  5. With 3 cars they do crash into each other (as shown on Bodville video) where the magnets pass close. In my video one has been pushed into a dead spot where the chains go in and out. This happens now and again so I just pick it up and put it back on the path of the chain The show display is all mine, part of my 25 years of collecting, 1000+ sets. The 8 x 16 tile information is found here on Bricklink

  9. Last year I wanted to build dodgems (bumper cars) for my Taupo hobby show. With permission from Dave at Bodville I designed my version of his creation. I super glued the magnets to cut technic tractor tread links. I have a large LEGO shop display aquarium which has a chain of links with a few technic tractor tread links in the lid supporting fish on nylon lines. This used cogs and wheels which I copied. One wheel is on a spring to keep tension on the chain when one of the technic tractor tread link passes a wheel. I also used 8 large 8 x 16 plates on a baseplate for the surface. The setup was very reliable and ran for 2 days with no problems.
  10. Bought the set today at 15% off. I really like both the limo and the helicopter. So much so, that I think I will get another set for my city. Made one mod, replaced the axles with these so the wheels don't stick out.
  11. On the road plates I use the studded area as car parks (with grey parking meters and white tiles as the dividing lines between parks) and the painted path as a cycle lane. This works out well with Cafe-corner style buildings. See picture below.
  12. I use LEGO baseplates from 1986 that are grey with grey roads for city scenes and I use LEGO baseplates from 1997 that are green with grey roads for countryside scenes. I have decided to stick with these as I'm sick of LEGO changing the colours all the time City: Countryside:
