  2. What is the description and part number of the white scoops? Searched Brickowl but can,t find them.
  3. Just tried to stock up these switches at my local Lego store in Newcastle. No luck only the the new type on sale !
  4. Its shown in the Mine Loader 42049 parts list as p/n 6133245 and will also be in the BWE set.
  5. Some good ideas and suggestions. Perhaps once the parts are available a contest to build something that incorporates the new gear rack quadrants would be a challange !!
  6. The new gear rack quadrants have other possible uses for Technic builds such as:- 1/. Bucket Wheel trencher ( BWE - C -model ? ) 2/. Large crane builds. 3/. Fairground rides - not often made using Technic. 4/. Railway Hopper wagon coal / iron ore rotary tipplers What else could these gear quadrants be used for ?
  7. Two half bushes plus a belt wheel should be sufficient. You could always use a tiny piece of "BlueTac" between them to increase the grip.
  8. Two half bushes on the axle end would do the same job.
  9. Tried this method but used a small modellers vice to grip the end with cross axle hole, then wriggled the other end whilst pulling HARD and out it came OK.
  10. It can be done but very awkward. The black part has a forked end with two lugs that stop it coming apart. Disassembled one today by using two toolmakers flat screwdrivers with a blade width of 1mm. You need to compress the two lugs at the same time in order for it to slide out of the yellow tube - the spring helps. Best if you can clamp unit in a vice - otherwise you need three hands !!
  11. Wrong it's part of the A model. The B model is an aggregate crusher See earlier posts in this thread for images.
  12. Seek and you will find them in earlier posts on this subject.

  14. I have many of these cracked mostly yellow ones - if only a small crack then repair using a tiny drop of ABS glue and consign them to parts of a model not under stress. Also have many grey 6536 & 31184 connecters with cracks - black ones are less prone to cracking. I think part of the problem is fatigue if parts are assembled and dis-assembled many times. I now don't pull models apart but carefully ease out axels and pins etc. using a thin blade or an axle to seperate connected parts & pins.
  15. Its good that Lego replace the cracked part BUT they should be finding out why this seems to be an increasing problem and coming up with a solution either by redesign or by stronger material.
  16. C model: Came across these which will make a good MOC using parts from BWE. 17. Build the "Ulitmate" version for an even more enjoyable build.
  18. Finally a use for cracked bushes as small rocks !
  19. See page 8 post # 192 for a larger image.
  20. That means you will have to build a tunnel as well in order for it to work !
  21. The engine shown is E1 on the Harton Coal Company electric railway system in South Shields - England which had quite an extensive system connecting several coal mines to the shipping staithes on the River Tyne. E1 had two 150 hp motors to overcome the steep banks along the line. Built 1908 by Siemens Schuckert, as were locos E2 through to E6. The photo was taken in 1910 Loco E2 built at the same year still exists and is awaiting restoration at the Sepeheson Railway Museum in Nortrh Tyneside.
  22. Torsion or twisting of the tower was a problem on all my tower cranes especially when slewing the jib. With original arrangement of bracing the tower it was quite flexible. When I changed the drives to run up inside the tower I was able to put two diagonal braces opposite each other which help stiffen the tower. Problem is only two sides of the tower can be braced, as it is difficult to attach bracing to the plain side of Technic beams. Currently exploring ways of achieving this as sometime in the future I intend to build the crane pictured below. Built in 1920 to lift Battleship gun turrets, it could lift up to 250 Tons. Recently has been given a £4M full overhaul and upgrade to 375 ton lift to lift the large pipe / cable drums on to ships for the oil & wind farm industry. Biggest challenge to to replicate all the diagonal braces and incorporate the small crane as well. It will use the new gear racks from the BWE set for the main turntable. 23. I hope your Tower Crane project is succesfull. Having built three tower cranes recently, it quickly became apparent there are many problems to build a reliable remotely functioning crane. Placing all the PF components (Motors/ Battery/ IR RX plus winding drums) makes it top heavy and take up a lot of space, and I opted to place all these at the base of the crane. Reliable movement of the hoist trolly is difficult to achieve using double drums without a lot of slack in the system due to uneven winding of the cord on & of the drums. Also the round end of technic neams causing the wheels to stick, the trolly wheels aalso tend to catch the side of the diagonal bracing when using rubber tires. I devised a solution to overcome this using a single drive pulley and a smooth track for wheels to roll along using 8 x 1 smooth plates. See these topics for more details. 42042 B model Lego Tower Crawler Crane (MOC) with powered hoist trolley. http://www.eurobrick...72#entry2316131 Tower Crane (MOC) with horizontal jib http://www.eurobrick...72#entry2348939 TC8 Tower Crane - contest entry http://www.eurobrick...72#entry2337934 The last problem with building tall tower cranes is how and where to display them. I had to remove two sections of shelving to accomodate them. IMG_3112 by Doug Ridgway, on Flickr
  24. I had to re-organise all my study shelves to display my cranes. BWE will take up a lot of space. I will have to find a new home for these. IMG_3112 by Doug Ridgway, on Flickr IMG_3113 by Doug Ridgway, on Flickr
