  1. And I thought schools were out!!! But noooooo sirs and madams, Cpt Braunsfeld to the rescue classroom! Excellent depiction of our totally-screwed facial hair (and clothes) these days I must admit!
  2. Thanks guys for your kind words and the FB posting!
  3. I am so loving the new title!
  4. While it is absolutely fine as it is and I love it (given my love for medium/small vessels), If I were you, I would try to make the bow 2 studs instead of 4 if possible. It will make it look sleeker. In order to do so, you can overlap those hinged bricks, using each one at a different row of bricks. I don't know how you can add the bowsprit later but a little experimenting is a good way to learn designing ships in LEGO form (and know the limits of your brick collection )
  5. Nice little build! Great beach and good looking building (although I don't like the sloped roof that much for a building of that style). I am curious as to where did you get those awesome, awesome stone faces!!! And to top it all, my mind had a meltdown from my genuine effort at understanding that (scotch?) dialect at the narrative...!
  6. Franchise shops, Megacorporations...HOW DEEP ARE WE INTO EARLY CAPITALISM??? Shall we anticipate for the first industrial revolution too???
  7. Happy Easter guys! And Happy Easter for the rest of us next Sunday too!
  8. those flags and sails are awesome!!!
  9. A.K.A. "The fortress"?? Beautiful ship. May it stay afloat forever! If I had to correct anything, it would be to make that bow a bit more ornamental as Bodi said. It will make it was more elegant! Great build though! How many working hours by the way?
  10. Somewhere at the palace of Oleon... - Don't you think that there is a lot of fuss these days about Lotii and Carnites searching for something at El Oleonda? - Yes, our sailors, merchants and spies have already informed me about that. - So what do you think they are after? - Word is that they both believed a story told by the natives of the island that once, a great empire ruled them from afar. They had even managed to establish their customs at El Oleonda too. One narrative from the natives elders, goes that they practiced the fine art of "gold dumping". Let me explain this to you. Whenever they heard a volcano errupting, or felt an earthquake or their astronomers told them so, they were dumping massive quantities of golden items as offering to their serpent-like gods. And because they wanted that gold to stay put, they were dumping it at spots they called "burning lakes". These were nothing more than what we call hot springs in Oleon. So hot though that no man could dive and come back alive. That's how they secured their gold offerings. However, it appears that both Lotii and Carnite scientists have come up with an ointment that prevents a man from burning (at least extensively) when diving at these hot springs, and now they are both after all those riches at various hot springs of El Oleonda at first and of other islands later. - We must steal that ointment recipy. It could become handy for various nefarious purpuses(tm)... - I am already on that... (insert evil laughter) - Vive le Roi! - Vive le Roi monsieur!
  11. The Cult of the Endless toilet paper! Coincidentally we have a toilet paper brand that is ironically called "Endless"
  12. Ahahahahaha! So true, so true! I am not going out much these days, so I must have skipped their immense growth!
  13. I take it that this is going to be the first franchise company in BoBS history then?
  14. Thanks Keymonus! I made many versions of "night" photos but I wasn't sure how dark the main one should be and as the initial idea to have a light brick on above the MOC was scrapped (for technical reasons), I ended up uploading all threee photos.
  15. Hm...Tough choices...! I was always an Imperial trading vessel lover to be honest... small, affordable, durable
  16. Build your own version of neo-BSB?? Challenge accepted my friend! The new-BSB trading version of mine will hopefully sail away next month.
  17. Totally different in style than the rest of your builds and I am loving it!!! I can praise the roof enough as I am an avid admirer of exactly that style of roof and I really like the interior and the various tools of the trade. The blower especially is epic. Also I really really like the irregular dark tan base P.S: Are those medium flesh/dark orange tiles used at the finishing of the chimney??? Nice touch!
  18. This set is great and I like how close the building style is with Baracuda. Easily on my wishlist . If I had to change anything, it would be to simplify that crane a bit. Mine is still at backorder. You are 1 day late from ordering and it moves to backorder 10 days later. You are a week late and it slips for another month. It's going to be a huge success both financially and quality-wise. YES PLEASE!!! After 40 years of my existance in this world, this set has become an inside joke between me and my father for not being able to get it to me when I was young and how he should buy it to his grandsons when they grow up (it was indeed waaay too expensive back then - not that today the price has fallen, on the contrary ) That! And maybe add 1x1 plates to break the monotony of the (orange?) downhill road at the entrance.
  19. Heheheh, nice little build. I was actually running such a "store" for a semester or so when I was in the Army (before moving to a remote Comms outpost afterwards).
  20. You can search for a canvas-like cloth called "caboto" that is used at the wooden ship models. It is thick-ish and its color is somewhere between white and tan (which is the perfect color for sails imo). Example below (see the frailing though?). Click the pic for a close up at flickr. If you can't find anything, dipping white cloth with a thickness of your liking to a bucket/tupper/whatever full of tea and leave it for a couple of hours, depending how "dark" you want it to be, is a good alternative. This tip comes from an old post somewhere here in this forum and I have seen it work. There are readily available canvas sheets (the ones you print photos on your pc - try Staples if you are living in the US) which are "infused" with a form of plastic substance which makes them more stiff. While never used them myself yet, they are a nice and easier to get alternative. If all the above fail, you can always go to the local tailor/fabric shop the whay I go, tell him what you want to do and he will give you various remnants of fabrics of various thickness he doesn't want anymore so that you experiment on your own. Black sails are nice too btw. Example with a fairly thick-ish cloth that frails way less, below. Again, click the pics for a close up at flickr. Finally, in order to cut your sails to a pattern you like, you have to use really sharp scissors (a tip from my tailor) else most of the fabrics tend to frail. Fabrics frail with time too. In order to prevent frailing, some people use transparent nail polisher and apply a bit at the edges. Don't use too much else it will shimmer when looking it in the light. Oh, and last but not least, for holes at the fabrics I use a tool that is used at opening belt holes. It's fairly cheap. All the above work with custom capes too although you need to aim at thickier fabrics. Examples of some capes etc I made for a friend and fellow LUG member here and here.
  21. Hahahahaha, ofc there is a fish! I assure you that their reaction was totally spontaneous so each grabbed whatever he could find! Awesome video btw!
  22. All hail Breshaun, jewel of the high seas!
  23. Meanwhile outside the interrogation building the clouds before the storm were gathering... He is a spy! Lynch him! Hang him! Burn him! Torture him with a feather!!! To the guillotine! Hand the spy to us!!! Just a flavor pic
