anyway, yeah, I'm gonna try and make the trip up there morning of the 25th. Fairview or Sherway, I'm unsure... I'm about halfway between both. I guess I could call ahead on Thursday to see if they have the stuff I'm looking for. I think Emerald Night is a pretty standard in-store item, but I'm not sure if the PF stuff needed to make it run is an always-on-the-shelf deal or not. I guess I could always just get the EN and order the engine online later that day. SO much shopping... so little money.
  14. Last year, what sort of deals were in-store that might be different from those online? I can get to the store Friday or Saturday, but, well... it's easier to order online, plus I don't want to get out there to find they don't have the stuff I'm looking for [i'm shopping for some specific stuff]. But if there's neat on-store stuff, or better deals or whatever, I can and will make the trip. Advice requested! [Especially from the employees in the thread, if you're allowed to chime in.]
  15. MMV had a pub in it, didn't it? Which is why I should really get the MMV, as a Winter Village Annex.
  16. Hey guys! Has anyone seen a Super-Secret-Special-VIP Brick Friday Invite in Canada yet? I'm wondering if we're gonna get them... I humbly request that if anyone gets the invite, and doesn't have a +1, that I may be considered. Oh, and I'll offer my +1 to people here, should I prove worthy enough to be invited myself [which I haven't as yet...].
  17. Not to trend off-topic [although it seems appropriate here], but what sort of stuff might there be in-store for Brick Friday? I'd intended on taking it easy and just shop-at-home a few things [Emerald Night, some PF parts], but if there's neat stuff and different deals at the physical location, I may have to figure out a way to get out to the store that morning.
  18. This is neat... wonder if I'll make the cut at either of the Toronto locations? We shall see!
  19. I'm probably jumping the gun a bit, and might be in violation of at least one of the rules, but I just did this thing yesterday, and the timing and appropriateness is too much to pass up. I dunno if you'd count the toboggan hill/train tunnel as the MOC, or the AT-AT: Special Holiday Edition, but either way, it's Star Wars, it's festive, and it's badly photographed:
  20. Prime is okay, but Bumblebee is wonderful.
  21. Has anyone LDDd a tunnel structure? I know the odds are low, but I'm plotting out my big ol' holiday display, and I think a snowy tunnel for the train could be quite attractive, but as I haven't got a train [yet], I'm not sure of the scale of the thing. I will have to study some of these pictures to get a sense of how big it's gotta be.
  22. I like the Kre-O kits quite a bit, although I realized about halfway through the process of collecting most of them that I liked them not despite of, but because of the bad design. See, I likes me my LEGO, but I'm also often at a loss creatively, so I really don't do much free building. And LEGO designs are so good most of the time that I build the kit, and am quite pleased. Kre-O, on the other hand, featured so many frustratingly poor choices, that I'm forced every time I build or rebuild to rework the whole thing. I'm actually getting more building fun out of those kits, 'cause I hafta correct them so much. So, you know. There's that.
  23. So I'm warming up to the idea of getting the Emerald Night for my holiday display, but [at this point] I'm fairly confident it'll be the only train I get for a good long while [or possibly ever] mostly due to space and cost [Christmas sort of trumps stuff and is a great go-to excuse]. Now, I'm already looking into track off of BL, and I'm definitely going to get the battery box and light kit from S@H, because they're cheap and lights look boss. Also, the motor's only an extra 10 bucks on top of that, so it's worth it for the gimmick. In the interest of saving money, though, I'm contemplating stopping there, and not bothering with the IR bits [about an extra $40 here in Canada, inexplicably]. But without them, just how fast would the train really be going? I understand without the remote the only option is full-tilt, and I don't really want the thing zooming around like mad. Is it worth the extra investment to get a nice, leisurely pace outta the train? Side question: about how long would 6 batteries run the motor/lights combo at full power? I'm looking at running the thing for maybe a few minutes in total, but I'm sill curious. I'm having trouble understanding the costing of the rechargable unit, although if you're running these things daily, I guess I could see it making sense.
  24. Ha, I know now. I looked through Bricklink and found a bunch of them. Mostly chauffeurs, apparently.
  25. Hello, I have a Minifigure set from the Fairview Mall LEGO store opening that I'm willing to part with on account of it apparently being valuable, and me having very little fluid fundage. The set is a happy chef, an orange-dressed woman, and a slick-haired business guy. The set is #220. It's hard to find an appropriate price for this thing, but based on Bricklink and eBay, and then lowering it a bit so as not to look greedy, I'd be willing to part with it for 100 bucks [plus shipping]. Let me know if this is exciting or exorbitant.
