  1. Interesting, I thought this set was a bit of a mess. While a nice idea in theory, the haphazard mix of pneumatics and LAs just doesn't work IMO, severely limiting playability.
  2. You mean the first two digits of the Element ID? In general, not really.
  3. Different production processes or different types of plastic are used for different colors.
  4. No, I agree with you. IMO sets like these combine the best of two 'eras'.
  5. Perhaps also modify the front grill a bit, right now it's exactly the same as 42029's I think. That way it would definitely qualify
  6. As indicated here, 30057 is the Design ID used for the transparent colors of the 1 x 1 round plate part. Other Design IDs used are 6141, 44325, 51809 and 15570 (the latter three for metallic/chrome silver colors). Indeed there are several Element IDs associated with the 30057 Design ID that also start with '30057' (but not all), but for the other Design IDs of this part (and for the vast majority of other parts) this is not the case.
  7. Eh, I barely recognize the original 42029 in it. I'd say it's a MOC
  8. That should be exactly the other way around Design IDs are molded in, Element IDs are listed in the manual.
  9. As an aside, I love to see more MOCs of some of those crazy Soviet machines like the Lun-class экраноплан (ekranoplan) :P
  10. Yeah, I really want some of those Pneumatics V2 parts to play around with Pneumatic sets and MOCs are going to be a lot more enjoyable in terms of functionality and playability. I hope to see it make a big comeback in sets to come.
  11. BrickLink's (and Rebrickable's) numbering scheme for newer parts (since about 2006, when TLG started making the Design IDs public) are indeed based on TLG's Design IDs. Not sure what DrJB is on about, I think he's confusing Design IDs and Element IDs. BrickLink's Decoration IDs (i.e., the 1234pb5678 bit) for printed parts are more or less simply a sequential number, and not based on TLG's Decoration IDs (which Rebrickable does use in their part numbers). The reason for that is that BrickLink chose to use the same numbering scheme for both printed parts (which have Decoration IDs, usually) and stickered parts (which are counterparts, and are assembled by the end user). A mistake, IMO. As mentioned above, at Rebrickable we try to use TLG's 'official' numbers and colors as much as possible. For instance, we always try to use their Design IDs, unless a new Design ID is issued for an existing mold (we keep the old number for legacy reasons), or in the case of printed parts (we instead use the Design ID of the base mold, suffixed with the Decoration ID, in the form 1234pr5678 for printed parts, and in the form 1234pat5678 for patterned/co-injected parts). As an aside, when it comes to for instance leg assemblies, TLG assigns colors based on the left leg of the assembly. BrickLink on the other hand, assigns colors based on the color of the hips. We at Rebrickable follow TLG and also base the color of the assembly on the color of the left leg.
  12. If the pneumatics indeed perform better than 8110's (the video seems to indicate this), this set is indeed shaping up to be an all-time classic. First great flagship since 8043 perhaps.
  13. Operation of the new pneumatics seems to be quite smooth, at least its movement seems to be not as abrupt as the current system's. Either that or the demonstrator was skilled at operating pneumatics, which I doubt
  14. What is it with Russians and designing awesome badass trucks Love it!
  15. Those already exist in black, blue, red, LBG, LG, orange, white and yellow Orange is very rare though, only have 10 of those.
  16. Around 30K actually I do not leave any sets or MOCs built for longer than, say, a week. For me it's all about the building experience, not the displaying.
  17. I already had like 95% of the parts, so that's why I BrickLink'ed it I've now pretty much built all the Technic sets (and their B-models) since 2005.
  18. First of all, BrickLink is often not very accurate when it comes to colors (and Element IDs, and molds ...). Secondly, flat silver and PLG have been used interchangeably at BrickLink over the years, and have been used to indicate different colours.
  19. I've noticed this before, that DrJB tends to take arguments too personally, too quickly. Try to relax a bit more man Sorry for moderating.
  20. The part is more rare (and expensive) in Europe, I guess. More Technic fanatics here. Either way, people just want this part for Sheepo's Mustang. There are a lot of parts that are even more rare and/or expensive, like PP wheels.
  21. You don't need permission to submit anything As long as the MOC has an accurate parts list and decent instructions, it will be approved soon. Looking forward to seeing how many 'hits' it will get. I bet it will be popular.
  22. Well, when trying to make a point it helps to use the correct terminology. You referred to 'CV joints' (plural), where CV stands for Constant Velocity, and obviously these are not Constant Velocity joints, but universal joints which are not constant velocity (by themselves). Besides that, your point isn't valid, as Lipko pointed out. The engineers at Mercedes are not idiots!
  23. Just buy 8070 or 8448 second-handed and stop worrying
