  1. Banks and police stations tend often to be in the same kinds of older, more imposing buildings, like the fire brigade or town hall. So personally I'd like something with a different style. So far I've not been disappointed in anything Jamie Berard has been involved in, and the exclusives/creator lines are having quite a renaissance IMO. So bring it on, whatever it is.
  2. I think I'd be happy to leave home permanently three-legged if it meant adding PF to him. I'd probably be happy to lose his toys too. I wonder if Lego is experimenting with this set. All the colours or the internals, plus having so many bag numbers makes each 'stage' pretty short. Maybe they are giving you the option of an easy build (one bag at a trimester), medium (mix up a couple of bags), or hard (all in one bucket)
  3. Pet Shop. Reason is she's 8 and it has two buildings, so each building is a slightly less complex build, there are lots of neat features in the Pet Shop half to support play, and its cute. Second would be the Fire Brigade as it has some nice furniture on the 2nd floor. Never mind what is out of print first, she's saved up and you should focus on which she'd enjoy more. If you think she might collect more than one, then secretly buy Fire brigade and hide it until she's ready for another.
  4. is there an ETA for this? Local lego store (UK) hadn't heard of new creator sets yet. I was kind of hoping they'd be available along with the Sopwith Camel this Friday, to save me multiple trips, but no sign yet.
  5. With the introduction of the servo motor, Id like to see PF switches and maybe a PF level crossing.
  6. I think Jamie mentioned in a recent interview that he isn't a good cook, when asked about the next modular. Maybe that suggests a restaurant or similar?
  7. And hopefully the continent where both Lego and minecraft were born... I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Shouldn't be a surprise that the US gets it first, even if the sets were produced in Europe (don't know if they were, just guessing)
  8. Lego chassis 8860. Got it for Christmas when it first came out (I think I was maybe 10-11) and it blew me away. It was huge and imposing, and so real. Moving engine, working gearbox, adjustable seats. It was like one of those exploded drawings in a reference book made real. All my Lego ended up being sold or donated when I got older, and 8860 is the only set I went back and bought from eBay to have again in my collection.
  9. Same here. There are odd sets I miss not having, but not really entire themes. Pretty much just green grocer modular, emerald night, and then a few UCS SW sets (falcon, star destroyer and snow speeder). Otherwise I'm massively happy with current sets. My younger self would have thought he'd died and gone to heaven to see sets like shuttle expedition and VW camper
  10. How about a white light brick through a trams blue brick? Or PF lights
  11. And you'd have a lot or spacemen. Almost think it would have been better to have rotations of this with different minifigs, or even package it along with a bagged CMF eg from series 8
  12. Bought the last one in the London Westfield store. I really wanted two to explore alterations, but one will have to do for a while. A nice gentle build, but the clock face is ugly.
  13. Thanks, that's reassured me.
  14. Huge bump, sorry. But can I please ask for a bag count check? I just bought this set and it has 'opens for examination' stickers on it. It might have been a customer return. All bags are sealed but I want to make sure I have them all. The review states 3x bag 3, and 2x bag 6, but I only have 2x bag 3, and 1x bag 6. Can someone confirm how many bags there should be?
  15. Yesterday - R2D2 from the Lego store (they only had one left, not expecting any more until next weekend) Today the Millenium Falcon, bought mostly with vouchers so only 'cost' me £10
  16. Going to do a bit of each. I don't have space to have a layout up permanently, but I will want the train on display when it's not running. Thanks for the measurements.
  17. Hi, Just bought the maersk as my first train and have almost no track ( I have one set of 7499 which I use for a tram in our town layout). I also ordered some PF kit from bricklink to power it. I can't seem to find any curved track on Lego.com - is it all flexible track nowadays? Also bricklink seems expensive for straight RC track, so it seems cheaper to just buy a few packs of 7499. How would you recommend getting a very basic layout started - just an oval would be ok to start with. The flexible track in 7499 doesn't seem to even make a 90 degree turn so it'd take lots to make an oval.
  18. Finally jumped in. Amazon Italy had it discounted to 84 euro so couldn't resist. Also ordered some PF items from bricklink (basic battery box, transmitter and train motor). I already have a few IR receivers from my technic sets. Can someone tell me how many studs long the train is when built? I'd like to display it on a section of track on a shelf and I need to know how much to order. Thanks :)
  19. Bought the heartlake cafe in the end, at the Lego store while also accidentally falling in love with R2D2 which I didn't expect. Think I'll go for the MF, been putting it off for ages. Thanks.
  20. Thanks. I'll reserve some space on my shelf now ;)
  21. love it and supported it on cuusoo. Although it'd be a very expensive model, I think its a classic piece of engineering history, so would sit well as a high end model like Tower Bridge. you mention using pieces that Lego don't make yet - could you elaborate? Do you mean just colours that they don't yet have, or entirely new elements you invented :D How about rigging or fencing for the front and rear?
  22. gorgeous. I'd perhaps prefer a brushed aluminium/chrome like on the Sopwith Camel over the shiny shiny chrome, but its a beautifully modelled plane. If this were a real set I'd buy this over the Sopwith Camel in a blink How many pieces does it use, and how long/wide is it? want to get a feel for likely costs if lego made it as-is
  23. Thanks. Do I need a new account for that? It's £110 at Argos and I have £100 in vouchers but £93 is tempting. (and then I can buy the Quinjet from Argos :p )
  24. Avengers Quinjet + Friends Heartlake Vet or Millenium Falcon? Both come to about £110 at argos, and I have £100 vouchers so both are effectively free to me. Was thinking of the vet for my daughters 8th birthday, she's asked for friends stuff anyway. The MF is always at the edge of my mind but always misses out for some reason - perhaps secretly I want the UCS but know its out of reach at the moment. Its discounted (again) at both argos and amazon UK (£110 and £100 respectively)
  25. millenium falcon at £99 again at amazon UK. I keep skipping it but one of these days..
