  1. The Imperials have set up a small trading post in the inlet waterways of one of the Caribbean Islands. Governor Broadside has heard that the notorious pirate, Redbeard, has escaped once again and with his new ship, the Brick Bounty, is terrorising merchant ships on the high seas. I will add that viewers should click on the photo thumbnail to open a larger photo. The small port offers refuge for traders and the Blue Coats. It also serves as a merchant trading post in the area. Broadside and Admiral Woodhouse discuss matters of maritime security over a glass of expensive imported wine. Woodhouse has been sent down by the Admiralty to deal with Broadsides concerns. Trade through this port involves Rum as well as Sugar Cane from the inland plantations. (Something which remains controversial) The lapping waves ripple into the port...poetic Broadside's steward, Carlos, waits patiently to pour more wine for the Governor and his esteemed guest. The Blue-Coats unpack the munitions and trading goods; much of which will be eventually loaded onto the Flagship which is anchored out in the Bay. Camille, the Governors daughter, watches out with excitement. She has only just arrived in the Caribbean and it is a far shout from the hustle and bustle of the European cities. Watching over her, at her fathers request, is Lieutenant de Martinet. Having been arrested during sinking of his Bounty, Captain Brickbeard has been languishing in prison ever since. He has however heard through the frequent traders, that his former mentor, Captain Redbeard has returned with the Brick Bounty. The local tavern, the Captains Daughter, hosts a collection of ales, rums and other spirits. The landlady, a spiritualist, often has to bar and ban unruly merchants and would be pirates. Although she feels much happier knowing the blue coats are around ready to maintain order. That being said sometimes the odd card game ends in violence.... However, schemes are afoot. After several years in retirement (during the tenure of Captain Brickbeard), Redbeard is rumoured to be back. His trusted first mate, Rumney, awaits further news that his old Captain is returning. Deep down Rumney longs to return to sea as a pirate...... But until such time when the Brick Bounty appears off the coast, the tenants of the port enjoy their care free lifestyle....
  2. Morning, Does anyone know of anywhere within the UK that I would be able to acquire the rare Pirate with brown best minifigure? Or does anyone know of a good place to start looking. I've tried ebay to no avail.
  3. I am quite disappointed that the lego ideas didn't pass the jurassic park set. I was really hoping that it would kick start a new line.
  4. I am very shocked that the set didn't pass the review. I was banking in that
  5. I will definately need to get that UCS set. I wonder what it will be? A large pirate ship? I would want one to finally rival the Imperial Flagship. Mind you then I would also like an even larger Imperial flagship! Or.....perhaps a large fortress? Or perhaps even an island? I am excited
  6. I have made a start to my Fleet. I am going for Oleon. I also have the Brick Bounty primed as a 'captured' prize. My Impeial flagship is primed, armed with a full compliment of Blue coats and cannons
  7. I agree. I also managed to source two more cannons. I think it looks better, much better. I do wonder why LEGO does not fully arm up its ships though? Especially with the Brick bounty, it actually looks like there are parts missing with the single stud piece empty on two of the cannon placements.
  8. I remember being a big fan of Playmobil. The details within it I think is fantastic, although I never had any of the pirate sets as a child. I remember utilising the bus and the airplane as a kid to recreate scenes from jurassic park... But that's off topic, I must confess I am a lego fanatic (but I do have a secret affection for playmobil. I had more of it as a kid than lego. That's for sure.)
  9. I have just had to buy 60 more round 1x1 bricks for the cannons!! For the ships and my fort
  10. Just had a read of these rules and this should very good fun. I am going to be trying this game out next weekend
  11. Interestingly mine came with no hull flaw but the wrong head. I have to admit I love this ship and rate it higher than the previous incarnation of the bounty. Despite this I haven't finished it yet, as I am waiting to get down to the seaside house to complete it in the authentic surroundings. Lol. And also to put it display with the rest of my lego pirates collections
  12. I, like you, love the new line. It is a fitting line in its own right, as well as being a nice tribute. (Redbeard and the blue coats). I think redbeard, will be the greatest lego captain EVER. And this new guy I see as the same guy, just updated.
  13. Whilst I voted red coats, I am torn. I have found a new love for the blues following this latest release. So......I betrayed the reds and deleted my original vote in favour of the blues
  14. Oddly, (characters and look aside) I always took inspiration as a kid from Muppets Treasure island. Always thought the theme, the songs, the comedy and the story fitted in Perfectly with lego pirates. Stevenson mixed with jim Henson!
  15. Cheers for the reply, I'll take a look at that that thread. One thing I also enjoy was reading the short descriptions of characters on the lego page. Edit I am thinking of writing a series of biographies for each main character within the Pirates Theme. Including, Woodhouse, Broadside, Redbeard, Black Jack Hawkins, Flashfork, Rumney, Will, Brickbeard, De Martinet, and others.
  16. Haha. Good point, each time they put out to sea..... However I would like to know what ever happened to Ironhook and Redbeard (during his absence) which might make for an interesting story. I sneered that Ironhook was taken prisoner by the islanders.
  17. I was fairly late to Lego pirates, and to that end I am a fan of the red coats. However with the new line out, I have found a new found love of the blue coats. Despite my naivety to the line, perhaps this is still a bit of nostalgia. I never managed to get any of the Armada line
  18. Recently picked up four for my imperial flagship! Now she is fully armed and operational Also just sourced two more for my Brick Bounty, I had to make sure the Flagship had eight so as to remain the power in my shelf....I mean my seas.
  19. Hello, I am an avid pirate lego collector and now I am hoping to get my kid into them too! Just a question, does anyone else come up with story ideas for their kids involving Lego Pirates. I am thinking of starting a thread in here with a 'build as we go' story. Starting with an intro and allowing members to add to the story as we go. Would this be a project anyone else would be interested in?
  20. 2015 for me
  21. They don't have much luck do they!
