  1. Trip to the local Indigo in Toronto netted me the whole of Series 6, plus an extra Centurion and Alien, 'cause them's the ones I wanted two of. All in all a pretty easy set to feel your way through. And speaking of Aliens and feeling... A Kids in The Hall joke rendered in LEGO
  2. CUUSOO that thing!
  3. Canada Post came through! I got Dengar as my Mystery Figure. Now I need to scrape together his little backpack. Thanks for the raffle. I shall participate again!
  4. If the weather were better I'd maybe make the walk. I got two figures from the Fairview mall on the weekend, but it was busy and stressful and I didn't have the patience to sit there any longer. Although I do prefer getting these guys at a place where I get some kickback, so Chapters may be the winner [Plum Rewards aren't as good as VIP points, but anything's better than nothing when it's all the same cost]. Plus, Chapters still has a metric pants-load of S5, so I'm going to try and take it at a more relaxed rate and collect the figures one or two at a time. Assuming there's as much of this series as the last one.
  5. Made my way out to the LEGO store yesterday and it was insanely busy. But I got Battle Suit Lex vs Superman [a fantastic set for the cost, I gotta say], The Flying Dutchman [spongebob version], two S6 figures [Minotaur and Saloon Floozy], two keychains deeply discounted, the Ninjago card shrine thing on sale, and the Valentines box. I got the Kendo Jay bonus with that, and I also used my Christmas Pick-A-Brick box, which, being the first time I ever did a PAB, took forever to figure out what I wanted and how to stuff it. Although according to PAB on LEGO.com, what I got clocks in at $67.60 Canadian in value, which is pretty boss. I'm sure it's far less than that on Bricklink, but I'm too lazy to bother figuring it out. Still, it was stressful in a store that full, but it was fun.
  6. Hmm. This is gonna save me a trip out to the local Stores, I think. I'm not leaving my house for anything less than that Funhouse!! Although I need to use my free pick a brick box soon...
  7. I was under the impression this was going to end up being a 5 pack of Zombies, which I would have been all in for. This selection is... weird. All fine and good figures, sure, but none that I'd want another of.
  8. Yup, the backs have the location and year ont hem, so they really are very unique pieces. If you're into that sort of thing.
  9. I'm pretty psyched about this series. There's actually quite a few I'd like more than one of, which is really odd for me. I like, too, that it looks like it's gonna be pretty easy to pick figures based on feel. Everything's really unique. And I'm happy the Alien is an actual Alien, and not a "guy dressed as Alien" or whatever, because it means the "monster" is back in the set, having been missing in the last wave. I doubt these are anywhere near Canada yet, but I think I'm gonna go hunting for them today anyways because I'm foolish.
  10. Those are exactly the three I want from this line, although I'm pretty turned off by the price of the Catwoman set, especially considering how reasonable the Funhouse one is. If the Batman were a different print, I'd probably be more forgiving, but as is, I may have to skip Catwoman for the time being. The other two though, are a lock. Christmas money!
  11. Dude, next year is gonna be expensive. Swamp-monster [at least one copy, maybe more for multiple Deep Ones], whatever "The Zombies" is [again, likely more than once], and the Hearse are 100% locks. That fencing Bowler-hat dude is boss. The Werewolf set is... interesting, I guess? I sorta like the new head, although I think I prefer the more streamlined Wolfman look, but the use of the Wolverine claws is interesting. Dracula's Castle and the Ghost Train are both nice, but probably beyond my price range [i seldom get expensive sets]. And then the Mummy Chariot and Frankenstein Lab are both sorta bleh. But it's good to have stuff you don't want, to make the stuff you do want more exciting. Looks like there's a few Thor hammers kickin' around in there too. Looks like this is gonna be set up the same as Atlantis and Ninjago and the others, with collectible coloured parts or whatever. Each set has a triangle or figure [it's hard to make out] and the castle has all of them arranged on the one tower.
  12. There was one Super Heroes set at the TRY in the Duff on the weekend. The Batwing set. I'm holding out for the Funhouse for the Batman character load-up. Also they had the Spongebob Flying Dutchman which normally I wouldn't give a poo about, but I really like that Dutchman figure and the rest of the set is quirky enough I'm gonna give it a go, I think.
  13. I don't wanna sound like a rube here, but what is the function of a LUG? Sittin' around, bouncing bricks off each other's foreheads? I figure I'm entrenched in this goofy business deep enough, maybe it's time I found out.
  14. It did make a good entry.
  15. I'm giving this thread a bump. I am open to offers on the set. It's really quite nice and such, but with the season and things, selling is smarter I think.
  16. I thought of this exactly a minute after emailing them back saying I live in Canada. You need to be a resident to officially win [i asked]. Aww well, nice to know I sorta won!
  17. So I got an email saying I won [3rd place] in the Santa Yoda contest LEGO is holding, which is cool beans, right? Except I can't win 'cause I'm in Canada. Gah!! Foiled again.
  18. Yeah, got selected! It's a Christmas Miracle. And while, sure, Set A may have been preferred, now I get the added bonus of waiting to see what the mystery figure is. It's like Advent all over again, all over again.
  19. Last year and this year I did the same thing: opened it through November. It made more sense to me, as then I'd have more time to enjoy the bits and pieces properly [December get's crazy] and let them breathe a bit before dismantling the Christmas display and probably absorbing most of these parts into the slush piles. Avoid my blog if you don't want spoilers.
  20. This is more fun than the City Advent Calendar this year.
  21. Nah, I ain't feeling guilty for buying them. Maybe for forgetting to tell anyone though. Story time: I'd been after the Limo for a long time, but never wanted it at full price. Then it sort of dried up everywhere, when I saw it at Sears in early October for around 40 bucks reduced. Now, at the time I was low on funds and was saving for more important purchases, so I said "Nope!" like a good, responsible boy, and sorta hated myself because it was gone when I went back in a few days. And then I was there, because I had a feeling, a dream perhaps, that it was still there somewhere, floating around in the back or under a box. That Sears is pretty generally messy, so it was possible. And kablam! Like fate. There was the Limo, and at an even lower price. Like I said, there was also two Fortresses, the Dojo, and the Hyperspeed Pursuit. I directed a kindly gandparenty couple who were looking at LEGO to the sale rack, but I'm not sure if they got anything. But two days later I'd convinced myself the Dojo was worth having, and, happily, everything but the other Space Police set was still sitting there. At that point it occurred to me I should probably tell other dudes on here. You definitely went to the Clearance section, and not just the LEGO section? They were in a different spot.
  22. Because...... I'm........... slowww.
  23. Dude, any Snake People you get that you don't want, send 'em my way. I'm into this new wave almost exclusively for the Snake People [except the weird two-headed one]. Children of Yig, yo.
  24. Heads-up for anyone around the Eaton Centre downtown Toronto: Sears has a 50% off clearance thing right now, and I was in there on Monday to see a stack of LEGO which counted as clearance. So it was already a reduced price, and then 50% off that. I grabbed the Lunar Limo [which I've been after for a while] and it came to $22 after tax. There was also a Hyperspeed Pursuit, Spinjitzu Dojo, and Garmadon's Dark Fortress, which I left because I have to practice some self control. Which lasted until yesterday, when I went back to get the Dojo [those printed windows were too hard to deny, and luckily it was still there]. That came to something like 25 bucks. Anyway, as of yesterday morning, there were still 2 Garmadon's Dark Fortresses that were marked down to 68 something, so with the sale they'd be about 35 bucks. No idea if they're still there now, but if you're eager, have a look.
  25. I've sort of gone insane over the past few weeks. Just seems like some good deals have spring up that I can't deny [at least as far as Canadian prices go]. I got Emerald Night and all appropriate PF stuff for it, a bunch of track off of BL along with parts for a mosaic project I'm doing for the upcoming nuptials, the brand new Safari set [i love these super-basic sets], the Car & Caravan, the Wedding set and a towel off of S@H, and then on top of that the Prison Tower Rescue for 40 bucks, the Spinjitzu Dojo for 25 and the Linar Limo for 22. Those last two were the sweetest plum. Suffice it to say I sorta ran out of available room really fast.
