I really like this set. I love the townhouse part. Not that I can really afford these big sets, I... might wanna see if I can make this work. Although for a pet store you think they coulda thrown in a goat or something!
-
So while I've essentially given up the ghost on the hope of getting the Mini-Figure set on Saturday [if you somehow get two... or work there... save me one?], at least I'm gonna try and make it on Friday and get the silly little R2-D2 Duplo brick. [i'm assuming you all got this postcard dealie?] Although I'm probably gonna show up too early or something. Bad luck all 'round!

Yeah, I just did a dummy order, and there the ARF DID pop up before checkout. Ugh, I'm sorta plotzing now. Well, I sent LEGO CS an email, hopefully they'll patch it up. They're good kids, right? Although I guess I coulda called them. Hmmmmmmmph.

I went for the AT-AT. Do I have the room? Do I have the money? Probably no on both counts, but that's why shopping after midnight is a bad idea. Now we wait and see if I get the Black ARF or not... he didn't appear on the invoice.

I think I'll have to check in at midnight and see what's the what. The Black ARF guy does look pretty sharp, but I'm not sure what, if any, sets I want. I'm hoping for sales...

I finally took a picture that features some Series 4 guys, so I thought I'd throw it up here. -
Perhaps I'm silly but I find this completely unbelievable. In that I don't believe it.

Pretty sure I'm gonna try to be there fairly early on Friday. I know I'm gonna miss out on the bonus figures, but I think I'd a missed out on the anyways, even if I tried for Saturday morning. I'll still hope to be one of the first to plunder the wall, or maybe some build-a-figs. If the price stays at $9.99 [which I feel won't be the case, despite the juggernaut that is our current dollar value]. I've also decided that the A1 numero uno thing I'm psyched about having the LEGO store around for is [fingers crossed] polybag sets. I hope they have a good steady stream of them, 'cause they've gotta be the toughest thing to track down here, in my experience.

Why do you say it'll be Chinese? The guys in the last City one were standard-issue figures.

Being a fan of micro-scale stuff in general, plus not having that many Star Wars minifigures, combined with my extreme love of the Santa Yoda means I'm far into the want category for this set. Negative being that licensed stuff is pricey, so I feel this set might not be... excellently priced. I also doubt it'll be in stores here much, if at all.

Good thing I popped back into this thread. I was all ready and planning to make it there for the big opening Friday morning, but the exclusive bonus for showing up extra early is only available on Saturday? Getting there bright and early on Friday is far more easy for me than Saturday, to be honest. I guess, though, if I'm on my way by... 8:30, I could make it for open. Hopefully there aren't 300 more insane people than me. What might the 'exclusive' minifigure set be? Is that gonna be the entire grand opening exclusive set? Seems a little half-baked compared to some of the other neat, specific stuff other stores have gotten [i was hoping for a micro-CN Tower, although I guess that'd be sorta boring in reality]. Unless, of course, it's somehow very 'Canadian' [or better, very Torontonian], but I can't imagine what that might be. A Mountie? A Kensington Hipster? Rob Ford? The Indianapolis one was three people watching NASCAR, so there's some hope for this, maybe. Either way, I'll have to re-plan my entire schedule. We should make a list of people going, so we can organize a line-holding so as to bogart the exclusives. That's what adult collectors are all about, yo! Anyway, I did some reconnaissance at the Sherway yesterday, and the location [still boarded up] looks pretty small, all told. EDIT: I just read some guy's report about the Indy opening, and he waited in line for 2 hours and was guy #406 out of 500 for the exclusive. I'm starting to wonder if the figures are worth the effort. I'm gonna hafta be on my way by, like, 7. Ugghhhhh.

I love that Mary Jane's expression is, like "What sorta dummy would think this is a good idea?"

These pictures make my pictures look like I pooped in a camera. -
Canada Post is the slowest postal service in the world [40% mail still delivered by horses], but they've seen fit to finally deliver my Maerskmen. Now to buy a train for them to, uh, pilot!

I'm not adding anything new here, but I'd like to say that the most incongruous coffee machine to me is the one in the Rock Wrecker. I got this set on a crazy discount, and knew nothing about it, and as I was building it, there was this on-board coffee machine. It was confusing and amusing. And I was all, like, "Whaa?" And I enjoyed the remainder of the day. That is all. Carry on!

I must request free LEGO every 108 minutes. Because I can't bear to find out what happens if I don't.

I love how this thread has demonstrated some kind of fundamental cautious agnosticism among forum-dwellers. No one believes the offer to be true. And yet no one will risk not asking for free LEGO. You know... just in case. Also, pink and Hello Kitty and such and so forth. Just to fit it.

Your pictures look good. I can never get mine to focus right. Maybe I gotta get my head outta my butt and get a better camera? That and the combination of LEGO and nature just... I dunno, works for me. I think I may just go ahead and follow you.

So it took some time, but I finally banged this thing out in real life. I had to alter a bit based on the limited number of parts I have access to, including some compromises I'm going to change as soon as the right bits become available [the electricity is currently composed of three non-matching colours... uck]. First thing was getting rid of the Scientist's hair. Man, did I hate that thing. But now I gotta say this feels like a good addition to Spookytown.

Dude, I'd gladly cover shipping on anything you'd wanna send over here. I have nothing specific in mind, nor am I picky. I'm pretty much a slut for LEGO. Put me on the list somewhere. Specifics, just 'cause it's fun to make lists: the monster-based Studios stuff would rule, and any monster-like things. And I've been sorely tempted to get involved in train stuff, so, you know, that. [Although I still feel, perhaps, you should keep some of it. You never know, right? The bug always returns.]

I was very surprised to find S4 at the Dufferin in Toronto, 'cause that place is usually pretty far behind the curve, but there were at least 4 boxes by my count on Sunday afternoon. I pulled out a sealed one and got my set out of it after some feverish groping and snarling at an old guy who was fiddling with my 'keepers' pile. The Scientist proved hardest to find for sure. I'm unsure what goes into the thinking regarding the distribution. Also, I miss the barcodes a lot. They didn't make it easy to know what you're getting by any stretch, but no one here is just grabbing and buying blindly. And I felt like a real skuzz manhandling all the pouches for that long. Barcodes make it just a little easier for us set collectors, while not hindering in any way those that do wanna just buy a blind one [if there are any people like that]. Although hoarders mess stuff up... Ach, there's just no winning. [Dots helped maybe 40%, I'd say. When you could see them, they were great. But too often you just couldn't see them.]

I was never huge into Bionicle, but I always had a few somewhere in the collection. Having recently come out of the steaming dark age, it's taken me a few months to warm-up to and dig out the old canisters buried in some forgotten corner of the basement. Well, I got them, and was futzing with Zaktan, who I recall always sorta hating [i think this may have been one of the last LEGO products I got for a good 5 years]. Anyway, I'm wasting time. So he's got cool legs, and I went about building a cooler body on top of this. And it ended up being this, my first [and based on the number of pieces I own, only] Bionicle MOC. Here are two more pictures. Hardest part was figuring out a way to add a jaw to that goofy Visorak bit. And adding something to the hollow on top. I'm not 100% pleased, but the spikey thing is growing on me. Don't go swimming alone!

I stalked the two local Walmarts yesterday and bupkis [Runnymead and the Duff]. I hafta say, I'm sorta paranoid about this series for some reason. I think I was spoiled rotten on the last wave.

Dude, I was totally gonna do this and then forgot to. I'm really glad you did. LEGO + morbidity = radical.
