LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Redbeards_Rum replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I really am looking forward to the battle of takadona. Oddly, I don't usually go in for these location sets like this HOWEVER I think it is the near complete feel to this that appeals to me. Granted it doesn't have Rey, Han or Chewie, or Bb8 BUT I just feel it is a complete scene in itself, in lego terms and concludes a scene far better than the Carbonite chamber set, which I feel doesn't do the scene justice with regards to the minifigures. I am very eager for this set, and am constantly checking the UK Lego store page to see whether it is up there yet. COME ON LEGO! -
Well, I have pre ordered the Battle of Takodana. Which I am intending on displaying with the First order Transporter. Ultimately I intend to have a diorama depicting the transporter landing, unloading storm troopers with the essex blue of characters (no spoilers here) fighting against them.
-
I do like this set, although I would have liked to have seen a new Lando in this. I have displayed this with darth vader, two stormtrooper a, Lando and a bespin guard. In order to enable the full effect. I was going to include leia, chewbacca however it would result in it being far too cluttered.

That's how I took it. Mind you, and I know I will be seen as a complete anorak here but even with our warfare in the 21st century, the number of fighter/bomber variants have reduced with each airframe being utilised in multiple roles. So it is possible that the x wing has taken on multi role. But I also believe, as you say, that the republic fleet probably had multiple air frames but the resistance, listed as a private enterprise, was more single frame. But, now having seen the movie, I will add that I am very happy with the lego sets. Especially given that we have the next lot coming in January. I even think the first order battle pack can double as a starkiller battle

I think the first order transporter is a great set. Yes, it is not to scale, and I would prefer (as an adult) it to be larger BUT considering that these are aimed at the 8-14 bracket, it is pretty good. I like it, and now I've seen the film, I like it even more. I now really want the battle of takodana set and will display this alongside the first order transporter

Thank you, done deal. Everyone I've spoken to has good things to say about the transporter

15% off on amazon.co.uk right now

It does feel good value. On amazon there is £12 off right now!

Which reminds me, I did see the new Star Destroyer and I am convinced that I CANNOT see a bridge tower.....perhaps they have learnt their lessons from Endor!
-
If one can only one buy, would you say go for this or save for the Transporter?
-
We need an Admiral Ozzel minifigure.

I really like the look of this vehicle, and the FO troopers look amazing. However due to the price of a wife and kids (for whom I am buying other Lego items...), I've had to pass this FO Transporter as an idea for Christmas.....so I am hoping, praying even, that someone picks up on my ideas list.

This is fantastic! I can just hear "Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life for me" playing in the background.

Thank you. I've always liked the idea of having some 'normality' (if you can call it that) in the Pirates Theme. Some merchants etc. I am going to be extending this over the next month or so (When I can get home.....away with work AGAIN!!! For about six weeks!) I want to add on a squat brick building with windows which will serve as the tavern. The Outpost (Tavern at the moment) will go back to being an outpost on the fringes of the fort.

This i a very impressive set. (And something I wanted to do.....but you beat me to it!) I love the build, love the story, love the fun. This is exactly what LEGO PIRATES should be about. Classic fun with a classic look. I'd go for plenty of trading equipment (British Trade etc.....I've used plenty of crates with bottles (rum), carrot tops (Sugar cane) in) Also have a lot of senior people in the Judges Style wig. That would do for that! And another one, if somehow you could find something to resemble a teapot etc...

I wa hoping with the rumoured Castle 2016 line, we might see a return to the Pirates in 2017. What I feel would be good is if they brought in the Red-Coats/Armada and Islanders into the next big theme. I always feel that the Pirate theme up until 2009 was a continuation of a story. Redbeard replaced by Brickbeard, the Blues replaced by the Reds and the introduction of the Armada. But i saw this latest wave as a revamp, taking us back to the beginning. I'd quite like to see this rehash taking us onwards now. To modernise, NOT REPLACE, but modernise the other older factions

New LEGO Pirate Floor Game. Acatually use your creations!
Redbeards_Rum replied to gatorzip02's topic in LEGO Pirates
This is fantastic. I will try this with a pirates film on tv and a glass of rum -
I would hope so. But I doubt it. I'm not sure how well the Pirate theme sold this time around. I reckon AFOLs brought them but not so sure about the target audience. I certainly want there to be an official Blue Coat Ship. Something to act as an escort for the Imperial Flagship. Perhaps a cutter or something. I'd also love to see far more generic 'Pirate' sets. Such as Trading Vessels. I know they probably won't sell too well with the target audience but you could always sell it as 'Pirate Raiders' Have a traders vessels with a Pirate rowing boat attacking it in the same fashion that the Blue Coats were boarding the Brick Bounty. Pirate Raid Set. Medium sized. Trading Cutter. 3x Merchant Sailors. 2 x Pirates in a rowing boat and armed to the teeth. To include plenty of crates and perhaps a play feature net for the crates.

Share Improvements on Original Sets to 'Complete' Them

I will get some photos done over the next few days. (I'm away with work.) But glad people want to see this. What I do enjoy about this hobby is that people are always intrigued. Even those with no interest in Lego, people love the details in Lego sets. Which is partially why I add so many details. I am, and some AFOLs will shudder here, intending to share and play with my son when he is old enough to do so. Which is partially why I am increasing the cannon count, as well as adding crates full of cannon ball pieces. What I eventually intend to do is play a tactical/strat game with him. (Nice and simply, fire a cannon on a dice throw. If it hits your opponent, you lose a point, move on a dice throw, board on a dice throw. etc) All good fun. I love it -
Thank you for your comments. It certainly was. I love the Trading Post (aalthough was never lucky enough to have it). I loved the trading aspect to the Pirates Theme. I guess the pirates need traded goods and merchant ships to pirate! I keep adding to the set (with new details) This weekend was the Carrot tops/Sugar Canes in the crate as traded goods. Because of this it continues to become more and more cluttered. So I am going to expand this little set. My intention is to eventually have two 32x32 bases. Extending the quayside and having off to one end a rocky cave.....which will be based upon this years Treasure Island set. I am also wanting to set up some gallows with a pirate skeleton hanging from them. Lego version of Calico Cove! I'm not sure whether you can see or not, but I have two kegs of Beer inside the small tavern behind the landlady.

Share Improvements on Original Sets to 'Complete' Them
Redbeards_Rum replied to VintageLegoEra's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have always made additions to the sets. I have the Imperial Flagship and the Brick Bounty at present and have made additions. Imperial Flagship: Increased its Cannon count (purchasing more), fitting the Captain's cabin with Globe, Drinks Cabinet, Chair and Navigation Equipment, and Violin. I've added a Crew quarters just foreward of the Galley. This includes a bench and table with food on. I've added further rigging and a Boarding Store. (This includes further weapons and grappling hooks) Brick Bounty: Likewise, kitted the Captain's Quarters with Globe, Drinks Cabinet, Pirate Portrait (from Sea Cow) Added cannons. Made a Boarding Store Forward. Made a small open air Stove/Grill for our illustrious cook to work at. Then there are my modifications to the Soldiers Fort (See the MOC page!) -
Thank you for that. My photography wasn't too good but I am hoping to get my NIKON out soon Thank you. I have ordered some more Reddish Brown plates in order to extend the dockside (as it looks somewhat cluttered). I am also on the look out for the rare Brown Shirted Pirate and BlackJack Hawkins. (I believe I have one being posted from Belgium). My intention is to incorporate this into a small story. I intend to use all the 'characters' from old and new. One thing I personally believe is that the NEW line is merely a revamp of the old. And therefore despite some new names floating around, in my opinion, these folks are still Broadside, Woodhouse, De Martinet, Rumney and others.
