  1. It is for steering mechanism.
  2. I maybe was not clear, - no, axles are not rubbing drums, but they are close, and there is no place to add some connectors on them. The main challenging thing is, that modern rollers have pretty thin side plates, that connect drum to chassis, and I don't know yet how to recreate that with technic parts. As I mentioned before, I was considering 7x11 frame for that road roller, but it is somehow too wide. It doesn't look good with it. For some generic asphalt roller, just as standard lego set, maybe it would be OK.
  3. Agree. But I don't have those small panels in yellow. So maybe I was then littlebit lasy and just finished it. The same story is about fake engine. That was not significant for this project. And I could fit something that is 3L there, and it even sits on beam, which is structural element You mean this steering wheel? In fact, I didn't knew, that I have them :) Now I know. Need to find it. There are somewhere 3 of them in the house. Not in my sorted parts, but somewhere in kids room. Seat. I was thinking pretty long about it. There is pretty high already T-beam 3x3. Just side pins are free. Maybe somehow I could out in the middle this And then maybe I could fit some brick, there, that looks like a seat. Thank You for productive discussion!
  4. I built it lego group style @SaperPL - You are free to anounce whole list Thank You all! Started to think about asphalt roller. Thought that I could use something like this but axles are too close to those wheels. Yes, that can be used as those roller cleaners (or something), but I can't use those axles to add connectors.
  5. Got these parts. They are fifty shades of grey. No surprise, lego does best they can. https://rebrickable.com/parts/68327/wheel-41-x-15/ because seemed best for some roller. When it came out (2020), I thought, that we really could expect some road/asphalt roller. If not in technic, then in city or some other. OK, for city theme it is somehow too big, I suppose. When I started to build, I understood, that for technic it is somehow too small. But I managed to build something. Some asphalt tandem roller could be easier (will try that next), as I needed to find some matching wheels for rear. That was somehow challenging. But here it is (sorry, not the best pictures, as it is snowing in my photo studio), even with some functions - HOG steering, articulating roller, openable hood, and some really fake engine. I was thinking to implement some fake engine, but could not get together it with steering. Roller frame (or something) was also challenging. After some thinking this seemed best solution. On option was also 7x11 frame, in which those wheels fit really good, just it is even one stud wider. And then it doesn't look so good anymore and there are too big gaps between side and roller. HOG I put behind cabin, which mimics air filter as on some original rollers. Rear hood is openable, and there is very fake engine
  6. There will be discounts at some point soemwhere. And 150 is pretty realistic.
  7. Now create transforming vehicle from this for contest :)
  8. It uses gears, last iteration is this, where between both 28t gears is 12t gear (one stud on side), and then with those upper 2 12t gears it is reversed for correct HOG steering.
  9. Front part shaping is really interesting. I like this truck!
  10. Changed those connectors. Tow truck is now missing something :) Between snowing and raining in my photo studio, took better pics. As mentioned before, that steering wheel inside cabin also is working. In fact, whole build is based around one 15L beam.
  11. Has this been Bateriju bloks 88015 | Powered UP | Oficiālā LEGO® internetveikala LV I see, that it is some year old. Somehow missed.
  12. Looks good, and I like how You used wheel arches. I would improve front axle. It is really fragile for this scale, I suppose. Is there also real build?
  13. Thnak You! Somehow for me seemed better, as it not stand out. Thank You! I think I did my best. It looks, that I have two of them, they are just in set, which I recently built, so I didn't found them.
  14. Final steering system, and yes, there is also working steering wheel in cabin Idea of rotating cabin was abandoned. Now it is evening and I don't have photostudio, so some prelimanary pics. All 3 steering modes Yes, steering is not perfect, as there is play in gears and other parts of steering mechanisms etc. But it works. Steering modes are changed by changing position of that axle with red bush. Littlebit trickier as on original. I made also openable hood This part to connect counterweight and front lights is used by purpose, so that front hood could fall in that hole, and it is not horisontal.
  15. Really incredible. Would be good thing to watch, while drinking ... something.
  16. Stuck with other (long) projects. Returned to this, as I remembered, that I have those new 28t gears. Created prototype Again, it is hard to put it between wheels, so one of axles prototypes as I needed to free space close to axle, to put there gear Then I realised, that I need to reverse steering for front axle. I used axle as one of gears. And then there's prototype Axle connect really good with that 28t gear, it is somehow illegal, but it works Put first full chassis together and then there I see issue. I tried to downgear front, but it was not enough. So I need to connect those 28-20-28 gears directly, and then try to somehow reverse steering for HOG. If someone noticed, in last prototype I used flip-flop beam, but I can't use it in model, as there is 4L distance between 28t and 20t gears.
  17. Wanted to continue, found issue And then there is almost issue, it somehow works, and, when in some gear, in not touches the gears but it is not good. I'm afraid, I need to redesign gearbox etc.
  18. It looks good, functions are lot. No wonder it took 5 years.
  19. Main principle is the same.
  20. I think, I will try to make some beta version of whole car. Then, maybe, will think of HOG steering.
  21. FInally had time. Added steering. No ideas for HOG steering, as gear lever is in the way pretty much. And I don't want to put it on the front hood. Simply put one spare tire in the front, as I remember, that it should be there. At least in some cases it was there on original car. Just don't know yet, if it will fit in front. Some really small change - white rims in front.
