Na'im rolls his eyes, "I'll come long in my own time thank you very much-surely you can hold out for a bit longer master goat." he nods at his companions "I'll see you all in the fields I am sure." Na'im takes one last look at the hall, that had become unreconsiable since all the other, more experienced heroes had turned up and started making conversation. He shkes his head and leaves the hall for the marketplace
-
Naim smiles thoughtfully "Yes, talking at length to my kin, or the Star Elves for that matter is enough to drive anyone up the wall…and at least you will only be swinging your blade at beasts in the fields, I suppose-not humaniod targets." he finishes absentmindedly
-
"Lady Miderun!" Na'im says aghast "I thought we were mercenaries, or heroes or whatever not psychotic killing machines!" "A minor God, well an angel really: the red angel, a fallen angel who chose the line of the paladin he served-that is the noble house of Fenari-over the lord of light, when the paladin he served fell in combat. He became something of a protecter and patron of Fenario in legend, but he is largely forgotten nowdays." With good reason he wants to add-but he doubts the Paladin will think highly of his misgivings about the Red angel "You are a paladin are you not? I suppose you are familiar with all this talk of angels, being able to summon one yourself." Na'im takes another sip of his drink "Well put my friend-a master of words as well as a master of the sword it would appear." Na'im says admiringly-there were few people he disliked more than those who could not maintain intelligent conversation "Ah, yes thank you master Vindisval…I simply got a bit carried away." Na'im says weakly "Not being as young as I used to be probably dosent help either." he adds Na'im looks up from his drink and raises an eyebrow "The fields of glory you say? I may as well I suppose-I could do with seeing some greenery after the Badlands of Spelesia-and the loot from the fields of course, I wouldn’t mind seeing that either. Why, we can make it a reunion of sorts, after our spelesian expedition!" Naim grins "Will we need to do any shopping before we leave?"
-
Na'im winces as Vinsidvals enormous hand encircles his entire forearm "Indeed!" He replies a it too loudly "To good health!" he raises his glass and drinks deeply with Vindisval so not to appear rude, but ends up coughing after taking too big a mouthful Na'im dabs around his mouth with a spotless hankercheif that we produces from inside his cloak "I do apologise for the misunderstanding master Vindisval, but the Wanderer...it is a most curious title for a deity to acheive, if I may say so myself-one would think that a deity should be constant and unwavering for his followers no? Why is this Wanderer of yours called such?" Na'im smiles gratefully at Boris for getting him out of a potentially sticky situation with the Zelaous paladin "Heard anytihng else from the Crescent union old friend?" he enquires "It seems a while since the elections took place."
-
Na'im saunters into the hall, visibly a lot more relaxed than he had been when he left for Spelesia all those months ago. He notices a package addressed to him which he picks up and inspects with gentle hands, and pockets his portion of loot. He had left Spelesia with mixed feelings about the dwarf, and he still felt as if he would never understand the little man's actions whilst they were there, but even so he would be sad to see the dwarf go-he would never say it to Mihnaks face, but he was still one of the best shots he had witnessed with a handcannon Na'im glances at the questboard, but struggles to muster any interest. A town in need of saving and the orcs getting into a tussle over diplomacy again. Maybe later, his ravenous hunger for gold would drive him to commit to one of these causes. It seemed nothing had changed in Olegia since he left, much like it had not in this hall, save for a few new faces. He heads over to the bar and flags a glass of Charisian red from Scheherazade and looks around the hall for any familiar faces. "My friends!" Na'im grins and heads over to the table where he spots several of his comrades from previous quests sitting "So good to see you in good health, lady Kiray after our arduous expedition to Speleisa-master Burehalv, it is good to see you are well too-master giant I don't believe we have met. I am Naim Suladec Se Thamir at your service." Naim extends a hand in Vindisvals direction-he does not seem at all fazed by the presence of an enormous giant across the table from him "And a Paladin none the less..." he muses "Let me guess: another one of Ennocs lackeys? For I have yet to meet a cleric in this hall who does not serve the lord of light-no offence master Burehalv." he adds

Definitly not! Thanks for the support Flipz-I just have to work out where to take his development from here now!

Its captain Metalbeard! Seriously though, that is quite a cool build!

First I should probably say congratulations! Making your very first hosted quest so grand in scope and scale must have been a momentous undertaking and I'm very impressed that you managed to get us all the way through to the conclusion I think all that could be said about the pacing and timing has already been said, so I feel no need to repeat it, except that it really did drag the mood towards the end of the quest Battles The battles looked very challenging to me (but most of them do in this game to me-I'm not much good at strategy! ), and I think we would have been in a lot of trouble if we didn’t have the minds of two of the most experienced players in the game behind us, so I think in actuality that they were fairly well balanced. Loot I'm a sucker for well-designed and unique loot, and there was a lot to love on this quest-I think my favourites were the custom armour sets in the Fenarian marketplace and Orein's book of demons (I think that is a great way of making a minion character by the way, since it is able to grow with the hero, in a similar way to a Dragoon's dragon!). Overall I am very pleased with what I got on this quest! . The story I'll echo what Goliath and KOTZ said…we did seem to get a little too far from the main story in places, and I will also add that some side plots did not really seem explored, given the length of the quest, for example the Creeds master plan and the whole Wyeth and Zoot thing (Or maybe that’s being saved for a sequel quest? ), and I have a few what if questions as well: If we delivered ourselves over to Oswain in the krimwood, and went straight to the capitol, what would have happened? And if quest 135 hadn't failed, would we have met the party at some point? The sets Goliath and KOTZ stole the words right out of my mouth. The sets were all incredible and the photography was even better! I can't remember one time when I was disappointed with the sets in the entire quest! The PCs Miderun: I really do like Miderun. She is one of the few Orcish characters we have around Heroica, which makes her quite unique and we definitely need more! I was surprised at how much she and Na'im agreed upon and Na'im would certainly not mind questing with her again. Mihnak: I like that you didn’t have Mihnak back down from his pro-star elf viewpoints, which seemed to be in contrast to most of the party-that was great character development for Mihnak. I will be sad to see Mihnak go, but I look forward to seeing what else you come up with: Any clues? Germ: Germ is as ever a wildcard and immensely funny to read-I can never predict what he will do next, or how he will react to a situation. That said, I would be careful not to take your actions too far, as shown in the Penitentiary, as it can have bad consequences for the party! But Germ is one of the few heroes Na'im would call a friend, and he would not mind questing with Germ again at all. Bobby: Bobby is quite hilarious to read, with all his slang and I like how you make sure to keep his voice consistent, which must make him a pain too write! That said, I would like to see a bit more development on where his new role as champion of Azzot takes him. Kiray: As the most-experienced person on the quest, Kiray adopted more of an advisory and background role trying her best to keep the party united, and it was nice to see this different side of Kiray's character, that I don't think we've seen beofre. Her interactions with Germ were nice as well. Naim: I really hope I haven't made Na'im too complicated with his whole new 'brotherhood of the red angel thing'. I have tried my best for a slow introduction to Na'ims past in the brotherhood, but with this quest being the last time Na'im may be in Fenario for a long time, I felt it was too good an opportunity to miss-but now I am cursing myself for bringing in this new aspect of Na'ims character too quickly! I do plan to make less of a big deal of this side of his character for the next few quests, but it will have a big impact on his AC decision (200 gold to anyone who can guess what that Is ) I'm glad other people like Na'im-though I won't deny that a lot of work goes into writing his every response! I really hate to leave someone’s comment or remark hanging, and that's why I try to reply to everything, which probaly makes all of my most posts look like walls of texts, but hey its an rpg, and whats an rpg without roleplaying!

Can celrics even wield swords? On a similar note what are peoples thoughts on the Nimbus broomstick: Nimbus Broomstick (WP:8, 1/2 chance to double damage/healing output on successful attack; Broomstick) Is it a potent enough weapon to make a build around, or should I try looking for another weapon to complment it?

Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone

"Hiding behind tall tales of doom and gloom your highness?" Na'im shakes his head "That is low indeed. Need I remind you, that some day, when you are ready, the real threat to Spelesia will still have to be fought. Nonetheless I suppose I should thank you for returning our companions and behaving more civilly than some of your henchmen." Na'im prepares to step through the portal, when he hears the red angels voice once more: This will be the last time you hear of me for a while Na'im Thamir-my strength decreases the further you go from Fenario, till I am nought but a memory in the back of your mind-but I trust you will not forget me-you may still hate me-but one day you will become the prophet I have forseen As Na'im steps through the portal he feels as if a great pressure has been lifted from him, and he feels more relaxed than he has since he first arrived on the shores of Spelesia "I wouldn’t be so sure master Van Cleef." says Na'im with a weary smile "Whenever you think Olegia is done with you, and that you have found true peace, you will always find it has something else to throw at you-such is the life we seem to lead." He finishes helplessly, but with a hint of bitterness behind his words that even he could not disguise "Send 80 gold pieces of my share to Bobby would you lady Miderun? I have no wish for this debt to carry on any longer than need be." Na'im bows his head "You are welcome master Van Cleef. It has been…an education, if nothing else-It seems aeons ago when we fought those werefolk over the blue nerkastone." he marvels Or maybe it had-he didn’t remember seeing a calendar since they embarked from the Eyrie-the thought unnerved him even more than the fact that he had shared a ship on the way herewith a demon priest "Now to business-master Germ, here is your scroll of blindness-miss Polly, I would have back my cape of the Uq and my potion back if you would be so kind-and master Van Cleef I would have my Opal back, as well, If you will." Na'im mentally ticks off his belongings with the efficiency of a money lender "Yes, I think that should be everything-I will see you all back at the hall I am sure." Na'im tips his hat to each of the heroes and sets off back to the hall by a more roundabout route-clearly he had more on his mind than he let on Naim takes one last look at the happy 'family' that he had helped reunite and feels a strange emotion-Happiness? Pride? Love? Curse it this job was making him soft-or perhaps the Red Angels morals were rubbing off on to him. He would have to ask Kiray if this was another side effect of the new career he had chosen… OOC: Thanks so much for hosting for us PJB! Its been one hell of a ride, and I have to say I have thourghly enjoyed it! Like Goliath, I will be posting my thoughts in the next few days. Could we have final stats as well at some piont? -

Na’ims eyes glitter as he stares at the Queen in a new light "It seems Lord Angmar was right." Na'im marvels "All these years, and you Star elves have not changed one bit-Olegia has changed since the days when the Alpeith and Fenari tore each other apart over Spelesia. The Aoi are no longer in charge in Xu while the human kingdoms around the Crystalline sea have become the dominant powers in Olegia. Moone has fallen, and Etheria and the Eversummer isles are fading into memory-Spelesia will be next, unless something is done. Lord Angmar recognises this, and that is why he saw the wisdom in letting outsiders into Fenario." "Now, After I was exiled from Fenario I walked the world for many years-and if I had a gold piece for every time somebody asked me how a vampire was able to last so long in broad daylight, then I would be able to retire! You see, Spelesian culture is fading dear Queen-we are fading into memory faster than sand from an hourglass-and you Star elves are only making the problem worse, by attacking and abducting outsiders, instead of working with them as equals to save this land." "You wonder why Shadir Oswain left with the blue nerkastone for Eubric-I say you need look no further than this ethereal dome that has become your entire world." Naim says cooly "Now be reasonable your highness, our party were forced into an alliance with the Fenarians through Lattes ineloquence and inability to still his sword arm. Now if he had treated us justly, as visitors and guests, then my colleauges and I would be speaking most reverently of him-We acted very reasonably give the circumstances." "You still do not see it do you? We Fenarians may be horribly disfigued and refuse to give up our source of power, but you would turn back the tide to the days before the great war-and olegia has moved on since then, which you do not see-your choice may not be as visible as for the Fenarians but it is a choice all the same; rot in the dome in perfect solitude for the rest of your days or embrace your position in the new Olegia, that is already at hand, on your very borders and setting up shop in Fenario-you can't hide here forver your highness." "Are we done here now, master Van Cleef?" Na’im says to Elnath "It is high time we sailed back to Eubric me thinks." -
Happy Easter to everyone in the RPG!

As Elnath hands over the Nerkastone Na'ims smile widens even more as if it were trying to escape his face, and his eyes grow hungry, but it all comes to nothing, and he lets the trnsaction occur. He wanted to strangle the ever clam Queen and slay all the Alpeith that dwelled in this fairy tale city-Make them feel the pain the Fenarians had to endure all those years living in fear in the dark, dank underground...perhaps this was the red angel messing with his thoughts, or it stemmed from seeing the contrast between the hovels of Fenario and elagence of the capitol, but It did not matter either way-his anger and blood thirstyness was still very real. "Perhaps I wasn’t only referring to the security of the sealed capitol your highness-we have enemies both within and outside these walls." Na'im says softly "And pray, do enlighten me your highness." Na'im says twirling the nimbus broomstick between his fingers "…Does Latte Oswain's role involve more than beating and then torturing any wretched soul, that has the misfortune of not being a star elf that happens to find themselves stranded in the wastes of Spelesia-for he certinaly excels at that." Na'im says his tone brodering on sarcasm Na'im sniffs "I wasn’t under the impression that marching one’s guests half to death was Spelesian custom your highness-we are dead on our feet, even if my companions are too polite to say it." "Tell me, how long have you been holding the Lannisters as insurance for our compliance dear Queen-we told the Lannisters to sail south to a Baltarok port, and yet here they are on your doorstep and under your protection which no one here requested. You should know, that as master Van Cleef's body gaurds it is our duty to ensure the safety of his servants as well-and the Lannisters cerinaly fall into that category. One word of any mistreatment dear Queen...." Na'im breaths deeply -

Na'im shakes his head, his eyes wide "Even though you spent 90 gold to help make up the cost of that Shamanic plate back in Fenario-and to think I could have gotten away with just letting it pass!" -

Na'im nods in thanks to Miderun and shoves his share of gold into Bobby's hands "A good Fenarian never forgets his debts." he says with a wink He then gives Germ a wierd look "You never did strike me as much of a cross-dresser master Germ..." Na'im sniffs indinnantly "Well, I am not the one who was screaming at my supposed allies, with enough force to frighten away a flock of birds, for failing to save one of my own, when I was just as capable of spending a few precious seconds out of battle to administer a phoenix eccense as they were, and neither do I claim to be articuarly adept with sword or bow-besides was it not you, the great Latte Oswain, who was reduced to a snivelling fool when attempting to persudae lord Fenari to hand over the brown Nerkastone ot the gaurdians?" Na'im says with a smug smile Na'im exhales in relief, and bows his head again "You are wise indeed then, Lord Fenari. Your asisstance in defeating the demon Orein is much apppreaciated, even if not all of my colleauges seem to agree-I cannot say we could have done it without you and your men." "And Lord Fenari...I am sorry about your son...I fear he was lost in the lost path along with the sorcerer Wyeth, after a cave in. I do not claim to have known him well, but you have my sympathies." Na'im says bowing his head respectfully Naim returns Eckmar's handshake, his expression pleasent enough but he flares with anger inside. Was it his doom to always be considered righteous, whenever he tried his hardest not to be? He abhorred being righteous! Acting righteous alaways seemed to give people the impression you were some kind of hero and if you could not dleiver on that, people would always grow hurt and ask why. Much better to act cynical and to surprise people with the odd act of kindness-to keep then guessing as it were "Untill we meet again master Eckmar." Na'im agrees "Stay well." "Well it certainly appeases me-a few gold coins can go a long way to forgiveness you know Master Van Cleef" Na'im says dryly Naim glares at Narie "You! Do not think I do not know your plan miss Alpeith-your late friend Major El-Aquist was kind enough to leave his papers lying around-if I could still feel my legs after this ardous march, I would be dragging you back to the dungeons of Fenario by your stringy hair for what you and the rest of your friends in the Creed planned to do to Fenario!" Naim growls venomosly, then turns and marches though the portal Naim manages a stiff bow, more of a nod reallly, his smile obviously forced, even for a man experienced in hiding his emotions "What master Van Cleef means to say is that he wishes to speak with you, while we heroes of Heroica, are but his bodyguards, here to see that protocol is observed and to ensure his safety, in territory that may or may not be hostile, given that we have hardly got off on the right foot with your servant, General Oswain." Na'im interjects his voice dripping with unpleasentness Na'im accepts Miderun's tonic, quickly drinks it, and steps forward as the Queen requests, then turns his back on her, and heals the party to full health, in the most open expression of defiance he dared to muster in front of the queen -

"Righteous." says Na'im quietly, a wry smile tugging at the corners of his mouth "I cannot say I have ever been called that before...no, not righteous young master Bucks, only learned enough to know that there is a difference between holding power and having power. But yes, the end is in sight now-only into the den of the beast and out the other side." -

A muscle twitches in Na’ims jaw "Are we not allowed opinions now Master Van Cleef? We all made reasonable points. We are not your blind followers, after all like miss Polly and-" Na'im stops himself from bringing the wereraccons name into the debate "-the Lannisters but your allies and bodygaurds." "It is a shame that they cannot back up their temper and insolence with martial prowess," Naim remarks at the retreating backs of the guardians "Or all Olegia would be in awe of the strength of the guardians of Krimwood." "Ah Lord Angmar, your offer gladdens my heart, truly it does, but I am afraid I must decline…I was once told, long ago, that real power does not lie on the shoulders of those who are bound down upon thrones and offices of power. Make of that what you will…besides I doubt I have the patience for sitting around debating tables for hours on end, discussing grain shortages and the like, but I hope you will still consider me a close friend and ally of Fenario if you ever come to making any…important decisions surrounding Fenario in the future...My lord." Na'im says with a small smile, that gives nothing away "And if I ever grow tired of the life of a mercenary, then-" Na’ims voice cracks for a moment "-then I will take solace in the fact that there is always a place waiting for me in Fenario…my home." After everything he had been through, he had never expected to be forgiven for all the chaos and destruction he had caused that last fatal night in Fenario when he was forced into exile, but this seemed to be the closest thing he would ever get to a revoking of his banishment-it seemed almost too good to be true-but he could not accept. He was not Na'im the corrupt cleric, nor Na'im the vindictator any more, but a hero now whatever that may mean. He may have been imagining it but he swore he heard the Red angel's voice murmuring its approval in his head Good, there is still hope in you yet Na'im Thamir-you have shown yourself able to turn down power in its many forms, and this was not your place, nor your time-together Na'im we will do great things "Is this goodbye then master Eckmar? Na'im asks extending a hand "Keep up the good fight old friend, and though I may be a recognised cleric no more, but I can still wish all the blessings and happiness on you and Lady Bain." Na'im claps his hands "Well, It has taken us a fair while to reach this piont has it not master Van Cleef? We seem to have gone full circle-first we fought the star elves bitterly, now we are walking right into their outstretched arms!" Na'im sighs "I suppose someone must make sure those greedy star elves do not take more from you than is required." Na'im says gloomily "I will follow you to the end Master Van Cleef." Na'im breaths deeply "One last stretch indeed master Van Cleef-I just hope you have not forgotten the payment you promised us at the start of the quest-most other mercenaries would be demanding hazard pay by now, since this quest has not exactly followed the path I would desire." Na'im says casually, but with a hint of bitterness in his voice -

Na'im smies lopsidedly "Always the pessimist aren’t you lady Nayasto? Is that what all these quests and all these battles have done to you? "Good minds think alike it seems Lady Nayasto." Na'im says clapping Kiray on the shoulder "I know some collectors in Slamanda who would pay a pretty price for those stones, but alas I fear that if we did try to take the Nerkastones from this place then there would be uproar, and we would find ourselves the focus for the wrath of not only the Star elves, but the Gaurdians and Fenarians as well." Na'im snorts with amusement at Mihnaks comment "No offence taken master Mihnak-I just hope you know what you are doing here-I dont think you want a Fenarian as your enemy." Na'ims eyes dart between Lord Angmar and Mihnak as if this was some exciting tennis match -

I won't deny that book does look quite nice, but then again, I have already got some pretty good loot this quest, so I'll let other people pick first Naims eyes flash with irritation "Watch the boots!" he snarls "Those are made from cured Enki hide-imported straight from Klama I'll have you know-as if you actually know where that is!" he say scathingly "Now I did not ask for the feline to accompany us in the first place, and since I could neither communicate with, nor understand him, he was little more than a tool in my eyes, to harass and disorientate our opponents. Do you mourn your spear when it snaps? Your shield when it buckles in combat? If feel nothing for his death Lord Marx, and no matter how many times you curse and spit at us that will not change." Naim says coldly "...But perhaps you are angry because you did nothing to save him either, when clearly you could of-trying to cover up your guilt with anger-very smart." muses Na'im "Still, at least there is one thing we can agree on; if there is one thing I have learnt in my time as part of this organisation, and I have yet to see anoyne suggest otherwise, it is that we heroes of heroica are mere mercenaries-did do you expect more from an organisation that anyone off the streets of Eubric can join? I am so terribly sorry to dissapoint you lord Marx, but it seems clear to me that the name of our organisation was invented by a man who read too many romantic epics in his spare time." Na'im smiles and shakes his head at his own joke "But I have I have no issues with being a mercenary, of course." Na’im smiles at General Oswains repeated attempts to gain the upper hand in the negotiations, but there is no warmth in his smile only cruel joy, at seeing their enemy being reduced to a pompous stammering fool "And since when have star elf laws ever applied in Fenarian territory general? That is what this whole debacle is about, no?" Naim does not wait for the general to reply but spreads his hands out wide and addresses everyone present "It seems obvious to me that the nerakstone should go to the fenarians-the have spent too long eking out a survival on next to nothing underground and they deserve better-they deserve to be safe and to know where there next meal is coming from. Is that not fair and just general?" Na’im shoots at Oswain -

Na'im glares daggers at Polly "Another mess up eh miss Polly? Tell me are you even on our side-first you get yourself knocked out, and now you incur this demons wrath on our party! Do I need to remind you again that this isn't the Toren who you once knew and loved like a brother?" [quote name='samuraiturtle' timestamp='1456058452' post='2478998' I do not get you. Why didn't you just "dope up" Elnath and the others and take the "stone". If you did it right, they would of wake up three days later, you and the "stone" would of been gone, and no one would be the wiser about any of it. So, what is the plan here? He looks at his "smelling salts" I thought I used this up. I got some Remedy(s) here, should I use it on someone(s)? As he gets ready to use some Consumables up, or should I use this Human Repellent. "If I am perfectly honest master Germ, I could hardly care less about the demon's master plan, and I am simply quite glad he did not decide to pilfer the stone from under our noses earlier," Na'im interjects bluntly "For at least now we have a..." Na'im swallows and looks at the party realising quite how dire their situation was "...well a quite pathetic chance really, of stopping him." he concludes frantically "What we really need master Germ is to get lady Kiray unminimised so hopefully she can take out this demon in one fell swoop-he is the real problem here, but we will also need someone else to hold off that serpent abomination, and then the rest of us can gang up on the remainder of the weresnakes, without too much difficulty. Perhaps a remedy to Kiray and young master Bucks?"
