  1. Let’s hope that’s a prelim photo of the shuttle figs. I doubt Luke would have a blue saber in the set, LEGO has never made a mistake like that in 20+ years. Here’s hoping for arm printing on Vader. For the Ideas poll, I voted for the shark from Jaws. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Star Wars has had enough attention from LEGO, move onto new IPs... for the brickheadz at least. I’m hoping that the Star Wars votes can’t agree on a character and one of the others wins it. No surprise that MandR is pushing for Jar Jar, of course he wants a brickheadz set of himself.
  2. Red Leader + alternate plates to make it his X-Wing like they did in 2018 and 2012 with Biggs and Jek would’ve been awesome... though I do like seeing the main characters pop up in more sets, especially someone like Leia who is criminally under represented compared to Han and Luke.
  3. Wasn’t Hobbie in the 2017 UCS snowspeeder? I don’t remember who those figures were but they had unique helmets.
  4. Massive step in the right direction for LEGO Star Wars here. Sets were getting too many parts for smaller builds, the value for money had really gone down in the last few years. I still reckon they can get these sets smaller and more affordable, anyone who says that they’d be “too small” can go away because they are toys. As long as you can fit the figures in and they don’t look out of place the ships are the right size. My dream is that one day we’ll see a line of sets akin to the TIE Advanced in the Death Star. Anyone else notice that the X-Wing doesn’t have its landing gear retracted on the box? I hope that they didn’t remove that play feature.
  5. Yes but how often do the January sets turn up in December? I had this year’s X-Wing and TIE before Christmas 2019 and I’m pretty sure they were January 2020 releases.
  6. On mobile, can’t spoiler tag, but I agree that that would be a good set. Seeing that really makes me want LEGO to do an all out Mando wave and that could be the biggest set of the lot. Much like Clone Wars and Rebels, The Mandalorian just keeps getting better as time goes on. When I first watched Rebels I thought that Filoni did a great job of laying the groundwork in earlier episodes for a balls-to-the-wall season finale. This is just solidifying that. He really knows how to play the long game. Yes, I know the show is written by Favreau but it really feels like Filoni is calling the shots here.
  7. I hope that Mando crashing his ship becomes the show’s running joke
  8. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA What is she supposed to do, wear something that doesn’t fit her properly and won’t keep her safe? Where were these idiots when The Armourer debuted last year? Or better yet, where were they 10 years ago when Bo was introduced? RE: the age thing. I just chalked that up to Bo being in peak physical condition, as well as the helmet protecting her skin from sunlight. Not too much of a stretch, especially if you assume she’s the same age as Ahsoka. I really don’t mind, I’m just happy to see the cartoon characters make the transition to live action, especially in this case. For one Bo Katan is nothing short of a badass and Star Wars needs more characters like her, and for two they’ve been itching to bring her into live action since her debut.
  9. Where on twitter can I find this? I need a good laugh.
  10. Where are you seeing this? I’ve only seen nothing but love for Bo, maybe it’s in circles where they’ve never seen the cartoons? She was kinda played off as a villain, acting threatening, taking off her helmet and calling Din a cultist.
  11. And this is part of the reason why MandR has such a bad reputation. His fans come across as sheep who blindly listen to his every word. Not all TFOLs are whiny entitled brats like MandR.
  12. Dude, the Mando set looks awesome! Looks like LEGO finally made a speeder bike in right scale. Sets at the $30US/$45AUD price point have been disappointing for a long time, this one looks like a step in the right direction. Most of the $45 sets are just one ship or one small build, really doesn’t feel like the value is there. This one has 2 of the most popular characters in modern Star Wars on their speeder and a giant crossbow to fight against, with a third side build and a tusken raider to boot. Kids will love it. AFOL opinions on this one will change when they have it in hand with the shiny new mando figure they’ve been begging for. What I don’t understand is why these sets don’t have more than 2 figures, if there are 4 figures in the cheaper battle pack sets. Would’ve loved to see a second tusken included. Cobb was never on the table for this set, nobody outside of the production crew knew about him before last week.
  13. People in this thread were expecting a full blown Stormtrooper transport for $30, of course they’re going to be disappointed. LEGO Star Wars fans will complain about anything. The UCS Gunship could turn out to be a massive display model with alternate instructions to build a minifig scale model, include 50 clones and people will still find something to complain about. Getting Mando and baby yoda in such a small set is awesome, as is another chance to get the new Tusken Raider head mould, I look forward to seeing pictures. If we’re lucky maybe the tent will be made out of a fabric element like the one from 7624
  14. Throwing Jan in the X-Wing would be a good way to draw out the collectors who already have the ship. Let’s see where this goes.
  15. Myself and others have already addressed this argument when I first made the comment a few pages back.
  16. Pretty sure the Tartakovsky Clone Wars was never considered true canon to begin with. Very weird considering characters like Assaj Ventress were carried over without being properly reintroduced. As for the names, I just work under the assumption that legends is still canon unless stated otherwise.
  17. A shame only @Redroe got my point. Yes, Star Wars has always been about the merchandise since 1977, there’s a reason George kept the rights, but at least George put the story first. He may have made RotJ with toys in mind but he wrote so many different endings to get to the final product. Jar Jar might’ve been a ploy to sell more merch but at least he does something in the movie, the character literally ends the race war on his homemade planet. Disney on the other hand, they wouldn’t be even let Lucasfilm move the release dates of the films. They wanted the movies out ASAP. That’s one of the few things I can’t blame Kathleen Kennedy for on the sequels, she wanted the time to do it right and she wasn’t allowed to have it. Also, I think I speak for everyone when I ask UCS gonk droid when?
  18. This is literally the only reason for why the Jawas are grey in The Mandalorian. It’s also why the Millennium Falcon was white in Solo and why the stormtroopers were red in Episode 9. In Disney’s eyes, Star Wars is about making money first (mostly from toys), and everything else second. Sad but true, the mandalorian really is the first Disney era project to put story telling first. The fact that John Favreau had to fight to keep baby yoda off the shelves until this year is proof.
  19. :eyeroll: It’s still a load of lepin. Without a convention for these sets to be exclusive to they should be available everywhere. I get that the sets were probably produced in the factory ages ago and now they’re just selling off the stock for the warehouse space, but at this point you have to ask why they don’t just hold off on the release to produce more of the set so they can sell it worldwide. The same thing gets brought up every year, convention exclusives just end up going to scalpers. It wouldn’t be an issue if it was just exclusive packaging or an exclusive piece like a plate that says “SDCC”, but they always go out of their way to load the sets with unique figures and parts. Star Wars fans got lucky this year, bricklinking the frigate will be easy (a lot of the collectors on this forum probably have the parts already), but superhero fans continue to get shafted every year. So many characters they will never get because in LEGO’s mind they’ve already made them available to everyone. Just look at the brickheadz, we still haven’t gotten most of those characters from the initial wave of SDCC exclusives.
  20. The star destroyer is ~60cm wide, and about 120cm long Another regional exclusive... Thanks LEGO, I no longer trust anything you say.
  21. As I’ve already said, LEGO has been releasing oversized models as minifigure scale (well, system scale) sets for years. If there’s nothing stopping them from making models that are too large why not models that are smaller? Now that they’re going down the downsizing path I think they should go the whole nine yards and give us the smallest possible models while still being accurate and playable. They’ve already proven that they can make the models so why won’t they do it? The largest complaint of LEGO Star Wars as a whole is by far how high the prices are, I think it would be an amazing breath of fresh air to get something like that TIE Advanced on the shelf by itself. The model from Vader’s castle is about 160 parts, throw in Vader and a Stormtrooper and you’ve got the perfect $20 set. If I remember correctly, when bespin was revealed a lot of commenters were falling for the Slave I to be it’s own set (small chance that’s just confirmation bias because I know I definitely was). The original Slave I set is more or less in the same scale I’m talking about, and I don’t think you could say it wasn’t bigger because of design limitations at the time.
  22. It’s a toy, it doesn’t need to be in scale. TIE sets have been too big for years, what do you have against making them too small? Wouldn’t you rather affordable products? How are models at that scale a niche? They’re faithful models of the ships with correct proportions and they’re minifigure scale, they just happen to be smaller than the source material rather than bigger like the oversized sets we’ve been getting for years. The designers at LEGO should easily be able to come up with solutions for most ships. Edit: terrible photos, worse design, but here’s an x-wing I made at this scale a few years ago. Very rough around the edges but if I could do this myself then one of lego’s designers could definitely produce a much cleaner version. 1 2 3
  23. I fail to see how that would be too small. If it fits a minifigure in the cockpit it’s the perfect scale, remember that TIEs are small ships in universe. The way I see it, LEGO is doing themselves a disservice by not putting out models like the mini TIE and the Slave I from bespin as individual sets. For $20 you could get an iconic ship, an iconic character to pilot it and an extra minifig or two to go along with it. On paper it’s the perfect Christmas present for a young Star Wars fan.
  24. The TIE turned out alright, it’s a little out of proportion but for a buildable toy it works. Probably won’t be getting it unless it has some nice figures. It’ll probably just be a pilot and a stormtrooper but I can always dream about Moff Giddeon and a couple of Death Troopers. I still think it would’ve been a much better idea to make the TIE a $20 set and have it be in the same scale as the TIE Advanced from the Death Star/Vader’s castle.
  25. I said this in the 2020 thread but I’ll echo it here for the sake of discussion. Downsized sets like this x wing and TIE have been something I’ve been asking for for as long as I can remember, I’m beyond excited to see how the new sets turn out. LEGO have proved to us that they can effectively do ships at smaller scales (see the Slave I from cloud city and the TIE in the Death Stars/Vader’s castle) so I hope this is the new norm. X-Wings and TIEs have no business being $100 sets, the fact every single x wing has been $130+ since 2012 is atrocious. I probably won’t buy any of the sets from this wave since I have older versions but it’s great that kids will FINALLY have affordable versions of these iconic ships. Now if only we could get the rest of the sets in the lineup at lower price points too.
