  1. 2020 was honestly one of the worst years for LEGO Star Wars in a long time, 2021 sounds like a breath of fresh air. No battlepack in this wave is fine, LEGO as a company isn’t stupid enough to get rid of those. They’ll be back eventually. Microfighters sound good as always, I’m sure the taun taun will turn out to be one of the best models of the year much like the dewback and bantha. Another Falcon is fine, it’ll give kids a chance to get Han. Hopefully they mean the Solo version of Han with his brown jacket so the price of the figure comes down. Couldn’t care less about the 4+ x wing but hopefully the gaps in the sides of cockpit are filled in this time and the ship looks complete. Intrigued by the mando set just like everyone else here. The helmets and the statue are bound to be good, only time will tell what sets we get from these. Fingers crossed for Vader’s helmet. I’ve been saying for years that LEGO needs to downsize the sets like TIE Fighters and X-Wings. They’d sell so much better than they do now if they weren’t $100+ each. Builds like the Slave I from Cloud City and the TIE Advanced from Vader’s castle are perfect for what they are (and quite honestly should be their own sets), so if the X-Wing, TIE and Shuttle are anything like these models then they’ll be golden. Probably won’t be buying them as I already have x-wings and TIEs (and am only interested in a UCS shuttle) but it’s great that kids will finally have these iconic ships at an affordable price point. Very interested to see how the sets turn out. Everyone here needs to stop complaining about rereleases and remember that we’re not the target audience for these sets. It happens every wave. Grow up and be thankful that you’ll be saving yourself some money. Now that I know I won’t want to buy a lot of next year’s sets I might actually get the cantina this year.
  2. LEGO FINALLY releases a scale lightsaber model and it’s a goddamn GWP I’m glad the price for the cantina is only $530 AUD but that’s far too much. I’m no Harry Potter fan but Diagon Alley offers much better value for $70 more with 2000 more pieces and architecture that goes beyond being a beige box. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the cantina didn’t need this type of treatment. The cantina itself, as iconic of a scene that it is, not much happens there. Luke gets into a bar fight, some stuff goes down in Han’s booth and that’s it. This set achieves nothing that the 2014 set didn’t except for more figures. Great to see all the new figures but they could’ve turned up in a battle pack, landspeeder set, a smaller cantina etc. I would’ve liked to see a duros or some other figures that could be done with existing parts over Kabe, because let’s be honest here, this Kabe figure is terrible. But one dud figure out of 20 isn’t a reason to not buy a set and at least it’s something new. Happy for those who will be getting this set but unless I can find a considerable discount on it I will be passing.
  3. I’d be surprised if you could make space for a figure to stand up without taking away from the space underneath but a second seating area is probably possible. As much space and there is underneath, figures only just get by without scraping their heads. IG-11 barely fits as is, if it weren’t for the roof being hollow he wouldn’t have room to stand.
  4. My bad, from memory I thought it was about 2200 pieces. Still, $500 for a beige box... yikes.
  5. The interior is very bland, expected much more space. Hopefully the bar part is removable. I hate to think what the price is going to be. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it be $700. At the very least it’ll be $600, and at that price I’d much rather buy Diagon Alley (despite only ever seeing half of the first Harry Potter movie and absolutely hating it). Even if we get lucky and it’s priced at $500 like Bespin (even though it has 1000 more pieces) that’s still too much for what it is. Will be waiting for heavy discounts on this, otherwise it’ll be the first Star Wars D2C I skip in years.
  6. Agreed. Blows every other set released this year completely out of the water. The Razor Crest is no substitute for the gunship, it’s not even close. The Crest has a fair bit of space but the gunship has more. The gunship is bigger, more interesting build, much more play value. My only complaint for the Crest is that it can be hard for my adult sized hands to fit underneath, the gunship is too big to have that issue. The only reason you would want to get the Razor Crest over the gunship IMO is for Baby Yoda, who will no doubt be appearing in more sets in the future. I have to say though, if you can afford the 2013 gunship now you will be able to afford the UCS set when it gets released. The gunship has appreciated a lot in the last few years. If you’re in the market for a gunship I would hold off.
  7. Maybe I’ll change my mind when I see the pictures of the interior and get confirmation on the Australian price. If the scenes can be disconnected into individual vignettes then it may change my mind. I don’t see why the cantina deserves the UCS treatment when the 2014 set was more than enough. They could’ve achieved a similar result with a fraction of the pieces. If this set was a full on mos eisley spaceport with a couple buildings and side builds like the speeder I think it would’ve been so much better.
  8. I’m guessing it’ll be $700. Cloud city was $500, the Death Star is currently $800, this one’s piece count falls exactly in the middle of the two.
  9. I can’t believe I hit the nail on the head with this. It’s just a big beige box without a roof. Good to see Garindan, the return of the dewback and all the other alien figures... at least the landspeeder isn’t Luke’s again. Will not be surprised to see this set follow in the footsteps of Assault on Hoth and Cloud City, heavy discounts very early on and a quick retirement.
  10. As expected, Mos Eilsey has a landspeeder Will wait for official photos but this is going to be an easy pass. Maybe if I find it on sale. Rerelease the imperial shuttle you cowards!
  11. Just built the Razor Crest... really don’t get the complaints now. The build was really fun, there’s lots of play features, decent figures and a good selection of parts. “There’s too much space!!!” is a ridiculous complaint, it’s a transport ship and all of that space is empty in the TV show anyway. Definitely my favourite set of the year. My only complaint is the figures... and it’s not about Mando. I don’t care that he doesn’t have the beskar, and quite frankly I prefer it this way. There’ll be plenty of other chances to get that figure, this figure has only been in the AT-ST which is really hard to find here in Australia. I haven’t seen it in a single store since it’s initial release, nobody has restocked it. I wish it had included a second scout trooper, especially since this is only the second time the new helmet mould has appeared. It might have been good to see two death troopers instead. Cara Dune should also have been in this set. If not Cara, maybe Toro Calican. I don’t get why a $200 set only has 3 proper minifigures when a $50 ninjago set can have 9. Maybe adding extra named characters ups the licensing costs, paying royalties to the actors, but I don’t see why adding in a second anonymous trooper is too much to ask for. I also would’ve liked to see the Han in Carbonite piece be used for the bounties instead of the 1x2x5 bricks with stickers. Designing a new print for the Han piece would’ve been enough to make it look like a different person. I definitely recommend the razor crest to anyone thinking about getting it.
  12. Just picked up the Razor Crest, $170 at KMart. Not sure if they’re actually meant to be on shelves yet or if they’re already sold out, a friend of mine gave me the heads up that they came in and put one aside for me. I haven’t built it yet but it’s sad to see the people here do a 180 on their opinions now that people have the set in hand. I haven’t been disappointed by a lego set (that I’ve bought) in a long time so I hope this isn’t the first.
  13. Neat figure for the deluxe edition but such a waste of a polybag. No Rebel Friend or Beach Trooper, riot time. Don’t understand why it’s not Last Jedi Luke with green milk all over his face, as much as I hated that movie seeing this just screams “missed opportunity”. Looking forward to the game, LEGO games just get better and better over time and I have little doubt that this game won’t be good. Very interested in the new versions of the levels for episodes 1-7 and curious to see what they’ve done with 9. Maybe the shot of Vader from Rogue One in the trailer is the first level of episode 4? The original game from 2005 has a bonus level where you play as Vader and a Stormtrooper boarding the Tantive IV, I wonder if they’ve taken that idea and expanded upon it. If I were to design a level for the first scene of ANH, I’d take a bit of creative liberty with it. Play as stormtroopers for most of the level, until you find R2 with the plans... then you play as Vader mowing down rebels while R2 runs for the escape pod.
  14. Pretty sure it was a Target exclusive in the US as well.
  15. It bothers me greatly. Maybe I like Star Wars too much, but some nights I’m kept awake by the thoughts of what could’ve been. The people in charge screwed up the moment they threw away George’s story treatments. They approached the film as if it was Space Avengers. It was already obvious when they said they were going to tie together the stories of all 9 films, despite the first 2 trilogies being their own things and not having much of an overall story. The entire third act was just a marvel movie, not even a final lightsaber duel. The nail in the coffin was when Palpatine said “I am inevitable” and Rey replied with “I am Iron Man”.
  16. The UCS snowspeeder just popped up on S@H again in the UK
  17. What happened to that rumour of a buildable Baby Yoda? Was that legit or just MandR trying to gain brownie points again?
  18. Landspeeder. LEGO loves the landspeeder almost as much as they love snowspeeders.
  19. Don’t get me wrong, the playsets are good sets. Assault on Hoth is actually one of my favourite sets of all time. But with both Hoth and Cloud City retiring earlier than expected, as well as the Death Star on the way out, I’m really surprised that LEGO would attempt another playset like this so soon. I don’t imagine this set looking very appealing, probably just a box that folds out. Will not be surprised if it ends up being a bunch of pods on hinges like the smaller versions they’ve already made. I wouldn’t put it past LEGO to forego putting a roof on the building just so there’s enough pieces to include another landspeeder. The figures will be good no doubt, it will be good to get more Biths and the like on the market, but if Ponda Baba is the only new mould that will be very disappointing. Do doubt we’ll be seeing Jawas or Tusken Raiders to pad out the figures. Hopefully the Ithorian and Dewback moulds return. LEGO would have to do something big, like include a Bantha or Owen and Beru to make me want to get it day one. Very disappointed that the shuttle rumour didn’t pan out, especially since the source that said that usually gets their info right. That’s one of the best sets LEGO’s ever released and the aftermarket prices are insane.
  20. Another cantina?? What is LEGO thinking?!? These massive playsets have proven to be flops. Where’s the Lambda rerelease? Will wait to see photos but will almost definitely be waiting for a massive discount on it, the 2014 version is enough for me. Might even forego the set altogether and just bricklink the figures for a change.
  21. All signs point to the 2HY D2C being a shuttle at this point, I think it was the brothers brick who posted the initial confirmation.
  22. Not to mention that half the time they’re not even hints, they’re just comments that people take the wrong way. I won’t be surprised if the original commenter comes back in a week just to say that they never hinted at a cantina set.
  23. I still prefer the black heads from 2012 as I hate seeing the skin tone poke out through the armour but this is definitely a welcome improvement over Angry Clone.
  24. I really hope that's true. I also expected a rerelease of the shuttle sometime in the future but if it's really this soon... I missed it the first time and there's no way I'm paying $700+ for it on the secondary market. The last set is pretty solid, I don't see the design changing much, if at all. Maybe a fix to the landing gear? As long as it's as big as the first one I will be happy. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come with less figures than last time. In addition to the new UCS rumor there's also this: http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/LEGO_Looking_Into_Yodas_Crystal_Ball_187182.asp
  25. Gonna throw out a couple guesses for the 2HY D2C: Playscale Venator, akin to the Tantive IV from last year. Hopefully a bit larger than the 60cm long ships we've been getting for years while still being "affordable" Ewok Village re release Echo Base/large Hoth set. Not that we need another one but it's about time we got one. Hopefully with a large shield generator. Obviously will include a snowspeeder. Mos Espa Podrace - modern re-imagining of the original 1999 set D2Cs I think are likely in the near future: TIE Bomber - we already know that this model has been considered for a UCS set Nebulon B - It's just a question of time before we see this set UCS Naboo fighter - hasn't been done at a large scale before and if LEGO decides to branch out into prequel era UCS sets the sleek yellow design of this ship would be an excellent addition to the current UCS range Eta-2 Actis Interceptor T-70 X-Wing TIE Interceptor remake - the 2000 model is incredibly dated TIE Advanced remake - again the old model is dated T-65 X Wing remake - the last model is great but there is still plenty of room for improvement. Newer UCS collectors will definitely want to add an X-Wing to their collection. Rereleases of the Executor, Imperial Shuttle, Slave I and R2-D2. All fan favorite models that have prices rising on the secondary market. My most wanted D2C: Modular building style Coruscant. Coruscant city block akin to the Ninjago City D2Cs. I image it being like 2 buildings on the same baseplate, with a walkway in between. Dex's Diner as the base of one building and Outlander Club as the base of the other. Palpatine's office at the top of one tower, Padme's apartment at the top of the other. Generic Coruscant things in the middle of the towers with plenty of greebling and walkways for figures to stand on, even a landing platform for a speeder. Includes both Anakin and Zam's airspeeders. And of course a generous selection of figures to populate it, like the Death Star this would be a great opportunity to include figures from both Episodes II and III. I'm thinking Episode II and III Anakin and Padme, Episode II Obi-Wan, Palpatine, Mace Windu, Saesee Tinn, Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, Mas Ameda, Dexter Jetsterr, FLO, Jango Fett, Zam Wessell, 2 Couruscant Guard clones (ideally with Phase I and II helmets) and couple extra figures like aliens or droids to fill out the scenes.
