  1. What shade of blue are the tiles in this set? I'mnlooking to buy some extras for a MOC
  2. Can you do a screen grab and post a picture? I browse on my iPad and don't have LDD handy (would looove an iPad version of LDD)
  3. I'd have two directly drivable wheels, one in each L/R leg, and then let the third leg have a freely swivelable(?) wheel. Then you'd drive him like a tank. He needs to be able to spin on the spot. fix his ankles so they are more stable, and also fix the third leg in place. That'd also free up space internally for motors etc. Even then it'd be tight in there for two motors and a battery pack. Three motors if you want artoo's head to spin (and don't forget the PF lights)
  4. cool tutorial, really clear. I'm about to take my first steps into this area, and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to order decal solutions (softener and solvent) in the UK? Decal paper and spray clear coat seems ok - craftycomputer sells it and a couple of other places, but I can't find the solutions.
  5. Hi, I'd love a 'Big Ben' clock face decal that would fit on a 2x2 tan tile. The Big Ben architecture set is great, but many people have said that the clock face sticks out too much. Also its a generic white clock with a second hand which is all wrong. Big Ben only has hour and minute hands, plus it is much more ornate than the standard clock. A custom decal on a square tile would be able to get both the clock face with more detail, but also the square gold detail surrounding the clock. (apologies if this is strictly minifigs only, I couldn't see where else to post) edit: As the clock face is white, and printers don't print white, would I need to apply the decal to a white tile I guess?
  6. maybe they want to keep options open logistically? Eg break out the jeep or helicopter as a separate pocket money set, so it makes sense for the instructions to be separate? Or from their research they found that people like to build these kinds of sets in groups? eg Dad builds the jeep while their child builds the helicopter? (Although its simple enough to collate all instruction steps into one booklet and split out later on)
  7. This is what I have so far. The roof area is only 4x4 studs (area just above the clock face), and needs to leave studs exposed for the top part This kind of works ok, and also the longer 1x2 cheese slopes with slats work in there as well (This one), I just didn't have them in dark bley It's the small working area that is stumping me a little.
  8. Don't see it happening.nthe build able logo isn't a large enough build to make it a sets eat, so it'll be argued by hasbro that it's a set of action figures and shoot it down. Lego will know this so probably won't even progress with it. Also, they would argue that they already do battle packs which acheive the same ends
  9. Picked up a second set at the weekend (along with the sopwith camel). Here is my go at a modded big Ben The roof is tricky, I might try with the longer slatted cheese slopes to get a steeper pitch, but I'm pretty happy with this so far.
  10. Finally finished building artoo today. If nothing else, the head shows you how to build decent domes from Lego. He's a great looking set when built up, and the build is a lot of fun, layering detail all over the little guy. He's a bit wobbly when on three legs - the 'ankles' seem like a weak point as they have to adjust the angle for the different stances. Perhaps that's one reason they didn't put wheels in his feet.
  11. I was big into technic, it was my main interest that bought me out of my dark ages. But recently I've really fallen out of love with it. I don't know if I stopped liking the sets, but I got much more into SW and modular sets. I guess I just felt more for the sculptural side than the mechanical.
  12. I'm trying to make a slightly larger model of the Big Ben architecture set, to allow me to not have the clock face sticking out. But I've run into trouble with the roof. Seems that Lego don't make any 75 degree corner pieces. This seems odd, as they have a 75 degree slope, and a roof 'cap' but no corners. So any suggestions how to work around this? I was thinking to use the smallest wedge pieces, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to hinge them at an angle to form a roof. I've tried the standard 45 degree slopes and they just look wrong. I need the roof to be four studs wide at the bottom, two studs wide at the top and about a brick high, maybe 4 studs. Plus I need to be able to build on top of it, so I need to be able to get something through from underneath - even if it's just a pole
  13. I'm giving this build Extra points for keeping my 7-year-old daughter quiet for a few hours :) she's a big minecraft fan so even though it's a fiddly build, she is enjoying it
  14. Available at Lego stores in the uk at least since yesterday (1st June)
  15. I'd save about £40 buying town hall and pet shop, but on second thoughts London will be crazy busy on Sunday so I'll sit this one out I think
  16. Damn, just bought the camel today, and R2 last week. Already have a fair backlog but might be tempted by a town hall and/or a second pet shop Do you need any kind of accreditation, or just being a grown-up is enough? And would it be bad form to return my unopened camel and instantly rebut one with the discount .
  17. Nice review, thanks. UK gets the short end of the stick with pricing for some reason. $35/€35 isn't unusual, but £35? It'll actually be cheaper to imprt from Europe for once. Lower prices would have encouraged people to buy more than one, and build their own worlds like the game does. But the high price makes that difficult to justify. You mention about the overhanging 1x2 plates - I think they'd be fine in a normal build. R2D2 has pieces just slid in, not connected at all.
  18. Even oucher - £35 in the Westfield Lego store. Still bought one as I'm a big minecraft fan as are my kids. But at that price no way am I buying multiple sets to play with. 448 mostly 1x1 plates for that price is nuts. £1:$1 isn't fun. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with cuusoo - Lego thinking they can overprice things as they'll be 'collectable' Are any of the pieces particularly rare? Might consider bricklinking another 3 sets worth, not including the custom microfigures
  19. If lego are comfortable with three modulars in stock, then perhaps they don't feel the need to remove it from sale until the next one is ready?
  20. I don't think it'll be a modular, but I do think it'll be modular scale. Lego have been very smart recently - even their friends, city and creator sets are starting to have 'modular' elements, letting you remove floors and/or rearrange them in different layouts. So fingers crossed they realise that some will buy the haunted house to go in a modular town so the scale will need to work. I think it'll work better standalone anyway, its the perfect 'that scary house that the crazy old woman who might be a witch lives in' that many of us had in our towns and our imaginations exaggerated as kids.
  21. Thanks. It was from Italy to the uk. Will contact them tomorrow if I've not heard anything
  22. How long is reasonable to wait before an order is shipped? I ordered an item on Sunday, got the invoice and paid the same day, but still haven't had a shipping notice. Three other orders from Sunday have all shipped (two have arrived already)
  23. I think I just got the roof pieces and the white window frames from Lego online PAB, the rest were all bricklink. The windows were a little frustrating as the new one have a little edge to them which makes the openings a little small the way they are used in cafe corner. Also, if money isn't too much of an issue, consider getting printed instructions, the PDF is abysmal.
  24. Apparently this will go on sale at Lego stores in the UK from Friday, alongside the sopwith camel. Not sure if that means European Lego stores will get them on friday too. £30 though, ouch. I think that blows any idea I had of multiple sets to experiment with
  25. Is there a thread on here?
