Could you use a tea chest or other stiff/wooden crate if you're concerned about crush damage? Should be fine with a decent cardboard box though Not sure about that. Might make the movers think its not fragile. And movers aren't going to be thinking 'oh I wonder if this box has several desirable MISB sets', they are more likely to be thinking 'oh, Lego' If anything, I'd mark it crockery or similar so they won't pile a ton of boxes on top

Lego store Westfield had the PotC video games on clearance - I got the 3DS version for £3.99 They also had a couple of the education sets with nice reductions. eg the fairy tales one (9349) was I think 19.99

Doesn't it say there are two apps now?
-
Was in my local Lego store, and noticed they have a new box for life of George, and I think a new number - 21201 compared to 21200 before. I also shows two apps - life of George and 'build your brain' or similar. Anyone seen this and know anything about the new app - cant find anything on the app store. And is there any difference in the set? If its the same mat and bricks, why change the set number?

I'd go for the QAR. It's a very nice standalone display piece, is very playable, and can form the basis for redesigns into other types of ship

Latest set looks nice, but I'd like to know how legondecides on scales. Some of these modernist places get relatively high piece counts and prices, yet are fairly niche, yet iconic buildings like big ben get odd little models and not even a decent clock face

This is for UK retail deals, not personal sales. You have to start a new thread in here for that (which you can't with only 2 posts)

I use two trays. The first just sits there, and with the other, I cut out the individual little containers. Then little random pieces go in those tubs, and the tubs sit in the first tray to keep them in place. That way I can just pull a little tub out and put it back again - makes getting the tiny pieces out a little easier.

thats a great video. Did it ever make it down that hill? I was rooting for it :) with separate drive motors I wonder if it would have been useful to control them separately, then you could have braked/not driven the back wheels which might have helped with the descent. Do you think you'll be leaving it like that - is the lack of steering outweighed by better traction when you lose the diffs? Do you think the power puller tyres make a big difference? I don't have them so I'm wondering if I should get hold of them before 9398 is available to buy here in the UK. I know that on my RC crawlers weighted tyres help but I also realise there needs to be compromise with a lego version.

Already have one, but tempted to get a second for parts. Ordered the maersk from there a while back. Wonder what it is with amazon Italy/Spain and cheap Lego exclusives?

For the triforce, have you considered using cheese slopes on their side? There was a modular building on cuusoo recently that used that technique to get hexagonal floor tiles, might be worth taking a look?

Always interesting to read these interviews. One question though. In this part - - is there supposed to be a link to a Flickr account? Just curious because it's always good to have more sources

[REVIEW] 9398 - Rock Crawler
mrklaw replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Blue water Lego store couldn't be specific, but they did say a lot of new sets were scheduled for sale on August 1st. We've been waiting for seaside house and other creator sets too. -
I grabbed the Big Ben architecture set when it went on sale in the UK, but was always unhappy with the clock face sticking out so much. My first step was to buy another set for parts and make Big Ben four studs wide. This lets the clock face be more flush, but also is a better shape generally I think - the double grilles more accurately matches the real tower. After that, I wanted to extend it out a bit, at least to the little towers by the River Thames. So I did. Hope you like it, its my first submission here I'm quite happy with this, but the clock face (with a second hand) is still niggling, so I'm going to try to make a custom tan tile with a graphic someone in the custom forum kindly provided.

Do you think 9398 could handle a little weight in the wheels? Great thread though, I was thinking its a shame that Lego do a cute crawler but have rock hard tyres, good to hear there are alternatives. DLuders, your plumped vs non-plumped,nthose are the same tyres tight? You're just talking about how mounting them differently changes their appearance?

That's a crap response, and the same that they sent to me. They day they are matching the euro price, but forget to mention that the euro price was €150 before they raised that too - naughty. Still want, but will hold out for at least double VIP points or a 10% off voucher. Not likely to be discounted as it'll be exclusive to Lego stores so amazon won't save us. To the guy who got it from LDC, how well does it sit alongside modulars? Eg as an 'end of the street spooky house'?

Considering that is a castle torso, I think it represents fairly well what we'd expect to see in a period drama set around that time - heavy duty corsets etc. Likewise, I don't see much 'hourglass' going on with female torsos. There is usually a bit of shape applied, but women are a different shape to men so that seems reasonable. Most torsos don't go overboard with it.

Why are there spare parts in the sets?
mrklaw replied to benredstar's topic in General LEGO Discussion
isn't 'most of the time' the key phrase here? The spare parts are usually all there, but occasionally they might not be, so Lego errs on the side of caution. Better a spare flipper be not included in a box, than a needed one.
