MOC: Fantasy Island: Island Bungalow
Geertos13 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is a fantastic building ! The Red-Wihite color sheme is fantastic ! And the editing is so sweet and cute ! Great job on the minifigures too ! Amazing Creation ! -
Yes it is but at that point I didn't Know I was going to use him as Fredericus Nuntius. When I created this Topic, I didn't even know about the Character Contest

Haha, don't worry, "Siriusly" It doesn't matter, just be sure that you NEVER use the same profile pictures, and I suggest you could sign all your post by : Sincerly, Sirius Black II !

Nice Creation Cutlass Iz ! The Church looks nice and that colored bit on the front is so ingenious and lovely I really like the statue, so much better than the one by cralegoboy, if I may speak my mind in such a clear way. The Gravyard looks okay though the tombs look a bit too simpel... The flowers on James and Lily's Tomb copuld have been of real flower, I think it would have been icer than these plates you used ( recycled from the Winter Toy Shop, I presume ?) Netherless This creations really gives me a warm feeling and I really love the entire thing. You're lucky Hinckley destroyed the 32x32 baseplate rule, because this has to be the biggest entry yet ! Talking about these baseplates, I suggest you try to cover these gasps between the white baseplates, because that makes it a bit ugly The hole thing is sweet ! Good job and best of luck in the Contest !

Haha, Nice Introduction Burman ! It seems becoming a new trend to introduce yourself after a year on Eurobricks ! Nice pictures by the way !

The Creations are wonderfull ! Cralegoboy, that Teacher is really great ! As some have already said though, I don't get the Wizard feeling. You might want to put him some more wizarding looking clothes. I know it's a muggle studies teacher, but I still think he woudn't be wandering around wearing Jeans and a T-Shirt ! I liked Admiral rons creations very much too ! The Idea of that Foreign Minister was great, and the "persian" arch makes everything look absolutly accurate ! It seems a bit empty though, you could try to put some more detail into it. Because of the arch there is a new void created making it look even more empty, so you should defenatly put in some new objects and stuff. The Minifigure on the other hand is perfect ! Nice creations everybody ! A little question though, for my personnal creation, some has stated the backstory was great, but the minifigure isn't great... What could I do about it, it's not to late, so I'd be absolutly willing to chnage, the vignette/character looks and maybe even a bit of the Back Story ! What should I do ? I have thought of destroying the whole Daily Prophet Idea, and focusing on the in,vention of the Quick-Quotes Quill, making him a more crazy man.. ?
-
I've just seen, Cutlass Iz' entry ! Great Job ! I loved the Vignette ! The Backstory was interresting too, I still do think it seems all a bit unlikely to have a full time Apparition teacher. BUT, why not ?! Good Job and best of luck in the contest !

Hey Welcome on Eurobricks SiriusBlack ! I'm glad to see a new Harry Potter nerd, hmm fan has finally joined the group ! As you might can guess by my Signature and personnal Pic, I do like Harry Potter too ! I hope to see you around in the Licensed Forum, and i'm exited to see your newest creations ! What kind of LDD MOCS do you build ? Hogwarts ? Or more specific things ? Could you tell us something more about yourself ? What are your hobbys ? ( apart from LEGO of course )
-
Welcome on Eurobricks Markus ! Great to see all your plans and Ideas ! Keep us updated and I hope to see you around the forums !
-
Hey S70KES Welcome on Eurobricks, I hope you enjoy your time and here and I'm sure all members of the Town Forum will warmly welcome you in their Theme ! Do you like MOCing ? And yes the "I'm a conformist!" is over-used right here !
-
Really a cute MOC I've often seen big Prince of Persia temples MOCs, but this one blows them all away. "Simple but sweet" That's probably the best expression, I know everybody has already said it, but it looks so great ! The Tiled roof, very ingenious ! I must say, I was expecting a Light-up Brick, but I wasn't disapointed at all to see you left it out ! Great Job !
-
You do ? Hmm, I'll have to recheck my sources then. I always thought it wasn't allowed. But I know for sure Warner Bros does not allow it. George Lucas might have not made that decision though ?
-
Harry Potter is a licensed theme, and like all the other Licensed Themes, Warner Brothers and all the other movie companies don't allow LEGO to sell seperated minifigures. However I think it could work, this is an I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E idea.

Thanks for the Feedback TazManiac ! I'm glad you liked he creation, as for the picture itself, in y sotry, that picture was taken for the Dialy Prophet when it hits a best selling record, which means it was a professional photograph. That's why Nuntius is standing quite calm, and almost petrified on the picture. His face isn't that Happy, you're right about that, but as he was heading 68 years old, it seems obvious he wasn't in such a powerfull and moving stand, as your minifigure. On a different subject, the Links posted are there to give some more depth to the character indeed. I know two vigs are not allowed, but I thought, if we are allowed to send the audience to our flickr account than it would be ok. after all, I could have put these pictures on Flickr without linking them directly, but once on my flickr account, the audience could find them anyway. So one quick Question Hinck', to be sure... Is the linking I am doing Allowed ? If so, there is more to come ! Just another thing on your creation TazManiac ^^ If I were you, I woudn't make to much Backstory, I did it for mine because he is supposed to be a famous Wizard and because a random Daily Prophet reported wrote an article about his Death. Your lack of information about this Wizard is great, it describes the ministry worker perfectly. In the world we live in, every collegue of ours seems a stranger, nobody actually has a real "identity", anonymous people we see everyday but we don't pay attention to them because of our own blindness and self-conceitedness.

Entry Posted !( available HERE ) I noticed the topic said we had to comment in this thread so I just wanted to say that I really liked TazManiac's entry ! The Wizard looks Nice and that Ministry fireplace is sweet ! Some more background info about the Character would have been nice ! But it's up to you ! After all, he's just a random worker !

THE DAILY PROPHET FREDERICUS NUNTIUS The Daily Prophet is sad to report the death of the Ex-Daily Prophet Editor, Fredericus Nuntius. January 1996, Daily Prophet hits a marketing record. The Mass Breakout from Azkaban was highly discussed news for more than two months Fredericus Nuntius, was born in 1928 in a Little Village in the North of Ireland. Though Beeing from Pure Blood, Nuntius never accorded any importance to Blood Status. He Attented Hogwarts in 1939 and was sorted in Ravenklaw. Ater succesfully Graduating with 12 N.E.W.T.'s, Nuntius went living in London and quickely became a Witch Weekly reporter After several years of boring work, Nuntius decided to change his ways and turned himself to the art of interviewing. In 1953 he invented the now famous : Quick-Quotes Quill. Nuntius ideas of a magic quill making personnal quotes while interviewing were only based on his need of a self writing quill. The Project did however soon turn into one of the most usefull tools for Gossiping reporters and it now posses an extremly bad reputation. after many false accusations, threats and insults about his invention, Nuntius got asked to become a reporter at the Evening Prophet. 5 years passed when Nuntius finally reached the head office of the Wizarding Newspaper : The Daily Prophet. His Succesfull articles, professional interviews, and most interresting ways of working, soon made him the best reporter the Daily Prophet ever had. In 1963, he was crowned head editor of the News Paper and it soon became the most succesfull and best-selling News Paper in the Wizarding Community. In 1990, he earned the Order of Merlin that was given to him by the recently chosen Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge. Pictures of the event available HERE You-Know-who's return in 1995 was Nuntius most difficult time of his career. Working with Albus Dumbledore and aware of the Order fo the Phoenix, Nuntius wanted to publish an article about it but Cornelius Fudge strictly prohibited it. Nuntius got in a personnal fight with the Minister and the Order of Merlin was retracted by Cornelius Fudge Himself. Cornelius Fudge, openly misusing his power, fully controlled the Newspaper and oftenly used censure. In 1996, when You-Know-who's return was openly claimed and Fudge had been dismissed, Nuntius posted many impressive and confidential work and openly admitted the ministry had been controlling and threatening him. The New Prime Minister Rufus Scrimgeour, gave the Order of Merlin back too Nuntius. Because of his many articles against You-know-who in which he openly called him " Voldemort", the Death Eaters Kidnapped him, and later killed him in Summer 1996. The Current Editor of the Daily Prophet, Barnabas Cuffe made sure a statue of Nuntius would be put in the Ministry. For Pictures of the Statue click HERE By M. Amerinus, Daily Prophet Reporter

So Hinckley, are we allowed to make two different vignettes for out Minifigure ? Or is that against the rules ?
-
Hmmm.... I'm a huge fan of MOC with higly detailed interiors and I think Facades always lose some beauty... As a Brickfilmer however, I have often been forced to build facades in order to save up my pieces to have the biggest set as possible. If I just want to build something sweet, than I would go for a fully detailled building with interior. I don't think it will ever be "too late" to change your ways. It is your style and I can only encourage you to specify yourself in building facades. Beeing specialized in one style is absolutly a +. I would say : Continue making facades and don't change your ways !

Okay, I guess I'll have to edit my previous post Because I have a question ! I read the rules and I didn't understand the word "overlapping" Went checking on the internet but I might have misunderstood. ( So if somebody could quickely explain ) On a different though related subject, Are we allowed to present our fig in two different Backgrounds ? Keeping both these backgrounds under the 100 limit. For instance, if I want to present Harry Potter , can I show him at Hogwarts, and at the Dursley Don't worry I'm not planning to, ORIGINAL CHARACTER RULE !!!!!
-
Why is, everybody always making such a FUZZ about these rules ! They seemed pretty clear to me, if you have a specific question, about the minifigures or the parts, ask away... But what is all that about the "Original" It was kinda obvious for me, and I'm french ! So Hinck, can we make a Minifigure with Custom parts ? Just Kidding, I'll get to my bricks and use everything I can find. I'll just invent a Character... Let's see... Thinks - thinks - thinks - thinks....
-
Very Nice MOC ! The wall design is awesome and the minifigures look all great too. A nice addition to the Prince of Persia MOCs The Dark Blue and green do look a little odd in that brown/tan world of bricks. Why not go for some Dark Red and soem brown perhaps ?
-
Ha sweet Hinckey ! The Harry Potter month coming to an end made me sad, but this sure is a great way to make me happy again ! It's not over yet ! I'll be sure to enter this, But I don't really have an idea for a character. He or she has to fit in the Harry Potter World... Hmmmm.... Going to be a tof contest ! PS : I just want to say that I agree with Cutlass Iz, we should all be very thankfull ! Thank you very much Hinck' for organizing all this for us, the Harry Potter Nerds Fans
-
Thanks alot everybody for such postive comments. Thank you so much, it's great to hear the opinion of the "futur" contest winner ! That sign ( as I stated on your Zonko MOC ) was alot of work, but I'm happy with the final result. As for the "emptiness" of the pub, some people have sugested a bit more action so I guess I'll have to furfill their wishes You see Maegnus ? They want more people, but don't worry KielDaMan I will add some more tables and Figs. I'll try to fix that, I might use other ways to make the roof stand, because it actually does look a bit ugly indeed. Thanks for such a thoughtfull comment. I highly appreciate it. I will defenatly add some figures. That Dementor is quite funny indeed, the idea popped into my head after playing my cousins Harry Potter Years 1-4. You can see a couple of Dementors sitting on a table at one point Well, I guess I'll have to go to my Bricks and update it with figs and more !

As a Disney fan threw and threw I think it would be a fantastic. Disney already has a contract with LEGO ( Prince of persia, Toy Story and upcoming Pirates of the carrabean ) I would defenatly love to see a nice LEGO EXCLUSIVE Notre Dame de Paris in my nearest LEGO Store. I love that movie ! I still sing Bells of notre dame, from time to time. And my cousins always want to watch it I'm in ! However I think it probably won't happen because these movies are "outta time" but I still hope to see a Disney Classic turned into a LEGO theme
