Any Monster Fighters or LOTR stuff at either of the Toronto LEGO stores? I wanna go sometime this weekend and spend money I don't have, but both are a bit of a schlep for a random check-in.

As I said when this was just a rumour, I'm eager to get Series 7.5 here. Being in Canada, though, it may prove a challenge. Hopefully I can convince one of my Commonwealth brethren to scoop up a set to ship overseas to me.

Monster Fighters 2012

The ghost is so lovely, and yet it makes me sad. Polybags are so difficult to get in Canada, or at least they feel that way. I wish brand stores would just carry them like they do everything else. I'd certainly get at least two of that one, but it's gonna be hard getting even one, I fear. Unless, of course, it's one of the very few that DOES show up at TRU here, in which case there will be millions of them [it's all or nothing, apparently]. Which I won't complain about. -

I'm so torn on that sticker on the Hearse. I've always been a pro-sticker guy, but that thing is so big. But... it's also sorta badass. So I'm not really sure what I'm going to end up doing. Oh! I just came to the conclusion: I'm gonna get the set [which I always was gonna do anyway] and then bricklink whatever piece it uses for the roof, so I can have a stickered and non-stickered version, to change if and when the mood strikes. LEGO wins. -
As I said before, anyone who gets a Store Promo and/or Minifigure set they don't want [which I'm assuming will be new in some way?], I have one from the Fairview Mall opening I'd be happy to trade. Just, you know... puttin' it out there.

I know, and VIP points are attractive, but I feel less like a slimeball feeling up packs at Chapters vs the LEGO store, when the latter is always way busier and the figures are on a lower, harder-to-get-to shelf. Plus I have a giftcard for Chapters. Man, I'm full of excuses.

Maybe I'm nervous for no good reason, but my former source for Minifigres, the Eaton Centre Indigo, has me concerned... They apparently just put out four cases of Series 6 that show little evidence of anyone having gone through. I hope this doesn't lessen the amount of Series 7 they get. If it only delays it, that's fine, but I always fear over-ordering of certain waves and a resultant under-ordering of subsequent waves.

That's a great idea! PLUG! -
There is a box of Series 7 at Toys Toys Toys in the Eaton Centre, which is good news only because it means the Indigo should be getting them soon, although it's a little disconcerting that it and the World Biggest Books both seem to have a bunch of Series 6 just sitting there still. But yeah, they're definitely in Toronto, and will be at a store that doesn't jack the price to baffling levels pretty soon.

Hearse, Swamp Monster, Werewolf and Zombies: SOLD! Everything else will have to wait for discount, if possible. I like the ghost train, but for something that size or price, I'm gonna need to love it. Maybe I can score it and the castle on some deep discounts in a year [like I did with the Alien Conquest stuff], but I won't hold my breath on that. Still, the above purchase will get me 4 of the 5 heroes, and enough of the monsters to make me happy. I'll be sad without the Vampire Bride, but I'll cope. Oh, and the Haunted House!! So excited about this year. -

I was sort of hoping the Zombies set wouldn't come with a vehicle, encouraging me to buy more than one of them. But I'm getting at least one. Lady zombies rule [and she actually looks fairly creepy], and anything to disprove all those people who say the Shawn of the Dead set is unmarketable is good by me. -
Is that why I saw a bunch of dudes buying them last night at Toys R Us? I thought it was odd but never investigated. Eh, I'm not into the SW so it's no great loss, but that's a good price for those kits, even just for parts.

This is good to hear. I have a hundred dollar gift certificate for Chapters with Series 7s name on it. I'm eager to fondle some packs, yo!

Put me down as someone in the colonies who wants a set, if one of my fine cousins in the UK could hook me up with one. I specifically like the Equestrian. Not entirely sure why, but I do.

How far IS Rochester? Road trips are the bee's knees. Although hey, any of you Vancouverites get an extra of that nifty LEGO Store set, I'd trade ya my Fairview Mall Grand Opening Minifigure set for it! Totally worth it. For YOU!

I was convincing myself I didn't want any of the Marvel Superheroes line... but that Wolverine/Magneto/Deadpool set is calling to me. Loudly. The helicopter might make a much better replacement for the junky thing in the Dino Defense HQ I picked up recently. And Magneto... Magneto. Dreamy.

The MBA kits bum me out because they're US exclusive for whatever reason. I found a local store here [in Canada] that had the first kit, but it was crazy marked-up. This series in particular look nice. Hey, maybe LEGO stores up here will be sent some? Maybe? Pretty please? -
I was finally going to pull the trigger on the Funhouse set, and Shop.Lego's shopping cart wont load. Is this just me or is the site boned for some reason? Of course, by the time I get a reply, it'll probably be fixed. But I'm impatient!

I dig CUUSOO. It's silly, sure. And somewhat unfocused. And not a lot of people seem to like what I'm suggesting [probably because I'm suggesting a concept rather than a finalized model, but that's because whatever gets picked is going to be totally overhauled by LEGO anyways, so there's no point putting a lot of effort into a perfect model... plus, I don't have the pieces to make the stuff I'd like]. But I still like the promise of CUUSOO. It's like trendspotting. You need to find something that will hit big, get it into the social media, and see if it'll blow up by hitching it onto a pre-existing community. Now, convincing 10,000 people to register at some website is virtually impossible, but hey, that's a concern for a later day.

This thread is rife with enabling. I try not to buy anything in secret, because I have nowhere to hide it, so most of what I have is out in the open. I may not necessarily broadcast every new purchase, banking on the wife simply not asking "Is that new?" Which she generally doesn't. But she'll still give me the "You can't really afford this" which, you know, she's not wrong about. And yeah, maybe I toss boxes as quickly as possible, and outside of the house when able. Oh, and I snuck off on a trip about an hour away from home one day in secret, but that was to get the big Alien Conquest truck on sale for, like 50 bucks! I'll do what is required to score deals, because the proudness of getting something for a good price is worth whatever mild shame I feel for doing it in secret.

REVIEW: 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van
IAmWillGibson replied to dr_spock's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sorry for the bit of threadromancy here, but I just finished building this set last night, and, yeah, it's lovely. But now I can't help but want someone to drive the thing. To those of you who own one, and are also not afraid to admit to owning a Belville figure [if such a combination exists], would one of those fit inside comfortably? I'd prefer to have something officially LEGO driving, and I want to be sure of sizing before I bother with Bricklinking something like this guy. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
IAmWillGibson replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry for the creative use of hyperbole. I'll add a smiley next time to avoid confusion. In any case, the new projects page 1 right now is still showing 7 out of 24 suggestions being some variation of a Clone battle pack. That's ridiculous. -

IAmWillGibson replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've come to the conclusion that on Cuusoo there should either be a sub-site devoted just to Star Wars ideas [or what pass for them over there], OR they should all be scrapped entirely. Most of them are literally junky repetitions of each other, and all of them are generally redundant because the license is already there, so what's the point? It makes it hard to stay interested in searching through new ideas when 90% of them are boxes of clones. -

All good points. I always forget it's still a very young system. I find myself attracted to the more technical ideas, suggestions for zany new parts r very specialized components rather than fully-developed models, although those don't seem to build up any real following. It seems you need a license or secondary fandom to tap into to get anywhere near enough votes. Although... that can't be true for the sub or the satellite. Are there lots of Hayabusa fansites out there?
