Another innovative project in the style of Elon Musk. Flights into space will be soon so cheap that larger schools will be able to afford such a bus for launching satellites. The bus is inspired by Blue Bird vehicles. I focused more on a neat combination of technical panels than on the exact reproduction of the original. After all, it was about building a vehicle that was only supposed to pretend to be a bus. For this reason, I also had no qualms about using black panels and yellow stickers instead of building posts on the windows. Tilting sides had to be made of panels because with the length of the model almost 70cm and competition restrictions on the number of engines I could not overdo it with weight. To build the frame I reached for the solution I used earlier in my URAL 5920 light rigid and with a small thickness of 3 studs. On the frame is mounted a transfer gearbox consisting of two worm gears and gears that reduce the speed at the engine input and accelerate at the output on linear actuators. It took me a lot of work to choose the gears in such a way that using only one engine to achieve simultaneous closing of the side sides, a rocket with a roof and tailgate. The key to success was the use of six pairs of z36 and z12 gears connected in the side lifting mechanism so that they could be moved apart throughout the construction period. This solution enabled a very precise calibration of the closing process of all 4 elements. When I succeeded, I added a mechanism for lifting and rotating the cabin, both based on worm gears. Finally, I built a steering mechanism, a V12 engine and retractable stop signs, also on the screws. So the model has as many as 6 worm gears, my record. The sides after full opening adhere perfectly to the ground and form a very stable starting platform, so there was no need to install additional supports. The mechanism of lifting the rocket after full opening activates the light brick, such a gadget imitating ignition. When the operator's cabin is turned in the take-off position, you can still quickly close the rocket to protect it from bad weather conditions. The whole weight of 3 kg is 70 cm long and 16.5 cm wide and holds the proportions of the Blue Bird bus, maybe it is too wide by one stud. I did not manage to reproduce the rear bumper because the moving elements overlap and I had to fit there the "hand of God" to control. I decided to start in the competition on December 20, the model was created basically in two Christmas weeks, then I was just refining the details and looking for the missing bricks

I am pleased to inform you that the manual for my Tow Truck 8462 Reincarnation is now available on Rebrickable. LEGO MOC Tow Truck 8462 Reincarnation by Samolot77 | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO Thanks to my colleague SaperPL without whom it would never have been created. There have been slight changes in the model, it now has a slightly larger suspension travel, the steering wheel automatically returns to the right position when tilting the cabin, differentials of the old type have been added to the drive, in a few places I strengthened the structure. I also built an orange version of the vehicle you can see it on my Facebook

The model is very well built. You can see the diligence of execution. Great details. But it does not hold the proportions of the original. The front is too long. The rear door post is too thick. The front lights are too big. From the side, it looks more like an Audi Quattro than like a BMW. The whole makes a caricature impression. You can see that you put a lot of work into it. -

A cool machine pretty well reproduced mechanics. But it looks a bit unfinished. However, I would try with lime colour. Now there are enough panels available to build this model. It seems to me that outriggers could work faster. I would add a pair of panels 5 and 6 on the crane arm. It is very close to the great MOC -
And I think of course the contest should be frontpaged. This time in the competition there are a lot of small models. Such models can be built even by people who do not have a large number of elements. And if we want to attract new builders. This is the best opportunity to popularize our Lego Technic forum.

This is how the official b model for this set should look like. Well done.

Scale Modeling Forum future?
Samolot replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I believe that the SMF forum should remain for models without motors, mechanics and Technic interior. Because where should scale models of planes, helicopters or cars be published. The Technic and Model team forum should remain for technic and model team models as the name suggests. So if the model has mechanical functions, suspension steering system, fake engine, drivetrain, pneumatics, should be published in the technic and model team section. -
[MOC] Kettenkrad
Samolot replied to Samolot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it's just not fair to send models like Kettenkrad or Willys to the Scale modelling forum. The remote-controlled model that moves has a suspension, complex mechanics is not the same as the system bricks model on the shelf. Especially in a situation where, as I understand it, the decision was made to liquidate this section of the forum. Anyway, Kettenkrad might as well land in the Star Wars section or Action Figures one. I've spent a lot of time mechanizing this model, and that's what I'm most proud of. The appearance and dimensions of the model were just a limitation of where you should fit in. I'm just happy that before the transfer the model managed to spend a few days on the Technic forum and collect some comments. -
Thanks. My thinking about this model has also evolved. At first, I didn't assume changing wheels at all. It was obvious to me that the old wheels are the most characteristic element of the model. But when I added white air tanks and a white boom, the white wheels also made sense. And these new tires have something futuristic in them.
