  1. Another sweet ride 'solta'! I don't know how I missed titles with words like "Ferrari". It looks like it's based off a 512 or a 308, but with a rounded front clip. What model was your inspiration? Keep those great cars coming
  2. My first motorcycle, 2000 GSX-R600 and one of my favorite mtn. bike. 2002 Enduro FSR. I bought the GSX-R 4 years ago, non running and fixed it just for it's matching color , cheap price and because I wanted a 4 cyl. Now looking at a 2012 Ninja 1000. Can't wait for the riding season
  3. There are many topics like this. More recently THIS or THIS. Maybe a Mod can merge them into one main one. Perhaps retitling it into Resale of Discontinued Sets or something that generally encompasses other years, etc
  4. Sorry I should have been more specific. To save plates while "sandwiching", mine ended up like the photo below. That is what I meant, effective, but messy
  5. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, from the bottom side, but it is the most effective if you don't want to use additional pillars. I used it on a recent MOC with 3 large roof sections
  6. I was looking through the past few years of city sets on Brickset to see what sets were dicontinued. I got to 2011, didn't expect to see any mainline sets gone. I was surprised to see 7287 Police Boat and 7285 Police Dog Unit gone. I can understand with the release of the forest police line, but what really struck me was 4643 Power Boat Transporter is also gone! It only had a 8 month run while the others covered about a year. Anyone have an idea why? Low sales; high manufacture price?
  7. 7734 Cargo Plane for $50, 6339 Shuttle Launch Pad for $15() and a couple BL orders for replacement sticker parts for 6339. All in all some crazy good deals on eBay
  8. Great job 'TKOB'! It looks spot on. I love classic Rovers, and have thought about building a SWB 90. Keep up the great builds
  9. Great review 'harmacy'! It's great you got this set MISB for a good price, can't imagine what you paid. It took a while, but I finally got a used one last month, just in a condition where it needed some TLC. The only things I didn't like about the set are the base plates. They were fine for the period, but to narrow for my preference
  10. That is quite impressive and congrats to him and his team for making the news... Again! . An ambitious build; 200,000 "bits" bricks in only 3 of 15 buildings! Still has a long way to go. I hope you keep us posted on it's progression
  11. Fantastic job 'dtm11'. The stickers came out great and the horizontal pumps are a really nice. It's a great feature to have, I decided to make the entrance to my car dealer offset as well. I love the exterior brick work and using the 'Octan' colors. Much better looking than Exxon or 7/11. Keep up the great builds
  12. Happy Birthday mate!

  13. Don't forget 'Admiral Rodgers'! Happy Birthday guys, hope it's one to remember
  14. I'm pretty close minded when it comes to set themes. I like realistic (Wild West, Pirates, Ninja, etc) but, only seriously collect City and a few from others that relate. I love the 90's, I grew up collecting the 90's. It was sets that I missed during them that got me out of my "dark age". Coincidentally, it was Town Jr, World City (... and a new interest: girls), that put me in one. With finding Lego on eBay, recent sets from TLG have been getting better and better. I am so glad of their shift from Classic City, the new ones are a great replacement. While TLG has made their mistakes, we all can agree, there are still many other things I too have to disagree with in regards to. Most or all have been mentioned and, like others have said, 'davee123' put it into detail. Well put, my friend. What stuck out the most was about the "throwaway" movies... SW, HP, and the other "throwaways", and their video games. They were and are hugely profitable and really helped TLG jump back from near bankruptcy some years back. In a declining economy, TLG is revenue is up almost 20% as of '08 and profits even more (Harvard Business Review, Sept. '09). Not only that, most are still really great. If I wasn't such a nut about city, they would be on my wanted list and I'm not even close to a diehard fan! IMHO, the love of Lego stems from the era you grew up in, but is continued by current and recent sets Perhaps, though I would be very intimidated of jumping back in if public was in general disagree. But thats just me
  15. Great MOC 'Steinkopf'. Love the details, it looks so much like the photo. With all the train sets TLG has designed and released that ran off pantographs, I'm surprised they never released one. I know I'd have one! Great job on it and on those parts of the layout you built
  16. An excellent ship indeed! I love how big this is, absolutely dwarfing the IF and QAR! Everything about this screams "make me a legit set". Great job on this lengthy design and build
  17. These are wonderful creations! He did an excellent job, I love the detailed interior. There are many nice furnishings, he does wonderful work
  18. I like it and thought the sign was quite funny and accurate. You can't beat Walmart prices on meat, but for a little extra you get better quality meat. Anyway great MOC 'Vestabuyer'
  19. After finally loading the last of the photos to Brickshelf, here is the most recent view of the lot. A revised, larger entrance (waiting on a clear door) and an entire shift of the building, to the left side of the baseplates. I, unfortunately, have to leave part of it untiled to save weight. I plan to switch the black plate for a dark gray. The car lift: With the length of those technic axles, I could go up another floor. For now, I am going to stick with the two. The repair bay. It can accommodate a taller car, more so when the garage door is down. Next on the list is finish the floors, garage, outer lot, and to make sure there are no gaps in between bricks... I never seem to see them until I get them on my computer Until next time, thanks for looking
  20. Thanks 'rriggs', I would say you helped in a big way! I finished editing more of my photos from last week, so here is a more recent views of the build. To maximize show room space it is a multilevel showroom More to come! Thanks for looking
  21. I'd use the red haired guy with the orange stripes. Too bad it's not blue with white stripes. It's a clean, but he has a professional look to him. Reminds me of the mechanics at my local Sears Auto
  22. Thanks 'lt'. Red is an odd color to have for the baseplate, but I will have it completely covered by the builds end. I think it's MegaB****ks or something worse. So it needs to be hidden. As for the cars on display; I'm not sure if I want modern or classics. I was thinking about those 911's I have so many of. More will fit inside, obviously, but I could go either way. Depending on how fast the fly outa there
  23. Good lookin', 'lt'. It hit me right after I posted. I'm glad I got to see some other pics of some future sets. Reading back, about that glider being "promotional", is that serious. It looks pretty neat and I haven't seen one since this guy: 2147 Dragon Fly I really hope it won't be too difficult to acquire
  24. Over the past year I have toyed with the idea of building a cardealership. I started some time last October or November with a small lot and trailer for a group of Smart Cars I built. I abandoned that project wanting something a much bigger. Apart from that, I did not want a bunch of bluish grey tiles or plates over a green baseplate ( those are like gold, as I don't have many right now). I received two big, rectangular, red, baseplates with a small lot of road plates. They are non-Lego, so they will work perfectly instead of just pitching them. Inspiration can be credited to 'riggs' for his awesome dealership! I started collecting pieces last month and began building at the end of January. Here is the progression of the construction of my biggest MOC to date: The beginning of Prestige Auto Note: This is a work in progress and will be going under many renovations for the build. I have a pretty good idea of what I want it to look like, but have to build it trial by error The Floor Plan: Size comparison to modern car... A is lot of RED to cover up Building the show room: The garage bay and car ramp and office: Showroom Exterior: One little problem... I forgot an entrance for potential buyers. I ditched the office (temporarily). Here is the first attempt of the entrance: This is all for now, I hope you stay tuned. There is much, much, more to come! As always questions and comments welcomed -LGG
  25. I have read in the short past about a new garage coming. That one looks legit to me. I really hope it is!
