Dang nice steal!!! That tree is worth about 4x what you got for the whole lot. I had a nice deal as well. Goodwill store #2 had 18 PoP Ostrich race for $4.99 each. I took 16 of them (a kid got 1, and left 1 because another kid was eying it) and my luck, I got 50% off the whole lot. Final price $39.92 for 16 sealed Ostrich race. 2 Ostrich, 3 minifigs, and a handful of tan and dark tan bricks for only $2.49 each That makes a total of 52 ostriches hmmm time to open ostrich farm. Serving Ostrich egg omlette, poached ostrich egg, ground ostrich burger, BBQ ostrich wings, and stuffed Ostrich feather pillow.

Don't forget to check Goodwill stores as well. It seems my local Target store gave up selling leftover PoP sets and dumped them to Goodwill store. I found 10x 7570 and 7x 7569 for combined total of only $93. All had Target clearance price tag on.

Wanted to Buy: UCS Star Wars Sets 10030 & 10179
Lego Otaku replied to bensl's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
It's not going to be cheap to ship them either. The 10179 is a huge box and weights quite heavy. Depending on where the seller is located and what shipping service used, it could be another $200 or so to ship Millennium Falcon. -
6 months ago people were complaining of extreme cold. For non-Americans, the number displayed is in Fahrenheit, and for nearly entire USA it was below 0 Celsius. I wonder who was it that ignored "Be careful of what you wish for" and wished for a very hot summer to ward off cold winter?

Bought 7x 7569-1 Desert Attack and 10x 7570-1 Ostrich Race for $3,99 and $6,49 each all brand new and sealed. Bought them for the pieces (dark tan mmmm and ostrich farm ) and I'll just dump all the minifigs on BL to recoup the $94 I spent.

I used to reach level 19 on Gameboy long ago and not break a sweat. Unfortunately I've gotten a bit slow and I can barely handle level 12 22 years of slow arthritis building in my hands ruined my Tetris skill...

If you have a few partial sets, try this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogIn.asp?viewMulti=Y Enter in part # (up to 3), color, etc and Bricklink can try to match up the sets that had the particular combination of piece.

Eurobricks' 3rd LDD RCB
Lego Otaku replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah leave it as is. It looks yellow in LDD and the part is legal even though it'd look odd if someone tried to build a real one. -
I think it's because people buys at TRU anyway. Other stores like Walmart may not have all the sets. One store near me never have any set on shelf priced over $60 regular so it's a choice of ordering online (and paying around $10 for S&H) or going to TRU and paying about $10 more than MSRP. One is much quicker than other.

Oh yeah that's bad news. I found it via Google search when I was looking for cheap source of LEGO other than eBay (found Bricklink thankfully). I noticed the priced seemed too good to be true and when I looked very closely, it was instructions only. Very expensive instruction and intentionally vague description plus getting refund is worse than puling your teeth out. I believe the site is back under a different web site address. If the price is too good to be true, google the web site and the word scam, chances are it is a scam.

Very nice so far. However I don't remember trans-yellow dome before. Keep up the good work  -
Large 9v monorail set up for auction on ebay!
Lego Otaku replied to Sokratesz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Extending the auction is also used in live auctions with going 1, going 2, and gone stage. However if eBay were to try and implement this, a lot of bidders would threaten to quit eBay because they can't get a good deal via last minute sniping. But from seller's view, they can get more money, and with higher final amount more fee for eBay as well. So it comes down to if eBay is willing to risk losing 3 or 4 bidders to make more money. Hmmm... wonder why it wasn't implemented already. PS *drool* at monorail. Unfortunately shipping to USA would kill this. It'd probably be cheaper to pick up a couple used Airport monorail sets from USA seller than to buy this one from oversea. -
Better check the image and link, I'm not getting anything and when I clicked it, I got a russian page that doesn't look like LEGO at all.

Favourite Series 1-3 LEGO Minifig Collection?
Lego Otaku replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Got the email and voted. No need to guess who I voted for as one of my favorite series was the Forestmen. -
Double groaner... Good ones though.

Yeah, about 400 each. I filled 2 large cups to get a bit over 800 total. I didn't stack them because of irregular shape. Fortunately bamboo is soft and you can really fill it then compress them You may be able to get at most 450 if you really crammed them.

[REVIEW] 8043 - Excavator
Lego Otaku replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a very challenging build. One mistake can set you back an hour of un-building to fix a mistake. I was nearly 100% mistake free and goofed on book 2, page 78 and 79. I used when I should have used and didn't notice the issue until I was trying to build the cockpit and discovered the issue. Removing the erroneous part was easy but putting the pin with the correct part was hard because there wasn't much room inside to hold the large gray gear in place and I had spent nearly 30 minutes dissembling in order to get the gears back in and all back together. -
$0.25 for small. Volume wise, 2x small cup is nearly the same as one large (2 studs on top to fill is nice) but small is $8 while large is $15 so you get slightly more discount on large. In the end the total pieces you can cram and the total cost probably averages out the same so don't be scared of small cups. I prefer large cups because it's fewer trips to get more in cup, and less cups to bring back. Those lids don't stack well at all

Emerald Night first, it's been out the longest of all 3. Plus it's one of the better train with working wheel link. Imperial Flagship and Grand Emporium will probably remain out for another year. Worry about Grand Emporium only after Fire Brigade has been discontinued. You can wait on the pet shop for last.

Looks like rigid 3mm to me, in copper color. 8L in copper color isn't rare (about 15 cents and up) but longer ones are much more expensive. This link shows ALL 3mm rigid hoses in copper color: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&colorID=84&catID=528&shipCountryID=US&viewFrom=sa&excStop=Y&sz=25&searchSort=P watch the "L" if length is important.

I've asked for "spends too much on LEGO" once after I spent over $600 on a single trip to LEGO store. I figure I spent over $2000 this year just at LEGO store. I haven't tried to push for the title since then as moderator don't like to be harassed for trivial things. If I got it, joy! If not, sooner or later I'll do something crazy enough on the forum to get moderator's attention and I may end up with odd title or worse, pink title.

I went back July 8 mostly to use the coupon as I may be too busy the rest of the month and LEGO 10% off coupon expires at end of July. Oh BTW I checked the extra catalogs at the store, none of them has coupon so the catalog with coupon is likely mailed only and not supplied to store. SO you can't mooch free coupons Anyway my list: Final price comes to just $0.038 per brick from 8 large cups (and $4.00 discount from 8 returned cups) I didn't fill the little stud on the cap with 4 more bricks but 169 of 2x4 can be done That brings the price to a bit under 9 cents each. I checked BL for new 2x4's and from sellers in USA, only yellow and lime 2x4 can be had for 9 cents or less but if you figure in shipping, LEGO PAB is a lot cheaper in the long run for virtually any color. Someone mentioned getting LEGO bucket but last time I checked the bucket, it had very few 2x4's so it's not that good of a deal to get buckets just for 2x4's. Yes, they allowed my 2 dangerously overfilled cups It's because the top part are only 2x4's since small pieces would fall out. YMMV, check with your LEGO store to see how much overstuffing you can get away with. My LEGO store normally allows maximum overstuffing as long as the cap still touches the cup. That's an extra 1/2" (1.25cm) for few more pieces than normal. Both white and green 2x4 unpacked along with free Target Practice set, and cup in the back holding 1x1 trans-blue filler pieces. I'm not counting those 1x1 round pieces anymore as I have over 30,000 of them by now. I asked, they don't have any other color for round 1x1 Cheese slope and square 1x1 don't fit in small spaces as easily as round . Bunch of lime 1x2 tiles. About the only interesting tile that day. 2x2 45' trans slopes. When I laid it out for picture, I had a vision of making a minifig scale greenhouse out of those, with green plants and bricks inside. 2 large cup full of those!!! Not pictured, the brown 1x2 bricks. The reddish-brown bricks would be great for making tree since I already have lots of various slopes and lots of leaf elements. PS that 10% off coupon? I used it on motorized excavator. 10% off plus my $30 VIP reward reduced the final price of the set to only $150+tax. I originally wanted to get either Imperial shuttle or DS set but those 2 are huge sets and no place to display them. OTOH the excavator will become spare part fodder when I get bored with it
