I think we're all quite right here. I agree with Aanchir who has told us about the royalties! It is obvious that LEGO or TLG has to raise their prices, because a part of their profits go to the License they're working with. We can assume that new designed parts, and especially minifigures may have an impact. Minifigures need to be designed after a character, recreating a character in lego form is one of the most expensive things for Lego to do. They have to pay to get the righs to build the sets, but I believe Characters are a much more complicated story. We can safely assume that because of all that, to keep their own benefits reasonable, they have to raise their prices! An interresting idea you got there Blondie-Wan! I think that the weight and size of the sets do have a role to play with the price too! Let's be honest, licensed set often suffer from empty spaces, gaps in the walls, the use of bigger pieces or BURPs! All these are supposed to make the set bigger! How bigger the set, how more expensssive they become! It's all about the size! the Biggest Licensed sets aren't always the one with the most pieces, I mean, of course, there will be alot of bricks, no doubt about that, but with the slightest modifications, they make the set look much bigger by including BURPs, raised baseplates or pillars. So the Size goes up, and so does the price!

LDD MOC: Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour
Geertos13 replied to Orejon8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ah, this is really nice! As a harry Potter fan I know of course what's going on here. I really like this building! The colors are really nice and fit very nicely into the official Diagon Alley Set! The size seems quite appropriate, as I always imagined as beeing rather small. I love the SNOT Techniques used on the walls, and the roof is nicely executed! It is a good idea of yours to have done two 2x2 slopes and then two 2x3 slopes! That looks really nice! I also like the little table in front of it. It's a small detail, but I can already imagine Harry doing his homeworkthere in Prisoner of Azkaban, while Florean brings him a free sorbet every half an hour and tells him what he knows about Mideaval Witch burnings to help Harry with his History of Magic. The inside, I must say, is very nice, and very detailled on that! I liked the little flasks, ice, and flavour things you've added to it, and I just love these lamps hanging from the ceiling! The only, slight details I'd like to see was some sort of maybe a sign maybe, or a brick-built Ice-cream on top iof the roof, or anything like such so that we know that this is Florean fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour and not some random cafe when we walk in Diagon Alley. Overall, Great Job though on the designing and a well executed creation! -
Hello Eurobricks! I haven't been posting something in such a long, long, long time! Mainly because I have been very busy and after a quite heavy and emotional periode I finally found the time to come back to the best and most warm hearted forum ever made, our dear Eurobricks! And, let's be honest, you can't just make a come-back with a little vignette, can you? So, after quite some time, some intensive building, and, obviously brickfilming, I am proud to present : HOGWARTS GREAT HALL That's right, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Great Hall! A pretty ambitious project so to say, but I wouldn't be Geertos13 if I wasn't up for a little challenge! After my huge Diagon Alley, I decided to go a little smaller. When I bought the new Hogwarts Castle, I came to the conclusion that the Great Hall wasn't that much of an improvement to the first ever Hogwarts Castle. It sure looked a lot nicer, and the design was quite beautiful, but the set just couldn't capture the magic the Great Hall deserved in my opinion. On top of that, they missed out completely on Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and I, as a massive Harry Potter fan, just had to make my own! This Great Hall is lot bigger than the one in the set, and alot more book (and movie) accurate. It contains the foor tables, and that's already a great thing! The main challenge was that I wanted it to be warm and cosy, so that implied it couldn't be too big, or it wouldn't have looked as welcoming friendly. I decided to shorten the four tables down, first to keep the cosy feeling, but also for brickfilming purposes as I had a limited number of minifigures that had to fill the seats! Obviousy, the sky and flying Candles are photoshopped and are used in the Brickfilm. Most of the pictures are direct screenshots from the movie. In this view, we're looking down on the foor tables that have all a different feel to it. Of course, besides the different torsos (I used Tin7_creations' wonderful decals) we see a slightly different atmosphere on each table. At Gryffindor, the usual atmosphere hangs on the table, though at Slytherin, nobody looks at each other, and the food stayed untouched. At Ravenclaw, the students are bent over an interresting conversation while eating and drinking pumpkin juice and at Hufflepuff, the food is also untouched, though, this is purely because friendly conversations are more important than the delicious meals waiting for them. On this Picture, a Hufflepuff student is singing a song for the beginning of the term Feast, a scene specially made up for the Brickfilm. As this brickfilm is the fifth episode of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry and Snape are missing, and Slughorn has joined the Staff's table. The song sung by this young Hufflepuff is ♪Hogwarts Light♫ and is song by the Youtube user Jigscarag (which, on a side note, would highly recommand you to check out) For more information about this song, watch the video below. A close up of the Slytherin Table. Here again, the dumb expression on Crabbe's face (Yesn that's my custom fleshy Crabbe, I'll also use the new Goyle once I got the Battle for Hogwarts) Malfoy, looking both nasty and amused at Goyle stupidity. And Blaise Zabini (the dark skinned boy on the left) who's probably looking so happy, as Theodore Nott has just spilled Pumpkin Juice on his robes On the opposite side, we see Gryffindor House cheering and eating while Harry (who has now arrived), Ron and Hermione discussing Draco Malfoy's behaviour on the Hogwarts Express. On the left can my custom Neville be seen. I do have the official minifigure of the Prisoner of Azkaban set, though don't think his dumb and rabbit-like teeth expression works well for him any longer. Now, this is a picture of Dumbledore's speech, in the Brickfilm, Dumbledore turns down the lights of the candles to get the students attention. This was done purely for Brickfilming purposes to create a more dramatic effect. As Dumbledore is talking about danger and evil, the hole ambiance, including the lights get darker. Now, of course, the great hall won't always stay dark and here are just two pictures of the place in the morning! In the following picture, we also get a better look at the fireplace, which was designed to give an extra "living room" dimension to the room and of course add some small more accuracy to the looks of the movie. Notice the great hall isn't filled with students anymore as everybody has breakfast when they want. The food has changed, and the appetiting chickens have been changed into delicious croissants and bread. A last shot of Professor Mcgonnagal giving Harry his time tables and congratulating him with his excelent mark in Transfiguration. So this is it! I hope you enjoyed it and please tell me what you think by leaving a comment in the section below! This was Geertos13 with his new moc! Announcing his comeback!! To finish, here is the newest episode of the Half Blood Prince Series, where you can see this building come to life! flying Candles and magic ceilings, you'll all see it in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Part 6!

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
Geertos13 replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I've been around the Forums since a few months now and I've looked at many reviews by great members ! After many "watch and learn" I think the time has come to give the reviewer's academy a go and become a good reviewer ! To do it, I have a bunch of old and complete Harry Potter Sets. ( Even some that have never been reviewed here ! and I'd love to add them to the collection ! ) I own a PANASONIC Lumix DMC-FZ18 ( Whcih means High quality Pictures ) Besides, Big Cam once told me I had a nac for photographing ! Come on, it's Big Cam right ? I like to write and even if English is not my most favourite language, I think I'm good enough at it to produce a correct review ! So without futher ado, This is my demand, to enter the Reviewer's academy I hope you'll accept me and that I can soon begin my study at the Academy ! I'm motivated and have enough free time at the moment ! I want to be a very good member, for a very great site -
This is amazing ! A Hilarious idea with a fantastic executed building ! Some really Nice technics are used here and I'm just in Love with the overall shape of Mr Potatoe The MOC itself has the perfect Toy Story feeling and I can already call back a similiar scene in the movies. As some have already stated above me, the Pieces you chose for the nose, eyes, hat etc... Are just so original ! I really wouldn't have thought of putting the skeleton legs as a mustache either ! The letter Boxes are really faithfull to their MOVIE counter part, and for that reason, this MOC really deserves some attention ! It's extremly faithful to the feeling of the movie : A great idea executed perfectly ! Amazing Job I scream clone ! keep the great MOCs coming !

REVIEW: 8804 LEGO Minifigures Series 4
Geertos13 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excelent Review WhiteFang ! These are fantastic ! The Kimono/Asian Woman is just adorable And an absolute must get ! The Ice Skater is also a fantastic Minifigure in my opinion. The Hair is amazing and personnaly, I'd love to see it on my Custom Harry Potter , Rita Skeeter Custom Minifigure Defenatly the best series so far Unfortunatly, They don't sell them down here in France ! Which means I'll have to surf on Bricklink to pick some of them ! I agree with JipponThat crzay doctor is cool, a shame it beeing in such a limited edition... -
Wow ! Excelent work Burman ! It's nice to see someone make a Harry Potter MOC from time to time, I was beginning to worry ! ( Am I the only One building HP MOCS ??! ) About this creation, The Tower is just so fantastic ! The Rock Design on the Front is just so perfect ! And I'm truly in love with the destroyed entrance at the left ! Draco's wand effect is nicely photoshopped too and so is Trelawney's Crystall ( It is edited, right ? ) I do think the roof section above Trelawney could have been a bit less square-like. It's like one big block is underneath the roof, making the ceiling look pretty low too compared to the minifigure. Except for that Small detail I don't like I must say that the Shattered Windows are to die for and the messed up color sheme with Green and pruple is really cool, makes it look broken The Knight Attacking Draco made me laugh And the famous Trelawney throwing Crystall balls on the ennemies heads ( I think It's Greyback she hits in the book... ) is a really nice addition ! Now that I think of it, These two ( excluding the Knight ) minifigures are exactly the ones that I felt were missing in the Official Upcoming Battle for Hogwarts Set : Trelawney and Malfoy.. But hey, Professor Sprout is nice too I guess... So Burman, this is an outstanding creation with such a beautifull feeling and sure deserves a long live existence on your shelves ! If you have any Great Job, and keep making Harry Potter MOC's, we're missing a few at the moment

I do agree that a Minisyry of Magic set would be difficult but cool though. If it were to be made into set the Atrium or "hall" you guys are talking about it probably would just be two fireplaces connected to a fountain. If LEGO is to make it ( which I highly hope and encourage ) I think it will be extremly difficult for them ) I don't agree with Kyp who says Hogwarts is a castle, that in the books and the movies has been extremly detailled and it is fairly easy to draw a map of it. The Ministry of Magic however is an underground office complex. The Atrium that is seen the movies doesn't really lead anywhere... In deathly Hallows the hole Atrium ends in a wide open space with ten lifts. we have not really idea either where these lifts really go, and it would be stupid to make lifts if not one of them can move to some part. Besides, the Inside isn't that complicated but the things you guys forgot : The Ministry of Magic has no outside ! You can't just make a set with blank walls on the outside. So unless it is a 2-sides building... A "Death-Star-like Construction" that means you can turn the model around so thatyou have two different parts of the ministry, other than that, I don't see any possibility !

Scene from The Hangover - animated in LEGO
Geertos13 replied to legolooney's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
I've seen the Movie and this was absoultly fabulous ! I LOVED that scene in the movie, so funny And seeing it made into LEGO is truly terrific Good job, well done ! -
Hello Everyone ! Geertos13 brings you a new Harry Potter MOC ! This time, I recreated a hole new scene of Deathly Hallows ! I liked the scene pretty much and thought It would be nice turned into LEGO form. I must say it's small but I'm planning to do some bigger Malfoy Manor work pretty soon SKIRMISH AT MALFOY MANOR This Vignette, inspired directly by the movie, is the now famous scene where Dobby appears to help the Trio and causes a Chandelier to fall from the ceiling on Bellatrix Lestrange. Like the Movie, The Walls are black and the floor is made out of dark wood. The Chandelier is hanging from a wall, thanks to a SNOT technic. Dobby, who can be spotter on top of the main plate of the lamp, trying to disassemble the ieces causing the Chandelier to break. On the right we have Lucius and Bellatrix, threatening Hermione with a knife. I'd have loved to include Narcissa, but that'll have to wait untill the Forbidden Forest set comes out I tried to make the Chandelier in the same spirit as the rest of the walls. I decided to put some silver and green in it though to match the fireplace nicely and spiced everything up with some silver bits put into it. The chandelier was made in a specific way so that it could swing dangereously from right to left before crumbling to pieces ! A close up of Dobby trying to dissemble the Lamp. Dobby for the win ! Harry Potter, victim of Hermione's Stinging Hex. She cursed Harry in such a way that the Snatchers wouldn't recognise him. The Spell was so powerfull that Harry's entire face got mishappen and the jink lasted for a couple of hours... Now that you've seeen the hole Vignette. We can easely change the minifigures to give another settings with another Part of the Story : Hermione beeing tortured or Bellatrix interrogating Griphook about the Sword of Gryffindor. I hope you enjoyed this Vignette and please tell me what you think by leaving a comment !

HARRY POTTER : From Dobby to Kreacher
Geertos13 replied to Geertos13's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well I think the Old one is exactly the same mold without the printings, so you could still try to push the nose down, make him look sad, push the edges of the mouth down I guess... If you want to of course... -
HARRY POTTER : From Dobby to Kreacher
Geertos13 replied to Geertos13's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the comments guys ! They are really appreciated ! Kreacher is the House Elf of the Black Family ( Sirius Black is the only living member of it left ) And he lives at 12 Grimmauld Place where he serves his only Master, Sirius... He hates him though. Well I guess back information is not really needed. He looks like this in the movie : So that you have an idea, I made him a bit after my own imagination too so the model is not perfect accurate to the movie ! But I hope there still is some ressemblance ! -
Hello Fellow Eurobricks Members ! As this is my first post in the Minifig Customisation Topic, a little introduction would be appropriate. I'm Geertos13, a Harry Potter MOCer and Brickfilmer. You probably know me from the Licensed Forum where I'm hanging around most of the time. However, I thought this TOPIC belonged here as it shows how you can make a simpel Kreacher out of a regular house elf/dobby mold. This is my first ever Customization and I muist admitt, harming such a beautifull head piece, does hurt a bit This is Kreacher. The house elf of the Black Family. He's old, ugly and a bit creepy. To get the appropriate feel I did some pretty simple customisation : 1) Push the Nose down. ( Like this ) 2) Rub of, half of the eyes printing, so that he looks bored or angry. ( depending on how you take it off ) WARNING : The Printing rubs off very easely ! 3) Cut (small knife) down the edges of the Mouth to the bottom so that he gets a sad look ( or an angry, depending on how the eyes look, once again ) 3) Using a knife again, make a small hole in one of the ears, to make he look older and maybe, "abused" as he looks in the movies 4) With the knife again, cut different holes on the cheecks and on his head, to make him look older. You can also make the original molds deeper ( eye for instance, too make him look tired ) SIDE TO SIDE : DOBBY AND KREACHER Tip : If Dobby and Kreacher are to be in the same MOC ( Hogwarts Kitchens, Spying on Malfoy ) : By Giving Dobby at hat and Hogwarts Clothing for the Kitchens, Kreacher will look even uglier CLOSE UP I hope you enjoyed it and found it usefull Comments & Critics Appreciated

Cool MOC Masked Builder. I like the idea of the garage which is quite unexpected. I always imagined to be more like a small barn or a granary. Though we can safely assume that, Mr Weasley was so obsessed with Muggles that he bought a Muggle Garage ! The Inside is nice too, a crowded space full of Muggle stuff. I though the Weasley's didn't have a way of travelling excpet for the Ford Anglia ? So What's up with the motorcycle ? Oh well. I guess it isn't big enough to transport the hole family anyway. Great job on this sweet little Garage and keep the Harry Potter MOCs coming !

The Four Houses of Hogwarts

Very Cool layout Holko It's great for playability. You managed to customize your sets quite well ! I'm not great fan of these sorts of MOD's for the playability but this one is very convincing ! Good job !

Hello fellow Eurobricks Members ! Geertos13 is presenting his newest Vignette/Small MOC : Trelawney's Inspection The WinterBreak Contest, the recent release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and all the news about the new sets coming up made me completely come back into the Harry potter mood once the HP Month was over. I decided to build a small Vignette. The Classroom of Professor Trelawney is a fanscinating place, and surprisingly enough, I never found many special MOCs of it. I decided to build one, and to spice it up a bit, I included Professor Umbridge to inspect Trelawney. I absolutly loved the inspection scenes in the fith movie, and I noticed not many people actually have the Order of the Phoenix 5378 Set of 2007. The Set itself hasen't the best design but the Minifigures such as Umbridge and the Death Eater are awesome ! Many people have been complaining about the Trelawney figure, but I liked it. The hat is just ugly, but that dress is amazing. Escepecially Considering it was from a 2004 set. Here we go. I decided to make the room blue and purple instead of pink, so that it doesn't look too much like Umbridge room. The hole thing looks Magic and it translates the creepiness and dreaming ambiance in trelawney's class as Described in the Books and as seen in the films. Purple and Light Blue fits perfectly with Trelawney's personnality and clothes, and even Umbridge Pink suit doesn't look unaproppriate ! A Nice snot Technic, with some Crystal Balls, filled with diamonds hanging form the Sealing, typical for Trelawney Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil : Trelawney's most ( and only ) devoted students Umbridge... Inspecting Trelawney.. We hate you Toad ! C&C appreciated

Nice found Dr Rod ! It's a shame that they do only pass on it very quickly ! I was hoping for more... Well... Even in a small shot, this Castle looks amazing !

Fredericus Nuntius : Fantastic Hero or Absolute Zero ?
Geertos13 replied to Geertos13's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd love to write it, but for now I only got one reply ! I mean it looks like this isn't interresting for anybody so I'm not sure yet... -
An excelent point you got there, Dark-Avenger. This set is already a great thing. I mean, we shoudn't forget we weren't supposed to have any of the new sets ( including the 2010 Sets ) If LEGO didn't make the decision to bring the hole Franchise back ! Besides, including these 2010 Sets, we got more than 20 new designed minifigures. and in this set we got 4 New minifigures ! Including, one that HAS NEVER been made before, one that has never been made into flesh form, and two which have finally been re-designed. Also, this set has been made mostly for kids. In my opinion, this wasn't made for AFOL's. If you want extremly detailed buildings, we've got the Modular Sets, and the LEGO Exclussives. For such a simple set as the Battle for Hogwarts with less than 1000 pieces, were you expecting a huge Castle thing with thousands of room ? AND, seriously guys... LEGO is about adding stuff by yourself isn't it ?

What's your favorite LEGO license theme so far?
Geertos13 replied to BrickMonster MonsterBrick's topic in LEGO Licensed
Has to be Harry Potter ! But this might be based on the fact that I'm a massive Harry Potter fan, not on the quality of the actual sets. I do think that they were really good though.
