I like dark tan very much! Blue in general - medium blue for buildings - the rest is water all kinds of green for foliage I prefer the dark red color to the bright red one both greys are good for mountain sloping and castle building so its kinda difficult to say which is my favorite some are excellent for specific purposes, I wouldnt know how to use certain other colors - dont like yellow castles for example or the early pirate builds that had yellow bricks

REVIEW: 70751 Templeof Airjitsu
CaptainToad replied to The Fezter's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I guess the difference is that consumers understand that licenced sets need to be more expensive as there is a licencence involved that needs to be paid. Non-licenced sets are known to be cheaper (think about some of the creator sets - tower bridge with about 4000 parts is comparably cheap) and I guess thats the main reason why people complain. Personally I, too, think this set is overpriced with about the same number (or less) than the detectives office it is much more expensive. Maybe the price for lego is going up in general - wouldnt be surprised. As far as the agents and ninjago city sets are concerned - OK, true, but these are much smaller sets and people expect to pay a little less money per piece when they buy bigger sets. When I first saw the pics online I knew I wanted this set and ordered it on day one - no matter if its overpriced or not - I kinda struggled though - if it had been modestly priced like the modulars it would have been a no-brainer to me.. The other thing is that I will need to buy it a second time in the long run (probaby) as I want the temple to be closed and not half open :( - hopefully they will put it on sale or offer double vip points. Still, its an amazing build!!! Cant wait to build it myself and create a diorama afterwards -
the build is awesome - pardon my laymans critisizm -but the rest of the street is brimming with life - crowded - but this villa looks as if it was meant to be positioned in a quiet neighborhood - still awesome stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The point when you have enough Lego?
CaptainToad replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
lol - I know those problems as well. I actually had a good sorting system until some containers began to fill up - dark and light grey elements - so now I have a container solely for 73degree dark gree sloping element - which is 80% full and one of those compartment boxes for all other grey sloping elements - almost full, and two containers for dark and light grey bricks - one is alomst full, the other half full (or half empty). I havent found a solution yet to this problem but I know the day will come to come up with another strategy. Funny thing btw, this week my mother offered me her help in restoring a room in our house so that I could put my lego there :) - of course I agreed but didnt want to start right away - this one will require some careful planning as to best make use of the room and especially chosing the proper furniture will require some time - she even offered to sponsor some furniture - didnt expect such a support - exactly! the stuff that you buy must bring in something new, something useful, Could never understand people who didnt open up their sets - maybe my collection isnt big enough for that (its actually not too big) - there was never a set that didnt open up within a week - even those that I bought purely for the sake of gathering parts -

exactly, the more you own the more of a probem it can become - storage is just another problem. therefore elements/sets should be chosen wisely - unuseful lego needs storage as well -
The point when you have enough Lego?
CaptainToad replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I dont think there is a point where you have enough lego - enough is a relative term by the way However, I think there are points where you become more and more picky in regard to whay you buy generally I tend to do more planning before I buy things - making decisions what may be useful and what not. Because of that I decided that the scooby sets might actually be a waste of money - the rather expensive arjitzu temple would be more fitting (I might even buy it a second time, will see...) I also like to take it slow - I bought a lot of sloping elements recently - the more sloping elements you have the bigger a mountain or cliffside you can build, so whenever I place a pab or bap order I tend to order at least a couple more of those elements, same goes with foliage, when you own a couple of hundreds of leaves you can build lots of trees, so there is no need to rush it and buy a couple of hundreds more, just a couple every time I place an order. It also depends on what you are planning, at first I wanted to build a dark/light bluish grey mountain, so that was my focus, after I bought the lone ranger silver mine I thought about a tan mountain - so I try to buy a couple of those elements every now and then. -
S@H does it always take that long?
CaptainToad replied to CaptainToad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
true! bap orders come from Denmark true my set actually shipped today... like i said pab or bap order deays are understandabe but sets should ship quicker - normally I wouldnt be that impatient - but the upcoming weekend is sort of special to me (lots of free time...), well, there it went... Well, I live in Poland - shipping is always via DHL - the package has shipped in the meantime - still I am a little bit disappointed - I mean what can be so difficult to put a set in a box and print a label and stick it onto box... I even feel kinda bad to be so impatient - I ordered the Arjitzu temple - if I dont get it by tomorrow (which I wont) I will get it on Monday - and its usually the weekends that I have enough time to sit down a couple of hours and build something -

great :( -
I think lego has either run out of ideas for the winter village - or maybe the designers needed more time to come up with something meaningful and so they decided to easily fill the gap with just minor enhancements of an older set.

On thuesday I ordered my first set from S@H. Prior to that I only ordered pab and bap bags - and I understand that getting all those small pieces together might take some time and there is probably a waiting line. This time, however, I ordered a set and it appears that they still havent sent it yet. Does it always take that long? I kinda hoped to get it before the weekend... I mean, whats the difficulty? Its just a set that need to be put into a cardboard box and get an address attached to it.

cable based trees - advise needed
CaptainToad replied to CaptainToad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks! THe video inspired me to try it out... I ordered three of the smaller ones to check it out. Wouldnt want to cut it as they seem to be available only in those two sizes and cutting the longer one would result in having two which are shorter than the shorter one :) -
Lego Ninjago 2016
CaptainToad replied to LegendsOfNinjago's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
now that I have ordered my first ninjago set (70751) I became sort of interested in this theme - hopefully they release similar sets in the future, containing some nice asian buildings without vehicles that is, -
Of course I signed in with my VIP account. :) They must have put it online somewhere around 11 a.m. cause when I checked a couple of minutes after 11 it was there :) - so I finally ordered my first ninjago set ever!!! :) I was sold on the buildings the minute I saw the first pics...

I hope they re-release the kingdom sets one day

did anyone try to buy the arjitzu temple? I think I read somewhere that early access was to start august 18th. when i chech s@h it says 1. september????

:) imho all lego sets are abstract versions of something - lets face it lego is primarily designed for children. As for me I buy sets either for the minifigs or the parts - There is only a couple of sets like the modulars that seem complete and adult oriented. Just btw, I am thinking about that arjitzu temple - even though I sort of dislike ninjago, ithink this set is kinda cool, nice build! and the minifigures could pass for regular ninjas :)

ok... this moc inspired me - -
I was thinking about building some easy trees with lego 'cables' theres basically two options: OUTER CABLE 128MM (6047159); OUTER CABLE 224MM (6040310) I think the smaller one might be more natural if you put it next to an arch based tree that might have roughly the height of the longer cable what do you guys think?

Indeed, I would have liked to build a small blue coat army but as it seems I will give it a pass. The sets are IMHO worth buying only once as there are only few soldiers in each set, morever the sets are kinda unique in regard to mimifigs - I mean how many pirate prinesses or admirals do you need? :) I was thinking about the chess set as a battle pack - but the soldiers wear mostly wigs... So I will just give it a pass... and wait a couple of years until new stuff comes out I agree with the ship - definitely not worth it - as far as the sets, I think they were not that bad - but they werent good either... still I liked them for the minifigs and the pirates flair

70751 Temple of Airjitzu
CaptainToad replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I was never a fan of ninjago - to be honest. Recently I was struggling with the idea of buying those scooby doo sets - but somehow I decided against it. Today I have made a decision to buy the temple of arjitzu -

Lego themes that we would like to happen
CaptainToad replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Something that I just thought about - that I see potential in is the Jungle Book - disney is bringing out a new life action version of the movie and since lego and disney have worked together in the past this one would actually be somewhat likely - hopefully they will do it with lots of new jungle foliage elements and animals...- 451 replies

what would it take to cut out LEGO from your life?
CaptainToad replied to legoman19892's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I dont see a reason for that! :) On the other hand occasional dark ages are acceptable IMHO - like when there isnt anything new coming out that might interest you. I am afraid next year might be like that - I had high hopes that the next big bang castle theme will be awesome and long running - now it might be just long running :) so when there wont be any interesting sets I might take a break and save the money - I believe there will be some interesting sets/themes sooner or later that will bring me back. Selling my lego is not an option at all - I dont view lego as a kidys toy (even though it is) - I rather view it as a creative building tool that lets me experiment and occasionally create something nice - its like older people doing crosswords in order to keep their mind up and running :). -
tree building with 6052759 Arch 1X12X3
CaptainToad replied to CaptainToad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I use half arches all the time - and I thought this arch might be come in handy to give trees a more distinct and unique look - will have to try it out - maybe its no good but still I thought someone might have had the same idea a long time ago and could give me some insight. thanks for the tip with the lianes - actually I must say I wouldnt know how to use these to build a weeping willow... :) -
tree building with 6052759 Arch 1X12X3
CaptainToad replied to CaptainToad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I wanted to use it just as it is! :) and put a lot of leaves onto it :) The thing is, I was looking out of my balcony these days, and there is a tree - a very big one - and the branches on one side are really long, while the branches on the other side are rather short - sun exposure I guess, so I thought about designing a tree with regular branches on one side and maybe two longer branches on the other... I guess I will order two of those pieces in the weeks to come and do some tests - I will post the results...
